Chapter 6 Anxiety and Fear
The uneasy stillness of the room was evoking an unsettling feeling inside Eva; it was the first time she was touched like this, and the closeness between their bodies made her feel warmth, which was not right according to her.
His eyes were glaring at her with some unknown expressions.
Eva just wants to get rid of this man whose presence is enough to make a feeling of fear inside her, but she couldn’t even dare to move an inch, not because he had blocked his way from either side.
It was more because his eyes had pinned her at a place.
She doesn’t know why she is getting so pretentious about his presence.
Where Stephen was admiring Eva’s beautiful features, she was gorgeous in every way.
Her eyes reflect so much innocence. Her curves, which were in all the right places, and her pink lips, which were trembling in fear the moment she rolled her tongue over her lips Stephen wants to kiss her endlessly at the same time but he has to first know about her.
Till now, he understood one thing: she is not an intruder or thief.
Some moments later, the room door opened with a thud and rose, and Steve entered the room.

They heard two boisterous voices in the room, which broke the trance of Stephen and Eva. Eva didn’t waste time and pushed Stephen and ran towards Rose. She hid herself behind Rose. Whereas Steve was looking at the scene in shock, he smirked and asked in a teasing tone.
“My my! What are you both doing in one room? Did you call us to witness this, Stephen?”
“Shut up, and we have not been involved in anything. This girl was... and wait a minute, who is this girl?”
Rose, who was holding Eva’s hand, answered Stephen, “She is Eva Johnson. My friend’s daughter, and she is going to stay with us for the next six months; didn’t I notify you about this before you left?“
“Oh yes, I remember now, but still what she was doing in my room at this time. “
Rose, Steve, and Stephen were looking at Eva to answer this.
Eva looked at Rose and started in a low voice.
"I was feeling hungry, so I went to the kitchen, but... I lost my way and ended up in the wrong room by mistake. It was dark, so I didn’t notice the interior of the room, and I was feeling very sleepy, so. .. Trust me, it was just a mistake.”
Eva started sobbing at the end of her sentence. Rose consoled her while giving a fierce glare at her son. "Stephen, I hope now you are satisfied with her answer. It was just a mistake, and still you made the innocent girl cry. Come, dear, I will take you to your room.”
Eva was going to leave the room when Steve’s voice from behind stopped her. “Eva, listen to me, dear; next time if you lose the way to your room, then you see the door on the left side. It’s just my room, and you are welcome there anytime. Trust me, I will not complain.”
Steve winked at Eva.
Eva gave an awful look at Steve and left the room. First Rose stared at Steve and scolded him, “didn’t I warn you to stay away from her and don’t you dare to tease her? “
Steve raised his hand in surrender, Rose shrugged at her actions, and left the room to check on Eva. Steve then laughed at the situation, but soon his laugh stopped feeling the hard eyes of his brother on him. He gave a sheepish look at Stephen and then left the room, muttering a goodnight
Soon Eva entered her guest room. The moment Eva entered the room, she first rushed to take a shower, as she felt the need to take a cold shower first. Her body was still shivering from the memory of his touch.
She was still in shock at what had happened to her.
It was the first time someone touched her on. ..
After spending some time in the shower, Eva wears another pair of night suits and lays down on her bed to get some sleep.
Eva thought he should talk to her dad about this, but what she should mention was that it was her fault that she landed in the wrong room.
Her dad will get worried unnecessarily for her, and she doesn’t want that. Till now they limited it to ignoring Steve, and she was doing it well, but this Stephen is a distinct case, as his personality is so formidable that it scares and excites her at the same time.
Eva wanted to share her thoughts with someone. Dad is not a good choice, so she called her best friend, who will give her the right advice, and that is Sara.
The next morning Eva was late to wake up as she got asleep late at night. She quickly finished her morning routine, and she called Sara.
It overwhelmed Sara to hear from her, but when she noticed her trembling low voice, she understood something was wrong with Eva. When she inquired about her well-being, Eva couldn’t hold it anymore and narrated all last night’s happenings to Sara
Sara listened to her quietly, and after she heard her completely, she kept her point of view.
“Eva, stop crying first. I can understand your problem, but you have to stay strong. You know your dad will get all worried to know all this, but I think you realize it was your mistake that you entered his bedroom. Maybe he thought of you for someone else and touched you like that. You don’t have to give much thought about that.
