Chapter 22
Miss LG
Lynn
“Daddy!”Trev’s boys call as we walk through the door.
“We saw you on TV. Are you all right?” The older one says.
“I’m fine. Just tired and hungry,” Trev replies as he hugs both his sons tightly.
You can feel the love between them. His sons peek around him to look at me. They both have smiles on their faces. They’re adorable.
“Hello, I’m Lynn. You boys can call me Cakes if you like. It’s nice to meet you. I’m sorry I had to rush off earlier,” I say and wave at them.
I get the feeling they’ve been waiting for me to get back more than anything. Their little faces lit up and their cheeks turned pink. The taller one steps around Trev first.
“We know who you are, Miss LG. I’ve been waiting all my life to meet you,” the older one says. “I’m Toby but you can call me Scoot, ma’am.”
“Nice to meet you, Scoot.”
“Hi, I’m Bam. Well Johnathan, but you can call me Bam, ma’am. You’re so little in person and really pretty,” the youngest one says.
I laugh. “I get that a lot. The little part. Thank you for the pretty comment. You boys are quite handsome yourselves. I remember when your daddy looked like each of you.”
“Really? Daddy looked like us?” Scoot asks with his chest poked out.
“Yes, he did.” I reach to ruffle his blond locks. “Had this haircut once too.”
“Cool,” he says.
I look up at Trevor. “Should Jess go to your place to pack something for you guys to stay the night?”
A look of surprise comes to his face. I smile and wait for him to recover. I figured he’d want to be here with me, but I don’t want him to feel torn between being a father and being with me.
“Yes, come on, Daddy. Please,” Scoot says.
Trev looks to Jess. “Would you mind? You can take them with you.”
“No problem. I’ve got it,” Jess says.
I move to Elise’s side and lean to whisper into her ear. “What are you up to?”
She looks at me and winks. “I’m being proactive. People need to see who he is.”
I nod my head. Matt and Elise have handled my PR for years. They’ve done a better job than the team I used to have. I look at my friend and think of all the hats she’s taken on over the years to look out for me.
Feeling emotional, I wrap an arm around her waist and place my head against her. She moves her phone she’s recording with to her other hand and wraps her arm around me.
“This too shall pass. I’m proud of you. You did the right thing.”

“You’re amazing,”Trev says as he buries his face in my neck after coming up behind me in the bedroom.
He’s been in the shower while I’ve been exploring the house. I just got back to the room, now I’ve been thinking and changing into some sweats to relax. I melt into him and savor the feel of his embrace. Again, I get the feeling of coming home.
I feel completely safe. Happiness bubbles up in me. I crane my neck to look at him.
He lifts his head and pecks my lips. I turn in his embrace and reach to wrap my hands around his neck as I lift on my toes. He presses his forehead to mine.
“You’re not so bad yourself. Trev, this house is everything. You nailed it and then some.”
“I’m glad you like it. Thank you for welcoming my boys in.”
“Well, there’s sort of a little surprise in the kitchen.”
“I knew it smelled good in here. Let me guess, the boys called Snacks to brag then she had Nanna bring her over,” he says and chuckles.
“Elise went and got her. Nanna sent over a few pies.”
“Oh shit,” he bites out and frowns.
“What just happened?”
I tilt my head as his cheeks pink as he bites his lip. My curiosity is piqued. I lift a questioning brow.
“I came by the hotel yesterday with our cupcakes. Snacks helped me bake a batch. I left them in my truck after I didn’t get to see you,” he says, now fully blushing.
“You were at the hotel yesterday? What happened?”
“You guys walked into the lobby and all hell broke loose. I didn’t know if I belonged there.”
I palm the side of his face. “First, you belong wherever I am. Same as I belong where you are. Second, you brought me cupcakes?”
“I wanted to call a truce. I didn’t know why we were at odds. I was hoping our pact would hold and you’d have to talk to me,” he says.
“Trevor Monroe. You’re so freaking adorable right now. Honey, I adore you,” I sing as I snicker.
His stomach growls and I laugh more. He leans down and takes my lips in a toe-curling kiss. Cupping my ass in his palms, he pulls me into his body and groans.
His stomach growls again. I pull back laughing. He shakes his head and frowns.
“Snacks just started cooking. Maybe we should go get those cupcakes to tie you over,” I say.
“Where are Scoot and Bam?”
“Hanging with Wilson and Matt. They’ll be fine with them. Maggie is lurking like a mama bear.”
“You still want to look through those books? How about we ride over to the main house and pick them up while we’re at it,” he says.
“Oh, I forgot about that with everything going on. Elise took care of Daddy’s transfer. Everyone worked to coordinate the move here, but those books slipped my mind.”
