Chapter 15

Fifteen

Blitz

Leaving Charlie in bed is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

Knowing that by the end of the day, she would be forever safe and mine helps to calm me.

She’ll never have to worry or look over her shoulder gives me the strength and ability to leave her here.

We meet in church, going over the final plans before moving to load up on our bikes and get ready to roll out.

We’re about forty-five minutes into our ride when it hits me like a fucking sledgehammer.

I signal for us to pull off and to notify the others to stop and wait.

“Blitz, are you good, man?” Terro asks as soon as my helmet is off.

“I just need you to hear me out,” I implore them.

“We’re listening, but we have to get a move on.” Raider nods.

“By now they know we are aware that their numbers are practically nothing because of Dragon blowing the club up. Giving credibility to the fact that NOS needs to make nice with his closest rivals,” I start.

“Yes,” Terro agrees, looking at me like I’ve lost my mind.

“That’s just it. In all this, that man has not once given a fuck about making nice. It’s always been about getting Charlie back and getting the information Relic had. Right?” I ask them.

“Right,” Raider nods, and I can see his wheels spinning.

“Then why did he agree to meet with us today knowing that we will not turn over any of those things? He has also lost all contact with Nova inside the club,” I state and see when Raider realizes what I did.

“Goddamn it, turn it around. We’ve got to get back to the fucking clubhouse,” Raider yells. Everyone looks around a little confused.

“It’s a fucking set up. They're not going to be there!” I shout over my bike’s rumble. “They’re headed for the club.”

“Shit,” is all I hear before I spin my bike around, taking off towards the clubhouse.

We’re twenty minutes out when the second group meets back up with us.

We are rolling in fast and hard, not trying to hide the fact that we’re coming.

As we pull up to the gate, I nearly lose my bike at the sight.

The front gate is a mangled mess, having been blown up.

The sound of gunfire is the second thing that catches my attention.

We come through the gate with cover fire being laid.

There are dead Knights all over the place. Each with a single kill shot.

Looking up at the roof of the clubhouse, I spot two sniper rifles perched.

Well, fuck, seems we made the right call on our newest prospects.

Let's just hope they can deal with the rest of the bullshit.

Us coming in on our bikes and the cover fire that was being laid allows for enough distraction that Satchel and Anvil are able to subdue the last two remaining Knights.

As they are being marched in our direction, red dots stay lit up on their chests.

Before anyone can say anything, the man with long, nasty-looking hair and who is far too skinny for his size screams, clutching his shoulder as blood seeps out around the knife lodged there. We all turn to look at Blender, who holds his hands up in a placating manner before pointing at Mercy.

“Mercy? We expect that from Blender,” Raider snarls.

“That’s the man who shot my Ol’ Lady. You're lucky it’s in his shoulder and not in his fucking heart,” Mercy growls through clenched teeth.

We turn our attention back to the Knights in front of us. The sound of two silent pops has us looking around just as two bodies hit the ground, falling from behind the guard shack. Yep, it was a great idea to bring these men on.

“Twitch, I want you to take two of the prospects with you out to the slaughterhouse. Make sure they know they are welcome there,” Raider speaks without breaking eye contact with the cleaner of the two Knights.

“You’ve got it, Prez,” Twitch nods, going into the clubhouse to grab the prospects.

The need to find my Sparrow has me shaking with the effort it takes to stand here.

Twitch comes out of the clubhouse with the Jewel, the red-headed prospect, and Noise, the stockier one.

Without another word, they take the last of the Knights to the shack out back to prepare them for the slaughterhouse.

As soon as they’re out of sight, I’m moving towards the clubhouse in search of Charlie.

I make it through the door, looking around and not seeing her, I call out, “Sparrow! Where the fuck are you?”

The wall next to the church doors shifts and then opens, revealing the panic room that Raider had us install shortly after Relic was killed.

First, out steps Ainsley, who makes a beeline for the monster standing to my right, throwing herself at him.

Rusher comes out with Sunny behind him, followed by the Club Bunnies.

My heart races when I don’t see Charlie.

Raider, tired of waiting on Tasia, walks to the door and calls her name.

She steps out, wrapping her arms around his waist, speaking quietly to him.

He turns to me and tilts his head toward the door.

I practically sprint across the room and through the door.

I see Charlie, sitting on the floor with her head on her knees and arms wrapped around her head. Squatting down, I wait and watch her.

“Sparrow,” I whisper. Her head pops up, and the tears running down her face break me.

She searches my face as if she doesn’t believe what she is seeing. “Blitz?”

“Come here, baby,” I command, holding my hand out to her.

Like a bullet shot from a gun, she launches at me, causing me to fall back on my ass.

“I was so fucking scared. I knew when they showed up it was all a setup,” she sobs into my chest.

“I know, love, but we got them. There is nothing left of the Lucifer's Knights,” I say against the side of her head.

“We’re free? Truly free?” Her question is why none of them are going to be allowed to live.

“There will never be anyone that will bring harm to you, Sparrow. I will always stand between you and everything,” I pull her head from the crook of my neck and kiss her like it's the last time I ever will.

That afternoon we spent cleaning up the mess made during the attack.

While we did that, the women spent the afternoon getting things ready for a cookout to celebrate the small victory we currently hold.

The girls are lit, the bonfire is lit, and all the sides are ready.

