Chapter 21 The Dance
Eva was getting ready for the party and Kathey was helping her out, whereas Steve was also excited to attend the party with Eva.
But he didn’t have the slightest idea that his brother has some other plans for him
Steve was almost ready when a phone call disturbed him.
It was his secretary, and she informed him about a meeting with investors who were going to leave.
So he needed to attend to this one. Steve couldn’t afford to refuse this meeting, as these investors were important for his upcoming project.
So he informed his mother and left for his meeting, although he was feeling bad that he would not accompany Eva.
but he is going to join the party later, after the meeting will be over.
Eva reached the living room all dressed up in the beautiful gown, Rose and William were already waiting for the other members so that they could start for the party.
Eva also joined them.
Shortly Stephen also joined them. He was looking handsome in that custom-made suit
Eva avoided looking at him as she feared her hormones and didn’t want to embarrass herself in front of the Smith couple. As she clearly remembers how his looks affected her in the changing room of the store

Eva was shocked and depressed, as she was expecting Steve to accompany her. She doesn't like this type of party, but she was relieved that Steve would be splendid company for her. However, now all her plans are ruined, and she feels like she will die of boredom at the party.
Rose noticed Eva’s sad face, so she tried to cheer her up
“Don’t worry, he will join us at the party soon.”

Stephen gave a nod to his dad, and soon they settled in their cars. Eva was traveling with Stephen. He was sitting beside her. Eva aimed to keep a safe distance between them.
Stephen was still recalling how she got upset when she was informed about Steve’s absence. At this moment, Stephen was cursing his brother for getting so close to Eva. It was like he had spelt some magic on her; they were both were behaving like BFFs
It well designed the interior of the expensive car for comfort, but it was not helping Eva. Her face was sweating because of anxiety. She was just wishing the journey would end soon. She already decided that she would try her best to return with Steve from the party.
Stephen glanced at his side and found Eva fidgeting with her hands. She was rubbing her ring frequently
“Are you comfortable?” Stephen asked in an icy voice
“Hmm yes.”
“We are arriving there. Just "stay close to me as the media is present too...
"But why will they trouble me? I mean, I don’t belong to your family.'
“You appear as my date and that’s more than enough to gain the media’s temptation."
Eva just nods, but in mind, she again got an idea of how much attitude Stephen Smith carries on his nose. Such an arrogant jerk.
Shortly after they arrived at the hotel, as the chauffeur opened the gate of their car, Eva had to blink her eyes as many flashlights were sparkling together.
Stephen came to her side and forwarded his hand.

