35. Hayat
Chapter Thirty-Five
Hayat
Turning slowly, I met my dad’s gaze and gave him a bright smile. “Hey, Dad. Great wedding, isn’t it? Are you and Mom having a good time?”
His eyes drifted over the three men around me, his nostrils flaring as flames burned in those blue depths. It didn’t help that Jace came to stand beside him as backup.
I hummed softly, discreetly glancing around until I spotted Poppy and blinked at him in our SOS signal. He nodded and started our way.
“What the fuck is this?” Jace demanded, circling his finger to indicate me and my rockers.
“Oh, sorry, did I not introduce you?” I threaded my arm through Ky’s while linking my fingers with Jamie’s and sending Sparks a sweet smile that he returned. “These are my boyfriends. Ky, Jamie, and Sparks. Again, sorry, but since they’re the new band at First Bass, I figured you already knew them. My bad.”
“Hayat,” Dad snapped. “You’re dating three guys. At the same time?”
“Basically,” I said with a nod.
“And are they seeing other girls while you’re seeing the three of them?”
“No!” I squawked, while all three of my guys were quick to assure Dad that it was just me for them.
“We love Hayat, sir,” Sparks told him.
“We only want Hellion,” Jamie told him, sounding wounded that he even had to explain that.
“She’s all we could ever have asked for. Beautiful, sassy, puts us in our place, and kicks ass at the drums,” Ky gushed. It was a bit over the top, but I kind of liked that he exaggerated a little. “Hayat is all we need to be happy, sir. And that’s not ever going to change.”
Dad and Jace both opened and closed their mouths like fish for almost a full minute, unable to find more questions to throw at them or argue that I shouldn’t have three boyfriends at the same time.
“You said you didn’t plan on getting married,” Dad finally said, as if he’d caught me in some lie.
“Um, I’m not planning any weddings for myself anytime soon, Dad,” I told him with a roll of my eyes. “Marriage isn’t on my radar. But why does it have to be marriage or nothing? I mean, Jace was with Kin for years before they got married.”
With a grunt, Jace muttered something under his breath. Ears turning red, he walked away. He definitely didn’t like to be reminded of how long it took him to pull his head out of his ass and finally marry Kin. But thankfully, by that time, Poppy came up beside Dad, slapping him on the back. Maybe a little harder than needed, but he was a tough-love kind of person when it came to his only daughter’s husband. We all knew Poppy respected Dad. He just liked giving him shit.
“I see you three are finally in the same place at the same time.” Poppy held out his hand, shaking Sparks’s hand first and then working his way to Jamie then Ky. “Nice meeting you boys. Heard good things about you from my girl here. Mostly good, anyway.” His eyes narrowed briefly on Ky, the swirl of brown not the shade anyone wanted directed on them.
I bit my lip so I wouldn’t laugh, because Ky deserved it—a little.
“Nice meeting you, sir,” Ky greeted Poppy. “It’s a pleasure.”
“Mm-hm,” Poppy grumbled. “Jury’s still out on that. I’ll be keeping my eye on you, boy.” His gaze went to Sparks and Jamie, the brown swirls softening somewhat. “All of you.”
“Yes, sir,” all three of my rockers said in unison.
Poppy winked at me. “Well, you four enjoy the rest of the reception. Cake will be cut soon if what Emmie said means anything.” What Aunt Emmie said meant everything. “Harris, find your wife. Maybe dance with her and stop terrorizing your daughter.”
“See you later, Poppy,” I called after him. “Save me a dance.”
“Sure will, sunshine,” he said, throwing up his hand.
I blinked up at Dad, giving him a sweet smile. “I think Mom is over there with Kin. Don’t you want to dance with her?”
Grumbling to himself, he scowled at my boyfriends and stomped away. No doubt plotting murder, but at least I had a biker, mafia prince, and a cartel assassin as allies to keep my rockers safe. Plus Sammy. I really didn’t want to know what her special skills were, but I was certain karma and fate could eat a bag of dicks as long as I had Sammy on my side.
Want more Hayat and her three rockers?
They’re coming soon.
And then I’m giving them another book!
