Chapter 19

The next morning.

Harper helped Harrison with his suit jacket and sent him off to work. "Buy a bottle of insecticide on your way back," she reminded him.

"I know," he replied, putting on his jacket and glancing up at the old tiled roof. The house was too old and not only had bugs, it was also leaking from several sides. It had rained all night but Harper didn't notice as Harrison shielded her all night.

It was time to find a better house.

As Harrison was thinking about how to bring up the topic of moving to Harper, she spoke up.

"Harrison, I want to find a better-paying job." "Are we running out of money?" Harrison clearly remembered giving her his credit card a few days ago,was the money not enough? "It's not that," She quickly shook her head. "I want to earn more money and save up to buy a house."

Harrison's gaze deepened, but he remained calm. "Providing for the family is a man's responsibility. You can keep your money for yourself. I'll take care of the house". Perfect,he didn't have to come up with a reason to move anymore

"I'm not forcing you to buy a new house; our home belongs to the both of us and you shouldn't be the only one providing for the family. I should be able to earn money too!"

Harrison was under a lot of pressure,he had a measly salary and yet he had to provide for them.

Harrison furrowed his brow and quickly thought of several clothing companies in which Whitney Corp had shares "I have a few friends who work in big clothing companies,do you want me to-" "No need. I want to get a job with my own abilities"

Harper made it up in a mind to find a better job,so she put on a dress and some faint makeup before setting out with her CV.

A few days later... 'Sorry Miss Carson, but you didn't qualify for the job'. Harper put down her phone in disappointment. This was the third rejection she had received in two days. A company had interviewed her and notified her to start interning the next day, but in the afternoon, they changed their minds and said they weren't hiring anymore. She couldn't figure out what was going on.

She lifted her head and suddenly caught sight of a company building in front of her. Her eyelashes trembled slightly. It was the Carson Clothing Group, where she had been working until two years ago. Harper had studied design in college and had been very close to becoming a general manager in the company before. With her design talent, she should quickly win the New Designer Award and make a name for herself in the fashion industry. Unfortunately, after her parents separated, she couldn't stay there anymore.

Harper walked into the company. A capable short-haired woman in professional attire happened to walk by and was surprised when she saw her. "Harper?"

"Sister Kaylie!" Harper immediately lifted her head and smiled upon hearing Kaylie's voice. Kaylie was a veteran in the company, Harper was even one of her team members when she was still working there. "Are you here to apply for a job?" "Well,I-" "Well if she came here to do so, she'd better go back home now. There's no way she's getting a job here"
