Chapter 47 Khalid

I’d been thinking about Fate ever since Sage told us her plan. Sage could have told me I needed to dress in one of those inflatable T-Rex costumes and roller skate around the battle while yodeling to end this and I would have believed her because that was her gift.

That wasn’t what she said, of course. Her plan was good, and I learned my mate had a very devious side. This was all hinging on everyone getting magic they didn’t have yet, but she had a plan for that, too.

We just couldn’t start until Liam and Lucian showered the blood off of them.

Sage insisted, and I wasn’t all that wild about getting blood on me, either.

Liam jumped in and jumped out, but Lucian had an entire routine when he showered and it took forever.

It was annoying enough when I just wanted to wash magical combat off me, but he was holding up sex with my mate. Sage wouldn’t start without him.

So, I was thinking about Fate while we waited. This all came down to the Egyptian school needing to be repaired and them deciding to make upgrades since the school was going to be closed, anyway.

My life would be completely different. Sage was my mate, but if I hadn’t gone to school here, would I have caught feelings for someone else because I didn’t know any better?

Headmaster Mykene confirmed the pools did strange things if people got in them together and it would be entirely possible for the reincarnations of a God and his creation to get in one together and remember literally everything.

There were usually special circumstances when someone remembered their previous lives.

It would have been amazing to have Anubis’s memories from a historical perspective and knowing how all my magic worked. Anubis was married to Anput in his original life. I’d never been in love before Sage and I wouldn’t want feelings from former lives complicating things.

“Should I drag him out of the shower?” Liam asked.

I was on board with dragging Lucian out of the shower. I wasn’t involved in the stabbing and biting, so I didn’t have a drop of blood on me, but if Sage wanted me to shower before we had sex, I’d get clean, but I’d do it in a hurry. Liam and I had excellent hygiene, but Lucian took it a bit far.

“Don’t,” Sage said. “His routines make him comfortable. It’s not like I’m going anywhere.”

“You said you needed rest,” I pointed out.

Sage telling us she could handle things and just needed more sleep told me way more than sneaking peeks at her glucose monitor. Lucian heard her say she needed sleep. If he didn’t want to rush his moisturizing routine because sex was on the table, he could hurry up for that.

“It’s only seven thirty, and I’d like to not look like an idiot in Magical Combat in case someone pisses Professor Adamastus off again and we run laps, so this isn’t going to be an all-night thing. We have time.”

My jackal let out a growl I couldn’t even contain, and Liam’s eyes started glowing green. Making her run funny sounded like a challenge. It was like she pulled out a red cape and was waving it in front of us.

Lucian had better hurry up in there.