“Then come on. I don’t know what we’ll find in that cupcake holder, but we can get those books. I’ll drive us over.”
“Okay.” I go to grab my sneakers and put them on.
That’s when it occurs to me that Trevor is dressed in fresh clothes. Jess came back with a duffle bag for herself, but I didn’t see her hand a bag to her dad.
I snort to myself. “Trev?”
“Yeah, darlin’.”
“Do you have clothes here? I mean, have you had clothes here all along?”
“I do,” he says sheepishly.
I laugh and shake my head. If I had doubts about him wanting me back, this house has shown me the truth. He’s been waiting.
This was supposed to be our life.

Trevor
It feelsgood to be able to laugh like this. We haven’t stopped laughing since getting into my truck. We found the cupcake holder but there were only two sorry-looking cupcakes left.
It looks like my boys found them first. I’m guessing the melted frosting didn’t bother them none too much.
“You know, I can’t even blame them. Their daddy used to steal my cupcakes all the time,” Lynn says through her laughter.
“Well, I’ll be having a talk with them. They know better than to touch things they find in my truck. As a matter of fact, they know better than to touch anything that ain’t theirs.”
“But they’re so cute. I can’t be mad at them. They must have been good. I don’t see any crumbs.”
I pull up to the main house and park. The lights are all off. I don’t think Darla is home.
Looking at the dash, I’m figuring she’s still visiting with Moses. So many memories come back to me of this house. I spent as much time here as I did on my family’s ranch.
It’s almost bittersweet sitting here. I sigh and shake the nostalgia off. This day seems like it’s dragging on for forever.
“Leave those here. We can share them later,” I murmur before pushing my way out of the truck.
I round it and open her door for her to step out. I love how she’s transformed from the super star singer to the girl next door with her sweats and ponytail. Seeing her like this reminds me of the girl I used to know.
“What?” she asks as I stand staring down at her.
“I’ve missed you so damn much. I love you.”
“Aww,” she drags out and smiles at me. “Come here.”
She grabs the front of my shirt and tugs me into her. I dip my head and take her lips. A smile comes to my lips as I shove one hand into the back of her sweats and slip the other under her sweatshirt.
I love her fat tits and ass. Her breast fits into my palm perfectly. She moans as I find her slick seam from behind.
“Trev,” she gasps as she breaks the kiss.
I clear my throat as I pull away. “Sorry, darlin’. I got a little carried away.”
“Come on. We have time for all of that later, cowboy.”
“Um, in that case, lead the way. Let’s get this taken care of.”
I lace my fingers with hers and we move for the Galveston residence. I notice the tension coming off her. I look at her and see sweat dewing on her nose and lip.
“You haven’t been here since you’ve been back?”
“Not in the main house. I’ve meet with Mama and the staff in the stables and bunkhouses. I’ve sort of been avoiding the house.”
“So I’m not the only reason you’ve been running from Texas?”
She stiffens beside me. I give her hand a gentle squeeze.
“I’m not judging you, baby. I’m only making an observation.”
“A lot of things didn’t work out the way I thought they would. Coming home has felt like I’m digging up so much I mean to keep buried,” she says.
I get the same feeling I got last night from her words. I work my jaw as I think of something happening to her while we were apart.
I go to ask, but she has stopped in front of Brooke’s old room. I hold my thoughts for later and wrap my arms around her from behind, burying my face in her hair.
“You want to go in?”
“I don’t know.”
“I’m here for whatever you decide.”
She reaches out a shaky hand then pulls it back. I realize I’ve been holding my breath. Lynn shakes her head.
“No, I don’t want to open that wound right now. Wait here for me. I’ll go get the books and be right back,” she murmurs.
I release her. She starts down the hall for Moses’s office. I’m left staring at Brooke’s old bedroom door.
A chill runs through me, and I turn. Lynn’s old bedroom comes into view. I cross the hall to walk into the room and smile.
I move to the dresser where the stuffed bears are lined up on top. Reaching for the brown one, I lift it and squeeze the hand. Disappointment fills me when the sound box doesn’t work.
I still remember the day Pook and I went to make this bear for Cakes. Pook had left a message in her voice. I give the bear a hug and place it back in its spot.
“Oh wow, they haven’t changed a thing,” Lynn says from behind me.
I turn to find her looking around. It seems like only yesterday that I stood right where she’s standing while asking her to come with me to Paris. We’ve lost so much, but now we have a chance to gain so much back.
“You have all you need?” I ask.
“Yeah, we can head back.”
“I have a better idea. You up for a little adventure?”
A tiny smile comes to her lips. I’m not ready to share her with a house full of people. While I’m feeling nostalgic, I know just the place we should go.
“I think I like the way that sounds. I’m all yours.”
