Chapter 14
Fourteen
Charlie
I make my way through the clubhouse, stepping over debris, and even a couple of brothers. I pick my way over to the men to reach the kitchen, needing carbs and something greasy to soak up the alcohol sloshing around in my stomach. Luckily, the kitchen is untouched.
“Would you like some help making breakfast?” Tasia mumbles as she pushes through the door, still yawning.
“I would gladly take some help. These men are going to need something to soak up the massive amounts of shit they drank,” I laugh, pulling out a large amount of bacon, eggs, sausage, peppers, and onions.
Tasia moves to the counter with a knife and cutting board, starting on the peppers as I place bacon on cookie sheets to put in the oven.
We work together side by side, not saying much as we make a large amount of food.
Just as the second pot of coffee is done, a couple of brothers stumble into the kitchen.
“Bless you.”
“My angel.”
“Sent from heaven.”
They mumble to us as each brother makes a plate, dropping a kiss on the top of our heads as they walk past us. The last of the eggs are just coming out of the pan when Blitz comes up wrapping his arms around my waist from behind me.
“Mmm … I could get used to watching you make breakfast in my shirt. The only thing that could make it better was if we weren’t surrounded by all my brothers,” he breathes across the back of my neck. “I would pick you up and place you on this counter and eat you as my starter for breakfast.”
Moaning quietly, I lean my head back onto his chest, closing my eyes and enjoying the feeling of being in his arms. He and I stand there just taking in being together as men come and go, fixing plates, cups of coffee, and small-talking.
Pulling away, I wrap my arms around his neck, go up on my toes and kiss him softly on the mouth before pulling away to get my own plate and cup of coffee.
Blitz and I take a seat with Mercy and Ainsley, tucking into our food.
“Church starts in ten minutes. What’s your plan today?” Blitz asks around a mouthful of food.
“Just cleaning up my bar and restocking. Going for a run sounds good too,” I tell him.
“Okay, I’ll find you after church,” Blitz kisses the side of my head then my mouth before standing and leaving.
I nod, finishing my food before going out into the great room and getting started on the bar.
It takes me about two hours to get it cleaned and stocked.
Looking out over the room, I smirk as I watch the three new prospects cleaning up the mess.
Every so often one growls, mutters, or nearly throws up when he finds a couple of used condoms.
Leaving the great room, I go to get ready for the day, then decide a soak in the tub is exactly what I need.
My phone dings in my pocket, like every day since the day we made the call to NOS.
He has texted me daily, each one getting more aggressive and threatening.
I’ve let the brothers know each and every time.
This one hits differently, so I take note to tell the brothers when they get out of church.
Reading it one more time, I shake my head, wondering to myself why this man is so obsessed with me.
NOS: The day is getting closer. I hope you’re ready.
Blitz is still in church, so I put my phone on the counter with music playing and turn the water on so it can start filling up the tub.
I pile my hair up on top of my head and set my Kindle on the side of the tub before sliding into the water.
Laying my head back, I erase everything from my mind and relax.
I’m just getting to a juicy scene in my book when the sound of my phone vibrating gets my attention.
Nervously, I pick it up, sighing when I see it’s a message from Blitz.
Blitz: Church is over. I’m going to the conference room to work. If you need me, just let me know.
Me: Okay, good luck with work! This is my current situation.
I send him a picture of me in the tub with the water just high enough to cover all the important parts.
Blitz: Sassy woman. My palm is feeling itchy.
Grinning, I send a couple more racy pictures before I scrub my body and step out of the tub. I’ve just wrapped a towel around my body when my phone starts ringing. Picking up, I smile when I see Ainsley’s number.
“Hey lovie,” I answer.
“Hey hooker, what’re you doing today?” she asks me.
“Lying in my bed or on the couch and reading my book,” I state firmly.
“Oh, couch rot day sounds amazing! Wanna turn it into a girl's day?” Ainsley aks hopefully.
“I can get behind that. The new prospects should have the great room cleaned up by now. Meet at the couches in twenty?” Excitement builds in my chest.
Exactly twenty minutes later, we’re all gathered on the couch. Sunny, Tasia, Ainsley, and I are laughing and snacking when Ivy and her lap dog come strutting into the room looking like streetwalkers. Ivy sneers, looking all of us up and down.
“There was a time that the club wasn’t full of mediocre women,” Ivy snaps.
I’m done. This bitch has talked shit about my friends one too many fucking times. Standing from the couch, I turn, running my eyes over her.
“Mediocre, you say? It would appear to me that the clubhouse has finally gotten some class,” I lay on my southern drawl.
I move so that there is now nothing between us, preparing for the full confrontation that is about to happen.
“You stupid bitch,” she stomps over to me, getting in my face. “You three are fucking nothing. When the brothers tire of you, they’ll be right back to us because unlike you dumb bitches, we know how to satisfy a man.” Ivy’s words are pure venom.
Stepping closer to make sure she hears every word I have to say, I reply, “If I catch you anywhere near Blitz, I will use your face to wipe down my fucking bar. That man is mine. And he’s got two options—by my side and in my bed, or fucking dead.
So, listen closely. If you don’t stay the hell away, what I do to you will make what Blender does look like child’s play. ”
Ivy narrows her eyes at me, and before I can do anything, she slaps me. The sting is like fire on my cheek. I look at her and allow a slow smile to break across my lips.
“Okay,” I say, before reaching out and grabbing her by the back of her bleached, fried hair, bringing her face down to meet my knee as it comes up.
The crunch from her face hitting my knee causes everyone around us to gasp.
