Finally
It was late afternoon, and we were somewhere in the middle of Indiana. I was on stage, looking out over the empty colosseum that would soon be packed with fans, when I got the call from my divorce lawyer, Jack. “Hey Theo, just calling to tell you the divorce went through. All’s good, my man. I sent you an email you can finish e-signing the last document. You know the drill. Then you are single and ready to mingle.”
He acted like my best bud, and after what I had paid him for the divorce, I couldn’t help but think he should at least take me to dinner and suck my—
“Thanks, Jack. That’s wonderful news. I will get that DocuSign right back to you.”
“No problem, Theo. Let me know if you have any questions or if anything comes up.”
“Ha. Is something going to come up?” I questioned.
“No, probably not. I’m just saying, call me if you need anything, bro.”
“Okay, gotcha. Thanks again, Jack, for everything.” He had been a good lawyer. I would be paying Amy a good amount of alimony for the next ten years, but that was to be expected. Comes with the territory, I suppose.
“No, thank you, Theo.”
“You’re welcome. Don’t spend all that commission in one spot.” We both chuckled, him more than me.
I wanted to hurry and sign those documents before the concert this evening. Not so much to be free of Amy, but to finally be able to move on with Jane. All I could think about was being with her in a way where I didn’t have to stop this time. I got hard just thinking about it.
“Theo, ten minutes until rehearsal,” Quinn yelled.
“Okay, I’ll be right there. I’ve just got to send a quick email,” I told him. “I’m officially divorced.”
Quinn came over and punched me in the shoulder. “That’s great, man.”
“What’s going on?” Gage asked while wandering over.
“Theo’s divorce went through,” Quinn told him.
Gage fist-bumped me. “I’m happy for you, bro.”
Dylan hovered. “Time to make a move on Jane.” He gave me the double eyebrow raise and punched me in the chest.
“First, I’ve got to go sign these documents. I’ll be out for rehearsal in ten.”
I hurried back to the small room backstage that was our little office slash hangout slash dining room and pulled up the DocuSign right away. Once I was finished with that, I immediately called Jane. “Damn.” Went straight to voicemail. I checked the time. It was 4:00 pm Colorado time; she was probably still at work, probably with a client. I left a voicemail, and it was impossible to hide my excitement over the phone.

Jane
“My divorce went through.” Theo’s hyped voice sounded on the voicemail. “Call me. I need to talk to you.”
I had been at showings all afternoon. In the message, Theo mentioned he had a concert that started at 7:00 p.m. I had my phone on silent during the showings, so I didn’t even get the message until eight. Dang. I sent him a text back.
Jane: So sorry I missed your call just got your message at 8 . I sent it knowing he wouldn’t see it until eleven when the show was over. I felt bad I had missed him. His divorce had gone through, and the first thing that crossed my mind was maybe now I can have sex with him . Bad Jane.
Once I was home, I made myself a quick salad and sat down to watch HGTV to try getting my mind off the thought of him preforming in front of all those people, mostly girls. Girls who love his music. Girls who love him. What if he invites another woman back to the after-party tonight? This was crazy. I was jealous. I had no right to be jealous. I’d literally seen him in person twice. Okay, plus a million times on Insta and YouTube, but that didn’t give me the right to be jealous.
Ding. My phone beeped. Oh my god. It was from Theo!
Theo: On intermission, can I call after the concert is over? It’ll be late?
Jane: Yes of course! :)
He didn’t answer. If it was like his break at the Red Rocks concert, he literally walked off the stage for two minutes while his band showed off their drum and guitar skills.
It was midnight when my phone rang. Life of a rock star. It was so good to hear his voice. I let go of a relieved breath as he spoke. “When can I see you again?” he asked, his breath raspy and seemingly as needy as I felt. There was no question what we would be doing when we saw each other again. “Can you come to my concert this weekend?”
“No, weekends are the busiest at work. If it was in town, I could pull it off.”
“You don’t really need a job, do you?” he joked. We considered it for a desperate moment before I got serious again.
“Do you have a concert on a Wednesday ever?”
“Let me look at the schedule.” The silence lingered for a moment, and I could hear my heartbeat. “Yes, New York on Wednesday, two weeks from now. Sucks. That’s so far away.” He groaned.
“I know, I know.” I bit my lip in anticipation. We agreed that the wait was going to be terrible and then discussed everything and nothing for the next hour.
“I’ll send the jet. I’ll text you all the details,” he said at the end of our call, our moods calmed by that point. My bedroom was dark, and I was all alone. I tossed and turned the rest of the night. I considered reaching into my nightstand to find something to take the edge off but decided to wait for the real thing. Theo Beckham inside of me—there could be no substitute. Once I finally fell asleep, the dreams came. I couldn’t help it. It was my subconscious, and it was driving me wild with need.
The next morning, I woke up talking to myself. “Damn, it’s going to be a long two weeks. I need coffee.” I texted Nikki and Bella.
Jane: I need you guys to keep me busy the next two weeks.
Bella: Oh, don’t worry girl, we’ve got you covered.
Nikki: Are you having Theo withdrawals?