We have few drinks and even play some baseball with Rusher.

As the night winds down, I pull my woman from the celebration, taking her to our room.

I spend the next several hours loving her until she passes out.

I kiss her temple before pulling away to get ready for the conversations that we’re about to partake in.

I step out of the clubhouse, mount my bike, and wait for the others.

Mercy, Blender, Raider, Anvil, and Terro all come out.

As soon as we’re all ready to go, we peel out headed for the slaughterhouse.

An evil smirk plays on the corner of my lips—it’s time to play.

We make our way into the slaughterhouse to find NOS and the other asshole strung up and a little battered.

“Did you all have some fun without us?” Anvil chuckles, pulling the two prospects into one-armed back-slapping hugs.

NOS looks up, glaring at everyone. “You might as well fucking kill me now. I’ve got fuck all to say to you.”

We all chuckle, shaking our heads.

“You see, at this rate, we don’t need anything from you. We have all of Relic’s records. Your club is no more and we have what it is you want most,” Raider says, standing in front of him with his arms behind his back.

NOS’s eyes go wide. “You have all of them?”

“His handwritten ones and the ones he kept on the cloud,” Terro replies.

NOS drops his chin to his chest. “Then I truly have nothing to give you.” His head comes up. “Do your fucking worst.”

“NOS, have you lost your fucking mind? We did not do what we did for you to fucking surrender like this,” the other Knight hisses.

“Surrender is your only option,” Mercy snaps, slamming a knife into his thigh.

Raider lays a hand on my shoulder. “Do what you see fit.”

Tilting my head, a cruel smile stretches my lips. “He will suffer.”

Everyone clears the room except Mercy, Blender, me, and Token. The psycho twins get to work on their prize, who starts screaming. Walking over to the table of tools, I pick up the torch, lighting it before going to NOS.

“I’ve been told that doing heroin feels like you’re lighting yourself on fire. Is that true?” I ask the man.

NOS looks at me with narrowed eyes. “You really want to talk about drugs?”

“No, I really don’t.” Reaching out, I tear his shirt off his body.

Revealing something unexpected, as no others have had it. On his chest is a tattoo of the Lucifer Knights' colors.

“Let's see how long it takes to melt this away,” I state as I place the blowtorch to his skin.

It takes hours and so, so many tools before the man dies with a scream on his lips.

Blender and Mercy are still playing with their toy when I leave.

As soon as I get back to the clubhouse, I shower before crawling into bed with my Sparrow.

I pull her tightly to me and sleep soundly for the first time since the night I received her call all those years ago.

Two weeks after the attack on the clubhouse, things are finally getting back to normal. Our construction company is booming; the cleaning service is taking care of the rich and stupid, and our product issues for the Italians seem to have finally settled.

Charlie works the bar like she always has and is happier than ever.

Raider calls for church as Hermes has something to go over that he has found in all the records. Everyone files in talking and happier than we’ve been in a long time. Though our usual joker and funny man is quiet and withdrawn.

Once we’re all seated, Raider calls us to order and turns the floor over to Hermes.

“I’ve got some good news, and some fucked-up news,” he starts. “From what I’ve been able to find, the sex trafficking ring that Shea was masterminding has been destroyed.”

We cheer at finding out that we’ve done what we need to do to ensure that women and children are not being hurt.

“Here is where things take a fucked-up turn. Though Relic worked closely with Shea, and their own trafficking ring was the center point, I have found that he was working with several others as well. The main contact being the Senator that we seem to keep cleaning up after,” Hermes ends on a snarl.

Remedy leans forward with his hands on the table. “That motherfucker is going to fucking die for the things he has done.”

“I will not disagree with you. With the evidence we’ve collected and what Hermes has found in Relic’s records, that is exactly what is going to happen. We have a meeting with the Italians to share some of the information that we’ve found, as they work closer with them.”

“As long as he is ours in the end,” Remedy demands.

I watch him because this isn’t his normal demeanor, and that concerns me. What I’m seeing is exactly what happened when we were all keeping secrets. I make a mental note to talk with Raider and Terro so we can keep an eye on him.

“Now that all the shit is dealt with, I think it’s time for us to have a party and invite our brothers and allies over to celebrate our newest brother and prospects,” Raider calls, smiling.

We all agree, and then he recesses church.

Leaving church, I go to find my Sparrow. I need a bike ride, and I need her on the back with me. I find her coming out of the storage room with a box of liquor. Walking up, I grab her hips from behind.

“Let’s go for a ride,” I whisper.

“I’ve got to do some work.”

“Isn’t that why you have Sunny all the time now?” I grumble.

She laughs, shaking her head. “Fine. Let's go.”

Charlie sets the liquor down, letting Sunny know she's leaving. I pull her out of the clubhouse by the hand, smiling as her laughter fills the air. When we get outside, I pull her into my chest. Her hands come up to wrap around my neck, running her fingers into my hair.

“I love you, my Sparrow,” I whisper looking down at her.

“I love you more with every breath that I take,” she whispers back.

I slam my mouth on hers for a hot kiss before pulling away.

“Let’s ride.”

She puts her helmet on, and I help her buckle it and then help her climb onto her place behind me. She slides close to my back.

“Let's go for the ride of your life,” I call back to her, my heart soaking up the laughter as we make our way out of the new gate.
