Chapter 5
Preacher
Iwant to open that bathroom door and watch that pretty baby wash herself.
Rub those fingers between those legs and play with her clit.
I know she’s nice and swollen. I saw those tight nipples poking through her shirt.
Those cheeks all hot and pink. Her lungs panting as she watched.
She wanted a taste, sliding that little tongue across her lip.
She wanted it bad. And I’m sure if I went in there right now, she’d let me have her.
But I’m going to behave.
I’m enjoying this little game with her too much to see it come to an end.
“Good shower?” Payton asks as I enter the kitchen.
Best shower I’ve ever had.
“Yeah, I needed that.” I’ve been wanting to see that girl all day, and lucky me, she got home just in time for the grand finale.
“Are you hungry?” she asks. “I can make us some dinner.” She moves to the fridge and starts rummaging through the shelves, and my eyes drift back to Chassie’s door. “I don’t know. Maybe we should just order something.”
“Or,” I tell her, rising from the table. “You can take a seat and let me cook dinner for you girls tonight. Both of you had a long day.” And I need to keep myself busy. This pent-up tension needs to be put to some sort of use.
I get to gathering, looking for all the ingredients of one of my mom’s recipes. The only two things they don’t have, I can improvise with something else, so I start to cook.
“Something smells good.” Chassie finally emerges from her room. Took her long enough. I was beginning to wonder whether she was going to avoid me for the rest of the night.
“Preacher’s making us dinner,” Payton tells her. “Preacher? How’d you get your name?”
I flip the steaks over and turn. Damn, Chassie looks good.
Her hair is pulled up on the top of her head showing off that neckline.
She’s not aiming to impress in that outfit, which makes her even prettier.
The girls I usually spend time with try way too hard to gain my attention.
But not the one who’s grabbing a beer and taking a seat, doing everything she can to avoid eye contact.
“My father was a pastor. When I met King, it was with a bible in hand.” I was praying by the lake for my mother to be healed of her cancer.
But it wasn’t long after that day, that she was taken from this great earth.
Now, she’s up in heaven, most likely shaking her head at me.
“He told me that sometimes we find our biggest blessings at the end of our pain. Then he asked me if I wanted to take a ride on his motorcycle and have some fun.”
Both girls look horrified, like I was lured away by a monster, but King’s an honorable man. Obviously, or I wouldn’t be standing here.
“He took me for a ride and took my mind off my dying mother, then he dropped me off on my father’s church steps and told me to come find him if the pain ever tried to take me down again.
The day my father died—leaving me orphaned and afraid— I showed up on the Savage Knights’ doorstep, not knowing where else to go.
King took me in and the clubhouse has been my home ever since.
” He didn’t just give me a roof, he gave me a purpose, and the pain hasn’t returned since.
“Called me the Preacher’s kid, and the name stuck. ”
The girls have grown quiet. I turn my attention back and find them both sitting with tears in their eyes.
“I’m sorry for your loss, Preacher.” Chassie’s words drift right into my chest. “That had to be hard.”
“Thanks, babe. But I’m doing good. Okay, that’s enough of me making you sad. How about I tell you some jokes and we eat?”
And for the rest of the night, I make it my mission to keep a smile on that pretty girl’s face. Watching her light up with laughter may have just become my favorite pastime. Though, a close second is making her blush.
Eventually, Payton leaves us on the couch and drags herself to bed.
The girl has to be tired after the day she’s had, and then she’s going to get up and do it all again tomorrow.
I should probably get to bed myself. I’m going to be right there with her, shoveling stalls and carrying hay bales.
But I don’t want my time with Chassie to come to an end.
“I should probably call it a night, too.” Chassie goes to stand, but I reach for her hand, locking my fingers with hers. Her head turns, and when our eyes connect, the burn runs all the way down to my toes.
“Don’t go, babe. I want to know more.”
I want to know everything. I could listen to her for hours. Flirt with her endlessly. I can’t remember a time I’ve been so interested in a woman.
“What do you want to know?”
First, I’d like to know why there’s a tremble in her voice. And why she’s suddenly breathing harder. I want to know why her cheeks are growing hotter and if she’s feeling the pull between us. I’ve never been drawn to anyone. Not like this. Never like this.
“Why don’t you start from the beginning? And don’t leave anything out. I want to know what little Chassie was like as a kid.” I want to know what turned her into this fiery goddess. “Were you always this stubborn?” I tease, scooting closer.
She casts me a glare, but then she gifts me with a giggle. The girl unravels me with that sound. It makes my heart beat fast.
“Only since I met you did I learn the trait,” she teases right back.
And that’s exactly how our night goes. Tit for tat.
A sparring match of flirtation. And by the time she needs to get to bed, I feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins.
My need for her is pulsing in my blood. I walk her to her room and reach for her cheeks, my thumbs swiping over the blush forming on each one.
The need to kiss her is pulling at my gut, but I’m not going to do it.
I’m not ready to win the bet. We’ve only just begun.
“Good night, sweetheart. Sleep well.”
I place a gentle kiss upon her forehead then let her go, giving her a wink before I turn. There’s a shift in the air, or maybe it’s in my chest. Either way, something has changed. I can feel it.
