Chapter 17
THE NEXT DAY
Inside the private room of a luxurious restaurant, Harrison sat upright on the sofa, looking at the man opposite him expressionlessly. "What do you want from me?" he asked.
The man sitting opposite Harrison had a handsome face and his temperament was particularly charming. He crossed his long legs and casually rested them on the coffee table, lazily smoking a cigarette while staring at his phone playing games. "Willowbrook is too boring, so I came to play with you," he said.
Harrison's eyes suddenly became colder. "Kevin, you said it was urgent. If I didn't come, you would die." He paused for a moment. "Is that all?"
The man quickly put away his playful expression and sat up straight. "Harrison, it really is urgent! I came to inform you," he said. Harrison looked at him indifferently, but the atmosphere around them became more oppressive.
"Your mother... no, your stepmother has been up to no good in the past six months while you were away. She instigated your father to transfer several villas to your younger brother and entertained shareholders everywhere. If you don't return to Willowbrook soon, Whitney Corp may be taken away by her,"
Harrison fell silent for a moment, his voice calm and cold. "The urgent matter you want to tell me is not this, is it?"
"I really can't fool you with anything," Kevin chuckled nervously and scratched his head. "Actually, it's my older brother who insisted that I get married and even stopped all my cards,so I decided to come over and stay with you. Besides didn't you also run away from home because you didn't want to get married?" "I have a wife now"
Upon hearing Harrison's words, Kevin choked on what he was drinking "Seriously?! Come on bro, we're brothers, how can you tease me like that?" "I got married four days ago". Kevin saw the look on his friend's face and he knew he wasn't joking. "B-but how could you suddenly get married? You had no interest in women!" "You don't need to know"
One sentence, it killed the conversation. "I'm literally out of words right now. You-"
Suddenly there was a 'ding' from Harrison's phone and he looked at it for a few seconds before standing up and walking out of the private room. Kevin stood up and ran after him "Hey bro,where are you going?" Harrison turned to look at him and asked "Did you bring a car?" "Yes but why-" "My wife asked me to buy eggs" "What?!" Kevin's keys dropped from his hand. Harrison was actually going to get eggs from the supermarket?! He'd never been to a supermarket in Willowbrook!
Clyde saw the shock on Kevin's face and smiled "Don't be surprised Mr Jones, this isn't the first time he's done this" "Really?" "Madam asked him to buy green onions two days ago" "And he went?" Clyde nodded at his question and walked towards Harrison's direction "Get me a cab" "Yes sir" "What's wrong with my car?" Harrison didn't say a word but looked at Kevin's car as if to say 'You want me to ride in that?' which caused him to rub his head " I know it's a bit weird but I think it's cool"
Who calls a Porsche painted in green cool? It made the car look like a big shiny frog! Mr Jones' choice of words was quite... surprising
A cab soon arrived and Harrison got into it without even paying attention to Kevin. The cab drove off and Kevin stood there with his hands on his hips. Beauty could truly make a man forget his friends!