Jane: Yes, even though I haven’t even had him yet. Sad face emoji.
I tried to stay busy at work to make the time go by faster. I hung out with Nikki and Bella a few nights. I even decided to hire a stylist to help me find a few outfits for the trip that were just hip enough to be classy yet sexy. A week before the concert, Theo sent roses with a note. “ Can’t wait to see you! ” A burning sensation grew deep inside my body. The wait was killing me.

New York City. I’d never been. The huge seat in the private jet cradled me as I watched out the window and admired the city below. I tried to pick out iconic sights from the sky before we landed. Nikki and Bella flew out with me so I wasn’t traveling alone into the unknown of rock star life. “We are here if you need or want us,” Bella said, smiling as we got off the jet.
“But we can disappear at a moment’s notice, if you know what I mean,” Nikki added with a wink. Everyone knew what she was alluding to.
The plan was to stay in New York on Wednesday and Thursday night then fly home Friday morning in time for showings. The three of us rented a one-bedroom hotel room with two queen-size beds. Theo had offered to put us up in a room, but we had already booked this one. The question of the moment was whether or not I was going to be sharing that room with them.
The girls were there somewhere, their backstage passes hanging from their necks. I was sure they were getting into trouble, flirting with all of New York’s finest, and exploring Madison Square Garden as I had some alone time with Theo. “I wish I had time to wine and dine you before the concert,” Theo said backstage in his VIP room. “But besides being short on time, I usually don’t eat dinner on concert nights,” he explained, “in order to not be pudgy and to be comfortable as I jump around for the three hours straight.”
“Pudgy?” I laughed. “Hardly.” My voice was raspy as I whispered into his ear, softly touching his already naked lower abs. He hissed and closed his eyes. I recognized that move instantly. “I have to do it too.” I confessed. “I have to close my eyes when I’m around you. Sometimes it’s hard to believe you are real.” Also, it helped when I was trying not to attack him constantly. Certain parts of my body began to ache.
“Tonight,” he said, answering my unasked question. It was so early. He still had a three-hour concert to perform before I could have alone time with him. It would be a slow burn for both of us! We were down to one-word explanations. It was all we could say or do not to spontaneously combust.
“Hi, Jane,” someone behind us said. It was Quinn, standing in the doorway with a huge smile. He pulled us from our intense moment, which was probably a good thing. “Nice to see you again.” He gave a little chuckle. “Hey guys, look who’s here.” He gave me a devious grin and Theo a head nod as he called for Gage and Dylan. Quinn walked over and pulled the three of us in for a huddle. “So… what’s the plan for tonight?” He laughed. I went bright red as Theo jokingly pushed him away.
“The whole band knows?” I asked, looking up to face all the men of Oxygen. They were like wolves in a pack, smiling at me hungrily.
“Yeah, pretty much. We can’t calm this sucker down.” Dylan laughed, hitting Theo in the arm.
“Thank god you are finally here, Jane,” Gage added. “Another night with this guy alone and we might all have gone crazy.”
“Suck that stress right out of him tonight, will you, Jane?” Quinn asked with a devilish look. The expression on my face had to be somewhere between completely horrified and completely turned on.
“Dude, shut the fuck up.” Theo punched him.
“Come on, let’s get out there,” Gage replied as he pulled Theo from me and winked. “There will be time for canoodling later.”
Theo’s hand slowly left mine. He gazed back at me. “See you soon,” he promised. The band walked away, and I could hear the banter continue between Theo and his besties. I gave a little wave, expectation hanging thick in the air.
As the concert was about to begin, I felt a little out of place. I stood on the side of the stage, surrounded by blackness and out of the view of the audience, but in complete view of the show that was about to start. Nikki and Bella showed up next to me at the last minute, their huge smiles helping to ease my nervousness.
The show began with Theo on the drums, and immediately, I’m dead. He’d sometimes play the drums and piano during concerts, and every time he played those drums, it was like a fire was set inside me, a fire that could only be quenched in one way and by one person. Theo Beckham! God. He. Was. Hot. I started dancing and singing like the rest of the crowd. It was crazy being this close to the action. Nikki, Bella, and I rocking out on the side of the stage was unforgettable. It was Theo’s idea for me to bring my friends because he didn’t want me traveling alone. He was a sweetheart, and that night, with my new man singing about twenty feet away, my heart raced wildly.
Then it was half time. Theo came pounding off stage and fell to the floor. I ran over to him. There was a little mat on the ground like a small mattress, and he lay there for one whole minute. He must have been exhausted. He’d just ran to the top level of the stadium to give the cheap seats a better view. It was awesome seeing his raw power and passion as he sang and ran up multiple flights of stairs. His bodyguards couldn’t keep up with him as the crowd came around him. I could understand why he would crash onto a mattress for his one-minute break while his band played.
After a minute, his manager gave him water which he gulped. Then he had a red bull that he chugged. He looked at me, pulled me into his sweaty body, and kissed me hard on the lips as he passed by. Then he bounced back on stage. The whole thing was raw, sexy, rock star passion, and my heart melted on the spot.
