Chapter 4

Chassie

Isend his call to voicemail. It’s the second time Dusty’s tried to reach me today.

I think he knows Miranda saw him last night with his date and now he’s trying to run interception.

At this point, I don’t even care anymore what he does with other women.

My attachment to Dusty seems to be fading faster by the day.

When Miranda told me she saw him making out with a girl in the movie theater last night, I didn’t even feel sick to my stomach or riddled with jealousy.

My mind drifted back to Preacher and the little bet we’ve got going.

I actually can’t wait to get home. I’ve been looking forward to seeing him all day. I’m wondering what his next move is going to be. Whether he’ll try to use those smooth words to get me to kiss him. I may not let him win the game, but I can certainly have fun playing it.

When my phone dings with a text from Dusty, I can’t help but roll my eyes.

Rockland: Hey babe, it’s me. Been trying to reach you today, but you must be busy at work.

I miss you and was thinking it was time we got back together.

Things are slowing down at work. In fact, I’m off the clock tomorrow night and wanted to take you out.

What do you say? Will you give your Dusty boy another chance? This time I promise to do things right.

This is what he does. Every time he knows he fucked up, he comes crawling back.

He lassos me right in, gets me thinking that an engagement is right around the corner, that we’re going to be walking down the aisle, and then—he finds some excuse for why we can’t get married right now.

School is too stressful, work is too busy, we can’t afford a wedding.

We should have our finances figured out first before we walk down the aisle.

My mind drifts back to Preacher, and I shake my head.

I don’t need to go falling for another guy who isn’t capable of commitment.

In a few days, he’ll be going back to the sweetbutts, enjoying all the attention those girls offer.

I definitely don’t need to tempt myself into that toxic situation and wind up feeling even worse about myself.

“Honey, I’m home,” I call out as I enter my apartment.

I’m actually early today. I couldn’t wait to get home, so I got all of my tasks done ahead of schedule.

It’s amazing what one can get done when motivated to get out of that place.

I cleaned all the animal cages and sanitized every surface.

By the time I was done, the place looked spick-and-span, and the animals had all had their shots and their walks, and Dr. Scarbin was pleased.

But poor Miranda thought I was working off my anger and heartache on the floors after what she’d told me.

I wasn’t thinking about Dusty at all. I was thinking of the man who’s nowhere in sight.

Preacher must’ve gone with Payton on her walk.

That at least gives me a chance to get showered before I see him. I don’t want to smell like wet dog again today. Wet dog mixed with ammonia. Gross.

I enter my bedroom and hear the shower running. Along with… the sound of a low groan.

“Oh, fuck. That’s it, baby. Take me all the way down that throat.”

You’ve got to be kidding me. Is he in my bathroom fucking someone? The nerve!

I storm in ready to tell him and his slut to get the fuck out, but…

he’s all alone. There isn’t anyone with him.

He’s stroking his own cock with a fisted grip as he stands under the shower spray.

All the rivulets of water running over every carved muscle, running down his dark patch of hair, down into his dark curls…

Oh my, he is big.

“You want to join me, or do you prefer to watch?”

My eyes snap up and his are now open and smiling at the fact that he caught me watching him.

I swallow the pool of saliva that had formed in my mouth, struggling to form a clear thought.

“I… um… why are you in my shower?”

“Look at me, Chassie.” His voice is so dark and commanding. And his eyes… They’re almost black. There’s not a single fleck of amber glowing in their depths. It must be the steam from the shower having the effect. “I want you to lower your eyes and watch me.”

My eyes drop on his command, and a gasp leaves my throat. His hand slowly strokes over his shaft. So thick. So long. So deep in color. It’s as perfect as the rest of him.

“Do you see how hard you make me? All day I was thinking about you and that fiery little mouth of yours. Before you walked in, I was about to make you swallow my cum. I had you on your knees, that fine ass resting on your feet and those pretty lips were wrapped around my dick, eagerly taking me down. And I was going to make you swallow every drop as I fucked the back of your throat.”

I reach for the doorframe as my body trembles. His hand is stroking faster and the veins in his forearm are strained. All of his muscles are tight under the tension.

“Tell me how wet you are.” His voice is a hardened rasp. “Tell me how much that little pussy wants me.”

I can’t even breathe, let alone formulate any words. I feel like I’m in that shower with him, my panties are soaked through. The steam is running through my veins, making every inch of my skin hot.

“Say it, Chassie. Tell me that little pussy is throbbing.”

“Preacher,” I gasp, clinging to the doorframe, the fire ready to claw out of my skin.

“Fuck, baby.”

My vision clears at the sound of his wild groan. His head falls back on his shoulders, and his fist pumps almost violently as the cum shoots from the end. The white seed runs down the drain along with the soapy water. My entire body is pulsing, swirling that same drain as I grow dizzy on my feet.

One final grunt and his eyes open, landing right on me.

“It’s only a matter of time, babe.” The water shuts off and he reaches for the towel, not even bothering to cover himself. It’s still hard. Still standing up. Even bigger and thicker now that it’s not covered in soapy suds. And it’s moving closer.

“You kiss me now, and I’ll drop to my knees and take that ache away.” He stops before me, staring down. “I’ll slide my tongue between those legs and lick up every drop of the mess I caused.”

Oh God.

“What do you say, Chass? Are you going to give into what I know you want, or are you still trying to hold out?”

It’s not a matter of want. It’s a matter of not wanting to be insignificant. I’ll just be another girl he sleeps with. One of the many that have come and gone from his bed.

“It’s my turn to shower.” I cock my chin. “Do you mind?”

His crooked smile is back. “So stubborn.” He shakes his head. “I think it’s only fair I get to stay and watch. After all, you thoroughly enjoyed the show.”

I did. Undeniably. But I won’t be returning the favor.

“Sorry. You’ll only get the pleasure if you win the bet. And it doesn’t look like that’s going to be the case.”

His chuckle rolls over me, hindering my ability to think… and breathe… and stand tall. Flirting with him is quickly becoming my guilty pleasure.

“You’ll learn soon enough that you should never bet against me. I don’t lose, pretty girl.”

His lips brush against my ear before he pulls away and walks out of my bathroom, leaving me completely drenched. He certainly doesn’t play fair.