She goes to fall to her knees, but I drag her up, hauling her over behind the bar where there is a sink.
Ivy tries to fight me the entire way, but I use my free hand to punch her in the ribs.
I turn the faucet on and force her face under the flow of water.
She screams and gargles water, trying with everything she has to break free of the hold I have on her.
Boots rushing in from every direction has me finally letting her go, and I drop her to the floor.
The brothers are looking between me and Ivy on the floor.
The other girls are trying to figure out what happened.
I cross my arms over my chest, lifting my chin in defiance, waiting for the inevitable consequences that are about to come down.
“Do I want to know what happened here?” Raider finally drawls, holding a hand out to Tasia, who instantly stands, tucking herself into his side.
“Ivy was running her nasty cocksucker about how when Mercy, Raider, and Blitz are bored with us they’ll throw us to the side.
Charlie decided she was done with Ivy’s venom and bullshit.
” Ainsley waves a hand in my direction. “And well, she showed the whore what happens when you keep coming for a man that is spoken for.”
Raider looks down at Tasia, “Is that what happened?”
Tasia sighs, running her hand up his chest. “Yeah, Ivy seems to think that just because we don’t have property cuts or tags, that we’re just here for you all to pass the time.”
“Fuck,” Raider hisses. “Remedy, get Ivy off the floor and to her room. Make sure she doesn’t need an actual doctor. Charlie, can you do me a favor and not beat up the Club Bunnies? We don’t have enough as it is.”
Shrugging, I reply, “I can’t make promises I can’t keep, but I will do my best not to act violently against the stupidity that hangs out in the club.”
Raider pinches his nose. “Blitz, come get your woman.”
Blitz comes storming down the hallway. “What the fuck happened?”
“Let's just say the Club Bunnies will no longer bother the Ol’ Ladies,” Token chuckles.
Blitz gazes around the room, a look of pure confusion on his face. “Sparrow, explain.”
I lean on my elbows with a sigh. “Ivy was spewing venom from the sewage hole she calls a mouth. I was sick of it and decided the only way she was going to learn was through a hands-on lesson. The lesson was provided and now I don’t see us having any further issues going forward.”
“Is she still breathing?” Blitz asks.
“Through her mouth,” I wink at him.
Blitz comes to stand across the bar from me, hooking his knuckle under my chin, pulling me to meet his kiss. “I’ve got shit to do. Play nice.”
I pull back just slightly. “I always play nice, just not always fair.” I nip his bottom lip before dancing away.
“Oh, sweet Sparrow,” he chuckles, before turning to leave the great room.
“Wait, you're supposed to be handling this.” Rhino laughs as Blitz heads back down the hall towards the conference room.
He stops at the mouth of the hallway, looking over his shoulder. “It would appear to me that she’s got it all under control. Shit, there isn’t even any blood on the floor.”
I laugh at his answer as I pour myself a drink and go back to sit on the couch.
I hit play on the movie and ignore all the people in the room.
It doesn’t take but a second for Ainsley and Tasia to come join me back on the couch.
We spend the rest of the day cuddled on the couch watching, napping, scrolling, and just being lazy.
At some point, the feeling of being lifted off the couch brings me out of the blissful dream I was in.
Turning to bury my face in a hard chest, Blitz’s smell washes over me and has me drifting back to sleep.

It’s been two days since the interaction with Ivy and the message from NOS.
She is fine if not pissed off. The original planned day to meet NOS was delayed and the guys are pissed because the meeting was pushed back.
Blitz has also spent the last two days going over the plan for today.
They’ve taken most of everyone with them, leaving only Hermes, Anvil, Satchel, and the three new prospects to watch over us.
There is a group going with Raider and Terro, and then another that is going to be coming from a different way as a surprise attack.
That is all he was able to safely tell me.
We spent last night locked in our room worshiping each other.
I cried in his arms because the fear of losing someone else that I love was nearly my undoing.
Blitz spent hours promising me that everything was going to be fine.
That with the Knights clubhouse being blown to hell, we had the advantage.
My gut is telling me it isn’t going to be that easy.
Though at this rate, I don’t know if it’s truly my intuition or my anxiety.
Ainsley and I are lying out on the back patio reading with the heaters on and two prospects hovering. When the sound of motorcycles come rumbling down the road, I bolt upright and look around because it doesn’t seem right. The guys haven’t been gone long enough.
Satchel burst through the back door. “We’re under attack.”
My heart sinks and my head spins. I freeze, unable to move or act.
This can’t be happening. Losing any one of the people in this building would be the absolute death of me.
A gentle hand on my back causes me to jump and suck in a breath.
Looking up to the stocky prospect who is now standing next to me.
“We need to move,” his tone is easy and cautious.
“I can’t move. I’m frozen,” I decide to be honest.
“Do I have your permission to pick you up? Being in the open isn’t good.”
Him asking to pick me up causes me to finally pull myself together. “Sorry, I’m good to go,” I tell him as I head for the door.
We’re coming down the hall towards the great room when a boom rattles the clubhouse. We all stop moving for a split second before we’re being rushed into the great room. Everyone else is already there. Hermes comes out of his room, following us.
“We need to get everyone into the panic room. They just blew the front gate open,” Hermes says quickly.
The sound of gunfire has my blood running cold.
Anvil smirks. “Guess they didn’t know we now have two top-ranked snipers as part of the club.”
The gunfire outside the clubhouse continues as we’re being rushed into the panic room. I’m sitting on one of the bunks, holding Sunny’s shaking hand. Anvil scans everyone, winks at Sunny, and closes the door. Just as it shuts completely, the sound of rolling thunder hits me.