Eva gave a nod at him, and soon the paparazzi started clicking their pictures. Many reporters kept asking questions about their relationship but Stephen didn’t reply; he just kept avoiding them and soon the security made them better the hall of the hotel
Eva took a deep breath after reaching inside the hotel., but the next moment, her breath got stuck when she noticed the lavish party arrangements. It was something beyond her imagination .
Stephen introduced her to the organizers who were near the entrance to welcome the guests. Stephen introduced her as his friend, and the organizers provided a pair of masks for the dance.
Soon Steven and Eva joined the Smith couple, who were already sitting. Stephen made Eva sit beside him only. Eva was not appreciating this, but she didn’t have any option. However, Stephen didn’t behave badly with her today, so she was fine.
Robert and Richard entered the party and soon reached their table. Eva greeted them, but she noticed Richard was wearing sunglasses. She thought it was weird, but she didn’t comment, as she assumed it to be a fashion of elite class
Richard greeted Eva and got settled on the opposite dude. It surprised Eva, as Stephen and Richard didn’t even greet each other, and now they are sitting hostile toward each other.
But again, who is she to comment on as a couple? No, no ...she again cursed herself in her mind and corrected her thoughts. First friends—that’s what they are, so friends do fight sometimes.
Rose and William were busy chatting with everyone, and Richard Stephen was quietly enjoying his drink. Soon, the announcer made the ball dance announcement, and many couples reached the stage and started swaying to the music. Eva was enjoying it when Richard asked her a question.
‘You like dancing, don’t you?”
‘No. Not much, but yes, when I was in high school, I got crazy for salsa dancing, as I watched it on some popular dance show.
My dad granted my wish and searched for a dance teacher.
I loved attending those classes, but the teacher got transferred and so I have to drop them.
Anyway, she always appreciated my dance skills, and she used to compliment me as her best student. So you can say I know salsa."
“Hmm, impressive, dear, so you don’t like this kind of ball dance, only salsa?
So it means I have to join salsa classes first and then ask you to dance.
Well, you know I also joined some classes so that I could not embrace myself at college prom.
The dance teacher tried hard to teach me some salsa but at last, she gave up some days and suggested I never try it again as I was worse in that “
Eva giggled at his joke, whereas Stephen just shook his head. Eva felt a tap on her shoulder and he found William, who was forwarding his gift to her
“May I go dancing with this beautiful girl?"
“But I don’t know how to ‘
“I will guide you; now come on."
Eva smiled at him and held his hand. Soon, they reached the dance floor and started the dance. Eva started enjoying the dance
Eva was smiling all the time while dancing with William. As the going music piece got over., someone tapped on Williams’s shoulder. He turned around and found Stephen standing behind him.
William had a surprised look on his face as Stephen was never fond of dancing, especially at parties like this. Before he could ask, Stephen forwarded his hand towards Eva. William gave a warm smile and left the stage, whereas Eva stood there in shock, looking at the forwarded hand.
Perceiving her reaction, Stephen took hold of her hand.
“What are you doing? I don’t want to dance with you. Leave my hand, Stephen. “Eva expresses her discomfort to the devil
But then she noticed other couples started evacuating the dance floor, leaving only Stephen and Eva on the floor. Eva has a questioning look on her face, looking at the surroundings.
Stephen smirked and whispered to her,
“let’s see how much salsa you know."
Eva was shocked but before she could say anything, Stephen signaled the musicians and they started playing salsa music.
Stephen pulled her close to himself and whispered in her ear.
“Let’s begin the fun."
Before Eva could hear the dance start, Stephen was dancing like a pro, and Eva was astonished to notice this. So Eva took it as a challenge and soon got indulged in the dance.
Stephen twirled her, dipped her and lifted her swiftly.
He was not ready to miss the beat and Eva was not ready to give him any reason to mock her dancing talent, so she was doing her best. She was stating the truth, not bluffing around.
She was trying to match his steps. But the one thing that was troubling her was his eyes, which were boring into her soul.
Their moves were perfect but their eye lock was telling a different story, as Stephen looking at her with so much love and Eva was looking at him as she was trying to solve some riddle
Rose, William, and Robert were looking at their performance with their mouths agape. While Richard kept enjoying his drink with a smile on his face. The present guests were also appreciative and admired for their performance.
Many guests were astonished to know that Stephen could dance so well and till now they never spotted him dancing.
At the same moment, Steve entered the party and noticed that they gathered the guests around the dance floor.
He thought maybe some special salsa performance was going on.
He also reached near the dance floor and his jaw dropped as he sighted the couple.
Then he observed the surroundings and reached his parents.
“Dad, what is going on?"?
“ Magic of Eva, atmosphere, “William replied smilingly. His answer made Steve more confused. He noticed how Eva and Stephen were moving in sync and not to get their intense eyes locked.
Steve was getting irritated by this atmosphere so he just left for the bar and joined Richard
He made a drink and gulped it in one go
Richard asked him, ““What happened to you?”
“My life is getting miserable nowadays. You know, today I was so excited about this party but at the last moment, I got busy at some stupid meeting.
And thanks to your friend, he is sending me to Australia.
And now look at him dancing like a pro after wrecking my life.
Wow, just sending don't know what I did wrong with him. "
Richard chuckled and answered, ” nothing much, just aiming to get close to his girl."
“Hmm, his girl? Which girl are you talking about?”
“Eva Johnson, Stephen is in love with that girl."
Steve gave a troubled look to Richard and asked him in irritation.
“Are you high on drugs? What do you do? Think? It’s rubbish."
“No, it’s not. You know the dinner party when I met Eva for the first time.
I noticed how my dear friend was looking at her.
Trust me, eve, he is my childhood buddy and I know all his looks and what it means.
He is in love with her. That next incident was the club incident and what did you get for getting close to her?
Is the order to shift to Australia? It was not about business.

Steve was looking at him in amazement as he was recalling all the series of events

On the stage, the music abruptly ceased while Eva remained in his embrace. Stephen came close to her cheek and whispered to her ears
“I sincerely hope that now you realize I am not what you assume, and therefore I kindly request that you refrain from discussing my interests, as you are ill-prepared to comprehend them.
Stephen moved aside, held her hand, and stepped down onto the floor. Eva was feeling miserable as Stephen knew what she had assumed about him and Richard.
“But how? Steve?You are so dead, Steve,” Eva murmured.
