Chapter 18
Harrison glanced at his phone as it rang for the umpteenth time. Harper came out from the kitchen and couldn't help but look at his phone "Who's been calling you so much? It's starting to get annoying" "I know right?" Just then the phone rang yet again and Harrison looked at Harper "Answer it" "Y-you want ME to answer your call?" "Why not? You're my wife and I don't see anything wrong with it"
Harper's heart warmed at Harrison's words. He actually thought of her as his wife! Maybe they had a chance after all! She looked at the caller id and was stunned 'Annoying brat?' "What's wrong? I told you already, you can answer it" "Yes". She finally answered and put the phone to her ear but what she heard almost made her drop it "Hello?"
"Harrison Whitney! How could you just leave me and walk off like that! Y-you- traitor! You left your brother because of a woman?!" "Shut up, you're startling my wife" The call was on speakerphone so Harrison naturally heard what Kevin said. Kevin had called him several names since they were kids and he didn't mind,but he couldn't let him shout at Harper,she's his woman!
"You're with your wife?" "Is that how you address her?" "S-s-sorry sister-in-law!" "No need, it's fine. Do you want to talk to Harrison?" "Talk with Harr- no,no there's no need. Have a good night sister-in-law!" "You don't need to-" Harper heard a beep sound and looked to see that Kevin had ended the call. "That was weird" "What?" "Is he your brother?" "No" "Oh" "Can you bring my phone over for me? I need to use it for something" "Coming"
Harper walked towards Harrison but she accidentally tripped and she ended up sitting on Harrison's lap. Harrison was stunned for a moment as Harper looked up at him. He had never been so close to her before and he realized how beautiful she actually was. Her hazel eyes seemed to glow in the dark and she had a small beauty mark next to her right eye. Unlike most girls,she didn't smell of perfume but rather of baby milk. That's strange,he seems to have smelt something like this before, but when?
"Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't notice when I-" Harper noticed the compromised position they were in and was about to stand up when Harrison suddenly tightened his hold on her causing her to sit back down "L-let me go" "Why is your waist so thin hmm?" His gaze at her was so deep she felt like her soul was being sucked in by just looking at his eyes, his voice was magnetic and deep, like the bass of a high-quality piano. "I-I"
Harrison suddenly moved his head closer causing Harper to become nervous and she closed her eyes. Their lips were about to touch when suddenly- 'Ring' Harrison's phone rang out causing the couple to snap out of their reverie. "I-I have something to do!"
Harper got off Harrison's lap and made a run for it without noticing the faint smile on her husband's lips
