Chapter 37 birthday treat
The devil's words took aback Eva, but she sensed a sincere apology and nodded in response.
Stephen smiled at her and then left for his work, as in all this chaos they were already late for their respective works
Because of her excessive crying, Eva spent the day resting to ease her throbbing headache.
She remains unable to comprehend the cause of Stephen's outburst as well as his abrupt apology.
Anyway, she was still excited about attending this party. It was evening time when Rose selected a beautiful black dress for her. Rose selected some expensive designer dresses for her, but she refused them and rather selected a beautiful plain black dress that was also chosen by Rose.
Rose just admired her thought process, as she was smart enough to understand the reason behind Eva’s preference for this dress.
Eva doesn’t want to make her friend and her guests low-income families by wearing some expensive clothes. She wanted to appear like one of them. Her stay at Smith's place has already spread many rumors about her background.
Soon, Eva was ready for the party. Eva kept her makeup simple and started her journey to her friend’s place.
She already bought a decent handbag as a gift for Jacey.
She noticed that security was following her; she doesn’t appreciate it but didn’t deny it either, as she didn’t want to upset smith family
After an hour she reached the provided address, Eva noticed the surroundings; it was a street full of tall buildings on both sides. Her bodyguard escorted her towards the building.
And soon she was standing before a door; loud music from inside that flat was audible to Eva. The bodyguard stood with her until Jacey opened the door. Before Eva entered the flat, the bodyguard informed her he would be present on this floor.
Eva just gave a nod at him and entered the flat. Jacey welcomed her with a warm hug. She took Eva to introduce her to other friends. Eva welcomed all the young people with a handshake.
Some were single, while some young couples were present with their respective girlfriend or boyfriend
Eva took a seat on a couch and looked around. She was cheerful to notice so many young people enjoying this small place.
Jacey was trying hard to make everyone comfortable. Soon Jacey joined her with a glass of soft drink in her hand.
Jacey passed the glass to Eva, who took it with a “I know it’s a little uncomfortable here; you know this is a small place, so I am trying.”
“No, it’s a lovely place. I really like your place."
"Hmm, thank you." a young girl entered the flat and Jacey welcomed her too. She introduced the girl named Angie to Eva
Angie greeted Eva and got settled beside her, whereas Jacey excused herself to manage the party.
Angie soon got familiar with Eva; they started enjoying chatting and knowing about each other.
Soon the cake-cutting moment came, and everyone gathered around the small dining table. Everybody sang the birthday song for Jacey and the birthday girl cut the cake with a broad smile on her face
Soon, the friends began shifting some of the furniture.
It surprised Eva at what these people were up to.
But soon she smiled as the friends made a place in between the hall to dance.
Angie pulled Eva to dance too, and Eva joined them, enjoying herself on the music beats.
It’s a fact that she is not as rich as the Smith family, but she has no regrets about her life.
As for her dad, she is a princess, and till now he never turned a stone to keep her happy.
She was busy in her thoughts when Angie pulled her for the dance and Eva happily joined them
Eva was having fun at the party. She was enjoying the company of some new people.
After a good half an hour, Jacey has to interfere in between, as the dinner has arrived. Eva noticed it when she spotted Jacey receiving the parcel.
Soon, the friends started enjoying the food. Eva was having her food with Angie, as she really liked her company. A sudden message notification disturbed Angie. she checked it first, then she made a call to someone and gave her location
Eva, who was listening to her talk, guessed that maybe someone was coming to pick Angie
As the party is nearing an end soon
After some minutes, a tall, handsome man arrived at the doorstep. Everyone in the party was gawking at him as he looked like a model. Angie was the first one to greet him. He introduced him as her friend Robinson. .
Everyone greeted Robinson, who replied with a nod. Soon Angie took him in the aloof corner of the room, took out an envelope, and passed it to him while thanking him for something. Soon after, that man named Robinson left the place, bidding bye to everyone.
Eva was confused, so she asked Angie
“Why did your boyfriend leave so soon? And anyway, he is great looking; lucky you."
“Boyfriend! No, he is not my boyfriend. Actually, he is an actor by profession, and I had given him some acting, and he is here to just collect his check."
"Ooh, sorry, I hope I didn’t offend you by asking this."
“No, not at all."
“But don’t mind me asking. I mean, what exactly do you mean by acting?”
“Actually, I just had a breakup with my boyfriend last week.
But that jerk was not ready to leave me, so I just told a lie to him.
I have moved on and am now dating some other man who is much better than him.
Still, he was not ready to believe me, so one of my friends knew Robinson as you saw what kind of handsome hulk he is.
I offered him he should act as a boyfriend for me. , and I will pay for his help."
“And then?"
"Nothing; my ex-boyfriend saw me with him, and from that day on he didn’t irritate me. I am so peaceful now. Trust me, my ex has become a pain in the ass. He even behaved like a possessive jerk. Thank God I could breathe in peace now.
It surprised Eva to hear all this. She felt bad for Angie, who has to go through so much she could relate with her condition as Stephen smith is also becoming a reason of distress in her life
But the next moment, something clicked in Eva’s tiny brain
“How much did you pay him? “
“I paid him well. But why are you asking this?”
“No, actually my friend is also going through the same situation as you, so will he help her as he helped you? And don’t worry, she could pay the amount whatever he asks for."
