“Are you texting the ball and chain again?” Candyce questioned, swinging her arms as she warmed up for our run.
The one I dreaded all morning because I felt like absolute crap all night. The flu hit me out of nowhere, but then I was fine when I woke up. I rolled my eyes. “We’re just…checking in with each other. Nothing more.”
Candyce rolled her eyes. “Listen, I start my at Fortress Sports Agency next month, and it’s in Carol-”
I groaned. “Please don’t say it. I am not moving to that state. Xavier would smother me all over again. And I still have five more things to cross off. Nope. Not going to happen.” I stretched my hands over my head and glared at her. “Are we running or what?”
My best friend wrinkled her nose. “You sure you want to? I thought you said you weren’t feeling ok last night?”
“Are you trying to get out of running?”
She glared at me as I pocketed my phone. “Fine. Let's run. But if you puke, I am not cleaning it up.”
We took off, and I couldn’t help the smile on my face. Because who wouldn’t after hearing from their ‘husband’ even if it was all fake?