And if you fear him, then just treat him as you are treating Steve. Avoid him. Okay. “
“I don’t know how I will do this anymore as his presence is... I cannot explain it to you, Sara. Seriously, I just want to leave this place”.
"Really, and what will you tell your dad and Rose Smith that sorry, I want to leave your place because your elder son is making me feel insecure... Right that you want to do, are you even ok in doing it, as it was you only who have all the praise for Rose Smith? And what you used to say is that you will focus on your classes and not be interested in the smith brothers.”
“Then you tell me what I should do?”
“Just stand strong on your word, focus on your classes and ignore these smith brothers, that’s all. ‘
Their conversation got disturbed by the knock on the door. Eva spotted them standing on her threshold.
“Rose, madam, is calling you for breakfast.”
“Yes, I am coming. “ Katey left, giving a warm smile to Eva, whereas Eva continued her talk.
“What should I do now? The whole Smith family will be present there.”
"Relax, Eva, take deep breaths, and just join them for breakfast. Keep ignoring them, and it will be done before you even know. Now go. I will talk to you in the evening, okay."

Eva decided to face the situation. In slow steps, she reached the dining room
Steve was busy talking to Stephen, whereas Stephen was having his breakfast, giving no remark.
“You know, Stephen, I think this girl is not interested in boys. You know she is into girls.”
“Which girl?”
"Ooh, come on, man, Eva, of course, so what I was telling you is that she is lesbian for sure.”
“And how did you know that?” Stephen raised an eyebrow at him
“Because when I met her first, she didn’t even compliment me; she was even not excited to see
"Ooh, so if a girl doesn’t look at you or compliment you, then she is a lesbian, is it?”
“Yes, for sure.“
‘ Steve, you know what? Grow up”
Steve pouted at his brother, and soon they heard the footsteps of Eva. Steve nudged Stephen to notice her. Stephen gazed at her, and he noticed how she greeted his parents and got seated on the chair that was placed close to their parents and, of course, away from them.
The house helped serve her plate, and Eva started having her breakfast, focusing only on her plate.
Eva could feel his eyes digging holes in her, but she didn’t look at him. She was trembling from inside, but it didn't show on her face.
Soon the torture named breakfast got finished, and William and the Smith brothers left for their workplace.
Eva took a deep breath, which she was holding for a long time. Rose missed nothing; she knew what a lovely girl like Eva is going through now, so she talked to her.
“ Eva dear, I hope you are not busy now, as I wanted to give you a home trip. Are you okay now?"
“Yes“
“Great, then come on."
Rose first shows her the ground floor, which includes a lavish drawing room, a big dining room, and the kitchen, as well as William”s study room, or call it a small office.
Then Rose shows Eva the big lawn and the garden area.
They also had a swing placed in between.
Eva didn’t waste time and got settled on the swing.
First, she giggled while Rose adored her cuteness.
Rose let her spend some time on the swing, then she took her to either side of their house.
Eva was delighted to notice a gigantic swimming pool.
Even though the club in her town didn’t have a swimming pool like this, she learned about swimming from her swimming classes at her school.
However, she doesn't continue her passion for swimming after school because the club in their small town, which used to be the only club, was always very crowded.
And her dad never allowed her to join the club.
Rose noticed the glint in her eyes, so she asked, “What happened, dear? Are you scared of water?
"No, actually quite the opposite, as I love to swim. Can I swim here sometime?
“Yes, why not? I will tell the workers to clean it properly as we use it rarely, ok?
"Thank you so much, “Eva squealed like a kid. And Rose found relief to see her normal again.
Soon they reached the first floor., which had six bedrooms; three were guest rooms, and the remaining three enormous bedrooms belonged to the family.
Eva stared at the door of Stephen’s room and again recalled last night’s events. Rose patted her shoulder and started her talk.
“Stephen is always like this, a hard-faced man for outside work, but he is a soft fit only for his family. I hope he did nothing to scare you, Eva. If anything is bothering you, then you can talk to me, dear. But it’s not his fault completely, as he doesn’t know your identity; otherwise, he must never have terrified you.
“Stephen doesn’t like to share his space, his bedroom, or his study room.
He dislikes it if any other person invades his privacy.
We assign only one person to clean his room.
So you can understand his personality. Trust me, he will never bother you; just prevent intervening in his matters or his room. Ok,”
Eva was glad that Rose warned her about Stephen and in that way she cleared her doubts about his behavior
“ And one more thing, don’t mind Steve‘s words, as he loves teasing you, and that’s all."
Eva smiled at Rose. “its ok."
