Chapter 22 Some secrets
Soon Eva stepped down from the dance floor and the moment they reached a near rose, Eva pulled his hand from Stephen’s hold. Rose hugged Eva and complimented her dance
“ Well, my boy, I never saw you dancing, and you were truly exceptional in salsa." So when did you learn this?” William asked in astonishment
” William, only if you were not busy with your work in his teen days, then you know Stephen attended the salsa classes in high school.
Richard was adamant about attending the classes with him only.
Business Robert requested Stephen, and he agreed.
Today I am glad that he did. You made me so proud, dear, and what chemistry you both have, God! You just set the dance floor on fire."
Stephen gave a smile to his mother, whereas Eva was not interested in Stephen‘s past; she was searching for Steve to give him peace of mind
Soon, she spotted him sitting with Richard. She started rushing towards him when she lost her balance and she was going to touch the floor when two arms held her.
Eva was almost going to scream, but soon she felt a pair of arms wrapped around her. She opened her eyes slowly and found Harry, who was giving a warm smile at her
“Harry “
“Yes, my dear, why is it I always have to save you from falling down? Or you love to be saved by me."
Eva stood up on her feet, cursed herself for wearing heels, then gave a stare at Harry
“ Sorry for that, and what if I assert,
“Are you anyhow following me, Mr. Hudson?”
Harry chuckled at her fierceness, as he never thought she got such a sharp tongue too .Eva just shrugged her shoulders and excused herself to catch Steve
Steve was enjoying his drink while Richard’s words were still buzzing in his mind.Eva reached near Steve and got settled beside him.
Before she could ask something, she felt the chair by her side got occupied by someone.
She gaped at the person and the devil was giving her a sharp look.
Stephen was already watching Eva with his eyes.
He saw how Harry saved her, which made him even sicker.
Eva wanted to scold Steve for enlightening Stephen about her thoughts., but now it’s not possible as Stephen is sitting close to her.
So Eva decided she would ask Steve on the way back home. But for now, Stephen‘s presence was suffocating her. She started searching for an escape and soon her eyes landed on Rose, who was busy with some of her friends. Eva got an idea, and she excused herself and left to meet .
Rose was busy in conversation with Thompson's family when Eva joined them
“Mrs. Thompson, she is Eva, my friend's daughter. She is staying with us for sometime time.
""Hello," Eva greeted the Thompson family politely
“You are the one who was dancing with Stephan, right?” Elena asked in a bitter tone
“Yes, “Eva replied in a soft tone. Eva was oblivious to Elena’s thoughts; she didn’t know how much Elena dreamed of Stephen and today, when she arrived at the party, she found Stephen dancing with another girl.
She felt so humiliated as Elena almost in every party in which Stephen is present asked him for dance, but that man never agreed.
Till date she assumed Stephen didn’t enjoy dancing or maybe he was not an excellent dancer but today Stephen proved her wrong as he danced like a pro and his expressions implied he loved it.
Elena was eager to know about that stranger girl but when Rose introduced her to Elena and also notified her that Eva was staying at Smith's place, it made Elena more furious.
But she noticed how much Rose was admiring Eva, so she dealt with it cleverly.
“It was an exquisite performance. Why don’t you bring Eva to our place, you know, for the high tea party? She will also meet manyI mean of her age group. “ Elena started her fake sugar coated words
Eva wanted to refuse but rose answered before she could decline the invitation
“Yes, that’s a fantastic idea, dear. I will definitely get her along. I am sure she will enjoy the party.
“Trust me, I will make that party a memorable one for her, an end,nod “Elena stated while giving a deep look at Eva. Rose couldn’t notice it, but Eva did. She was not getting any good vibes from Elena. Still, she gave a nod at them
As the party was ending, Eva was getting eager to talk to Steve, but whenever she reached Steve, she found Stephen nearby, so she postponed the discussion. Soon the smith family bid their goodbye to Richard and Robert and were going to leave the party
Eva tried to stay along with Steve in a hurry . When she was reaching Steve, she collided with someone. She looked up at the man and found him staring at her with wide eyes.
She found him observing her face, like he was trying to find something
“Sorry “
Before the man could answer, Rose come from behind
“Why don’t you start for home? It’s already late, dear.”
Eva nods at the rose the same moment she spotted Steve near the exit. Again, she rushed to him without bothering about the stranger man
But someone was in shock. Rose reached near that man. He just gave a deep look at her
“My! How did I have the honor to meet you?” The man gave a comment to Rose, on which rose scrunched her nose
“And what evil deeds I did to behold your face, Liam.”
That man was none other than Liam Hudson, Harry’s father and the owner of the Hudson group of companies, which are rivals to Smiths in business.
