Chapter 46 Sage
The tavern on campus wasn’t just great because of the entertainment, drinks, and food. If I needed to find some supernaturals to ask questions about a theory I had, they were there. Bonus points, faculty was there, too, so I also got to run it by two War Gods.
I had to wait for Professor Gefn to finish tearing Professor Adamastus a new asshole before I could approach.
Freya was a God of War, but she was also a God of Love and Beauty, so she knew Professor Adamastus was supposed to be with Morgana.
The faculty all loved Morgana because she was brilliant and worked hard.
I had to get back to my dorm because it was getting late, but when I found Morgana again, I was so telling her the reincarnation of Ares got called a meat-headed simpleton by the reincarnation of Freya for ignoring the bond this long.
She also walloped him on the back of the head, called him a donkey with a thick neck, and told him he was holding her back magically by not completing the bond with them.
Well, I also had questions about that in addition to running my plan by them.
Liam and I both got a little bit more of our magic when it was all of us together.
Professor Gefn said that was normal even if you weren’t in bed with the OG Fertility God and punched Professor Adamastus right in the dick.
Apparently, he was holding everyone back including himself by being hung up on the fact that he was her professor.
And Morgana was right. Everything I’d read about Ares since I got here was that he was a bit of a hothead who liked starting fights. He grunted when he got punched in the dick, walked over to the bar to ask for some ice, and then just sat there icing his nuts while I talked about my plan.
But it could work. The War gods and the supernatural students I asked confirmed it.
Of course, this was all hinging on all of us figuring out how to use magic the lore said we should have, but didn’t know how to use yet and my gut feeling that Adrian’s eternal flame was the key to keeping them in the void where they couldn’t just come back.
If strengthening our bonds meant more magic, then I wasn’t going to complain about spending time with my guys and having lots of sex.
Except for my plan to work, Adrian needed to be magically stronger, too, and Iman wasn’t down for sex with any of them yet.
I wasn’t going to tell her she had to because pressuring anyone into sex before they were ready was gross.
Adrian did a swap with Ivar, Ari, and Alexios’s roommates Morgana like I did. Iman had all but moved in, too. No one was complaining about Iman putting off sex, but Adrian seemed to be getting up to all kinds of foolishness trying to tempt her and he usually ended up dying again.
When I got back to my dorm, I thought announcing that my plan had the approval of two War Gods and involved lots of sex would get the seal of approval from everyone, but Liam had blood on his shirt and Lucian had blood on his trousers when I opened the door, so they’d better have a good explanation for that if they wanted an orgy.
I kicked the door shut behind me and just stood there staring with my arms crossed. It should be self-explanatory why I was pissed, but obviously not.
“So, I personally voted for kidnapping a pony shifter for two hours for making it seem like we didn’t think you were capable, so you left to shit-talk us with your girlfriends,” Liam said.
“It was just my jackal being stupid. We figured it out.”
“I claim no part in that. I knew you could handle yourself the whole time.”
Did they…? Boys were stupid sometimes. Did they really think I was still irritated they got all overprotective about the prophecy and not that Liam and Lucian were both covered in blood? I pinched the bridge of my nose and took in a deep breath.
“I’m actually over that. Anyone care to explain the blood?”
“That? That was just a misunderstanding. We sorted it, love,” Liam said.
“That wasn’t a misunderstanding, Liam. That’s assault.”
Liam screwed up his face like I was talking crazy.
“Why else would you stab someone? You generally need a reason and sometimes you find out later you were wrong about that. I’m rarely wrong, but I’m man enough to admit when I am.”
“I was just defending myself and getting a snack at the same time,” Lucian said.
“You’re both making this so much worse,” Khalid moaned.
“So, cards on the table, love. We’ve noticed you’ve been paler than usual and were talking about it while you were gone. Lucian dropped the bomb that stress can mess with diabetes and we both thought he was feeding on you, anyway.”
Was that why he hadn’t fed from me in the last two weeks? He’d been using the blood bar in the dining hall and biting Liam when Liam poked him. I thought he was just finally having baby vampire issues and was too full to feed from me.
“So, yes, stress can affect diabetes, but growing up in the same house as Blue Matthews was basically constant stress. He tried to control everything about my life and I had virtually zero privacy. It’s obviously not as stressful as stopping an age of inhumanity, but I know how to handle it.
The food from Fairy makes it so much easier.
I really just need to make sure I get enough sleep and I’ve been having trouble with that because it feels like I’m waiting for something to happen. That probably means something.”
“Are you mad? We aren’t trying to say we understand diabetes more than you do,” Khalid said.
“Obviously, I’m mad about the stabbing and biting, but not that you worried.
It’s nice that you give a shit. Blue Matthews only cared if it embarrassed him in public.
I still haven’t called my mother and I can’t until she’s away from him.
I don’t know if she checked out to protect me from him or she couldn’t stand looking at me because I look like him now that I’ve seen his ghost. But maybe talk to me about my disease instead of assuming and assaulting each other. ”
“We can do that. And if you need help, talk to us.”
“I do need help. Remember how I could see how it would go if we went after the crystals during the trials? I think I figured out how to successfully complete Alexios’s last prophecy about Winter Solstice and I need your help.
Only Lucian and I may be mentioned in the prophecy, but all of you are needed to end this. ”
Liam perked up right away, and I got it.
He should have been in the prophecy. Lola and Radames targeted him and he deserved his revenge.
I could feel that Adrian, Mazen, Lucian, and I weren’t enough to do this on our own.
We’d be doing the heavy lifting and Adrian would end it for good, but it wouldn’t work without help.
I was done doubting my gut feelings. They’d been right so far and my guys had done nothing but believe in me since we teamed up.
So, I told them my plan.