“Well then, of course, he will be more than ready to help. You know he is still struggling for work, so it'll be a tremendous help for him too."
“Ooh! That’s great. Can you please give me his contact number? And yours too, as I will love to talk to you sometimes. I mean, if you don’t mind."
“Yes, of course I will love to hang out with you sometimes.”
Soon Angie and Eva exchanged their numbers and again started enjoying her food
A few minutes later, Eva’s eyes spotted Harry, who had just entered the living room. Jacey rushed towards him and hugged him
Eva passed a smile to Harry, but Harry just gave her a sharp look at her for a fraction of a second.
Eva wanted to finish her dinner fast and reach Harry, so she quickly started gulping her food, but after her dinner she searched for Harry, but to her dismay, she didn’t spot him anywhere in the party
So at last she asked Jacey
“Where is Harry? You know I want to apologize to him for not inviting in my birthday party."
“Harry!! He just left after greeting me.
I requested he stay for some more time, but he was in a hurry. Anyway, you can call him to apologize anytime, right?"
It shocked Eva to know Harry leaving the party so early but she just gave a weak nod at Jacey
Soon her phone started ringing. Steve named Flash on the screen. Eva picked the call and she came to know that he was waiting downstairs to pick her up as it’s already late
Eva told him she would reach there in a minute and then bid goodbye to Jacey and Angie.
She quickly reached the parking lot and found Steve standing, leaning on the car. Her bodyguard was passing him some water and talking to him. Somehow, Eva felt some tension in the air. Still she reached to Steve
Steve gave a fake smile at her and asked, “So how was the party?”
“It was too good? But why are you looking upset? Are you alright?
“Yes, I am fine. Come, we should start for home."
Eva gave a nod at him and got “settled in the car. During the ride again, Eva felt Steve was not acting like he does; a constant frown was stuck to his face. She didn’t inquire, as she thought it must have some business-related issues.

When Harry spotted Eva in the party, he just ignored her and greeted Jacey and soon left the party. He did not wish to attend this party but Jacey requested it, so he just went for formality’s sake but the moment he saw Eva, all the statements of his father came back to his mind
The day after Eva‘s birthday party, a lawyer arrived at their doorstep and told them about the will that made Eva the owner of fifty-five percent shares of the Hudson group of hotels.
This new information dumbfounded Hudson family
It surprised Harry to know that Eva is his cousin’s sister, the daughter of his aunt.
But when his dad stated some facts about the Johnson family, he came to know how that man named Michael Johnson trapped his aunt in his love and married her.
And of course the reason for his love was the fortune that his aunt carries on her name
In the present situation, Eva carries more fortune than Harry and his father. Harry didn’t know how to react, as till now he was upset that Eva didn’t invite him for her birthday party but now he is eager to know the reason behind it
Liam told Harry that now he understands the reason the Smith family is being so generous to Eva, as their only aim in keeping Eva with them is to snatch her property, and they are too evil to cross any limit to get their hands on her wealth.
Harry believes in every word that his father told him, as the rivalry between Hudson and Smith is not a secret thing.
In all these thoughts, he reached near his car. Soon his eyes land upon some familiar cars and he recognise the guard that used to accompany Eva in the classes
Soon he spotted Steve, who was busy on the phone. A wave of anger rushed through Harry‘s veins and he wanted to have a few words with Steve smith
Steve was there waiting for Eva as Stephen ordered him to pick Eva.
Stephen wanted to do it himself, but he knew Eva would not appreciate his presence, and he didn’t want to upset her.
Steve kept admiring Stephen‘s care towards Eva.
He told Stephen that he will take care of Eva And left for the address
After reaching the address, he met his security team, who were all present outside the building. He informed Stephen that he had reached on time and everything was fine but Eva was still enjoying the party, so Stephen told him to wait for some more time
After disconnecting the call, he found a very unexpected person marching towards him, so he stepped down to meet Harry Hudson
“Mr. Hudson, what brings you here? Ooh, they also invited you to this party, I guess."
“Leave that I am here to ask you something.”
“Yes, tell me."
“Don’t you people feel guilty for playing with that naive girl?”
“What do you mean, please elaborate, Mr Hudson? “ Steve asked in his firm tone, taking a step towards him
Harry chuckled and said, “As you don’t know why your family is being so kind and generous to Eva, you just want her money and only money
After that, you will throw her out of your life, won't you? I hope you and your brother will not taint her. You know what I mean?"
Listening to the last statement, Steve couldn’t hold more on his anger and plunged upon Harry to beat the shit out of the statement.
Harry didn’t get scared rather was ready to defend himself as well to beat Steve
Soon Harry’s security team that used to follow him secretly also rushed to the place, and soon the security personnel meddled in between and pulled both of them aloof for their safety.
“Take him out of my sight before I kill him, “Steve barked at his men
Harry's man took Harry with them and left the place. Steve jerked the hand away who was holding onto him. Eva’s bodyguard passed him some water. He gulped down the water and told the team,
“I don’t want any mistakes in her security arrangement; just be more careful around her."
First, he calmed down his anger, and then he called Eva. Soon Eva reached him, and Steve tried to hide the situation from her as he didn’t want to scare her, but he decided he had to discuss this meeting with Harry with Stephen and his dad.