Liam chuckled at her response.
“Can you please tell me who that girl was, as I think she resembles...”
“Your sister, yes, you are right. She is Eva Johnson, daughter of Michael and Lisa, your not-so-fortunate sister. Well, for your information, she is staying with me and I promised her father that shebe safe.”
“Why are you telling me this rubbish? I am not interested in her life. She is as worthless to me as her mother was.”
Rose gritted her teeth in anger but before she could lash out at Liam, William interfered as he saw his wife talking to Liam and he knew how much Rose loathed Liam Hudson
“It’s nice that she means nothing to you. So just stay away from her and tell your son the same thing... Rose, come dear, we are getting late. “
William held rose’s hand and exited the hotel
When Rose was busy with Liam in an argument, Eva was busy in conversation with Steve.
Why did you do that?"
“What did I do now? You know I am already putting up with some shocking news and now you are also blaming me for something. Damn it, at least give some time to my little heart to bear so much.”
Eva got more irritated. “Don’t act; tell me why you notified Stephen about my thoughts. That I assume him to be in a relationship with Richard. Didn’t I request you not to mention this to anyone?"
“Oh yes, Eva, dear, do you have the slightest idea how dangerous my brother could be? I didn’t want to say a word but my brother threatened me, and he never intended empty threats.”
“So you mean he blackmailed you?"
“Yes, sort of."
Eva wanted to ask more, but a sudden tug in her hand got her interest. It was Stephen who was holding her arm
“What are you doing?”
“Just taking my date back home with me.
Good night, Steve.”
Announcing this, Stephen started dragging Eva with him
“But I don’t want to go with you? “Eva took the courage and whispered her opinion.
“I don’t care for that; at least thisas the media is still present here and I don’t want to give them spicy news about my relationship."
Eva didn’t want that either, so she quietly got settled in the car.
All the way Stephen kept yelling on the phone to his secretary about some deal. His stern voice and tone made Eva more nervous. She was cursing her faith because she agreed to attend this party.
The moment the car halted at Smith’s mansion, Eva was the first one to sit down and then she didn’t even turn to notice Stephen and rushed towards her room.
The moment she reached the room, she took deep breaths to calm her heartbeat.
She changed into comfortable night clothes and lay down on the bed to get sleep.
When William and Rose reached Smith's mansion, William was very upset with Rose. But Rose was already in a negative mood after meeting Liam.
When they arrived at their bedroom, William couldn’t hold it anymore. “ Why did you do that? We already decided that Liam should not know about Eva, so why did you tell him about Eva? Do you know you put her in danger now? “
“And what do you think Liam couldn’t notice her resemblance? Before he could start his research, I should tell him myself. “
“And now what next? Don’t tell me you are going to tell Eva about her mother’s past and her relation with Hudsons."
“No, I will not do any sort of that. I promised Michale, and it was his place to decide whether Eva should know the truth. But it hurts me whenever I see her getting concerned over money. That naive girl doesn’t even know how well-off she is.”
William took Rose, who was in tears, in a side hug. “. I know and I can understand your feelings too but you know Liam will never lend her the rights, and we cannot do anything about this as Michael himself gave up on this wealth."
Rose gave a nod at him. William wanted to cheer her mood up
“Today I am upset with your wife."
“Why?”
“ What why? How could you not notice the couple under our roof as you love to play matchmaker?”
“Hmm, Stephen and Eva? “
“Hmm, didn’t you notice how Stephen was looking at Eva with so much love?”
“Are you sure about this? I mean, Stephen, they do not even look comfortable with each other. “
“Okay, dear, if you say so, I just told you what I thought about them."
“ Hmm, well, if something is going on between them, then Stephen must have told me."
“Done. Now, don’t stress yourself and sleep. Ok “
Rose gave a nod at her husband
Eva was still in thoughts about, and as a result, she couldn’t get any sleep. She checked the time. It was not much late, so she went swimming, as it will relax her mind to some extent and then maybe she could attain some sleep
She changed into her swimwear and reached the swimming pool. She was enjoying her swimming session when she heard some sounds, so she turned around and saw Stephen, who was standing poolside in his robe.
The moment Stephen dropped his bathrobe, his naked body came into view of Eva. Stephen entered the pool in his boxers.
Eva was holding her breath as she didn’t know how she started feeling hot if the cold water turned hot suddenly or if her hormones again started playing with her mind
Stephen reached near Eva and whispered in her ear
"Breath Girl“
Eva blinked her eyes to believe what she was watching and listening to. This is not a hallucination that she was sure of.
Whereas Stephen was enjoying her shocked state, today he didn’t stop himself from joining her in this midnight swimming session. And now he is going to cherish every moment
