Chapter 7
CHAPTER
SEVEN
SAVIOR
I’d never been so entranced by a fucking soul, but Regancy was different.
Though I moved ahead and made the shit exclusive, it didn’t even feel that way.
Besides the obvious fucking expectations, the shit was easy.
Hell yeah, I still looked at other bitches and admired them.
What nigga didn’t? Shit, to be honest, I hadn’t seen a female as bad as or even close to Regancy.
She told me I only thought that because I was between her legs every night, but I disagreed.
Even when I wasn’t between her legs, I still believed she was bad as fuck.
Then the fact that she was a lil’ nutty bricked me up every time.
I was one of those niggas that stayed away from the females with the crazy eyes, but that shit was different with Regancy.
It was so fucking different that she had me doing shit that I would never.
She had me out there like a bitch holding this ugly ass dog’s leash while she took lil’ mama into the ice cream parlor to get a scoop or two.
I looked down at the little ugly motherfucker and shook my head.
What child took their ass into a pet shop and picked out a French bulldog?
Most lil’ girls wanted those lil’ fluffy high-maintenance ass dogs, but not Kale.
She got that lil’ smush-faced motherfucker and had the nerve to name him Bernard.
I swear she was funny just like her fucking mama.
“You sure you didn’t want any?” Regancy walked out of the parlor with a milkshake while lil’ mama had an ice cream cone that was too damn big for her.
“Nah. I’ma just drink yo’ shit.” I grabbed the cup and passed her the leash.
She giggled. “Did he do anything while we were in there.” She looked down at mush face.
I shrugged my shoulders. “How should I know? I wasn’t all in his business.”
She mugged me momentarily before lil’ mama got her attention.
“Mama, Bernard is using it,” Kale squealed.
I cracked up laughing at the expression that plagued Regancy’s face as Kale held out the bag.
“Nope. That’s your dog.”
“But Mama you call him your other child, and I have ice cream.”
“Fine.” Regancy had the funniest, pissed-off expression as she picked up the dog shit with the little bags and disposed of it. Then it was comical the way she hauled ass back home to wash her hands. First, she was talking about how nice a walk in the park would be, but she was like fuck that walk.
Once we reached her place, Kale immediately dragged her mush-faced ass dog back to her room while Regancy was in the washroom most likely scrubbing her hands raw.
I never thought I’d be the type of nigga to get used to shit like that and actually like it, but then again, there was always that moment in my life where I was reminded of who I was.
The moment my phone rang, I pulled it out and glanced at it. Of course it was Taurus calling, and something in me was praying that it didn’t have shit to do with work. I pressed talk and put the phone to my ear. Before I could even speak, he did.
“I know you’re on your family man shit and all of that, but some shit just went down. Time to pick up a glizzy and blow off some steam over at Che’s.” Once he finished his sentence, he hung up, not even giving me the chance to respond. I needed to get my ass to Che’s.
“Why do you look so tense?” Regancy’s voice interrupted me from my deep thoughts before I stood.
I walked over and pulled her into my space before kissing her forehead. “I gotta run out, but I should be back later. Try to wait up for me.” When I looked down at her, she flashed me an expression that I couldn’t read.
“I’d hope you’re not about to go meet up with some bit—”
“I’ma let Taurus know you called him some bitch too.”
Instead of responding like I thought she would, she nodded. “I’m just saying, Savior.”
“Fuck all of that. Are you gonna wait up?” I questioned, tilting her chin up so she was looking me in my eyes.
“I guess I could try to, huh?” She pursed her lips, sporting a playful expression.
I chuckled. “Fuck trying. You need to succeed. I don’t plan on being out long.” I technically wasn’t lying, because I didn’t really know what the deal was. I kissed her one last time before I went about my business.
It didn’t take me long to get to Che’s, because I had Beck do fifty on the streets and eighty on the expressway.
When I got there, I was expecting to see the same building that was always there, but I saw the complete opposite.
I was welcomed by burned debris that used to be Che’s chicken joint.
Somebody had burned that bitch to the ground.
Beck pulled into the parking lot where I spotted Taurus’s truck.
He was standing leaned against it with a foul expression plaguing his face.
“You got beef with somebody, Savior?”
“Do you?” I questioned as I hopped out of the truck and looked around.
“Shit, if you don’t, then I don’t.” He shrugged his shoulders. “I’m so glad I had that shit moved yesterday. We would’ve been up shit’s creek.”
“You sure Che ain’t burn his own shit down?” I questioned. I never put shit past anybody, so I had to question that too.
“Good fucking question.” He pulled his phone out calling either Luke, Reggie, or Amil.
They were somewhat our most-trusted workers since they’d been with us since we started the shit.
Reggie had just stepped into Zay’s spot while Luke had been manning his territories westbound.
They did a little extra when asked, but Amil grabbed people who needed to be grabbed and filled in if necessary.
If I needed a motherfucker stuffed in a trunk, he was my first call.
Moments after Taurus hung up the phone, he glanced in my direction with a smirk.
“Ya brother-in-law is gonna bring Che to that spot on Laramie. That mechanic shop.” He couldn’t even say that shit with a straight face.
That motherfucker was bipolar and goofy as fuck.
One minute, he was serious, and the next, he had all the jokes.
I shook my head. “What is wrong with you?”
“Not a damn thing. I just wonder how that goes over. You know you’re his boss, and you lay ne—”
“One thing doesn’t matter to the other. What I have with Regancy ain’t got shit to do with her brother.”
He nodded with a big ass smile on his face. “And what do you have with the same female that you claimed you were about to ghost?”
“Man, fuck you. I need to be getting my ass back that way because her crazy ass thought I was bouncing on her for a bitch.” I shook my head. I thought back to the look she gave me when I said I was about to go.
“I knew she had that look!” Taurus damn near yelled. He had that expression like he’d just solved a problem or had an idea.
“What look?” I asked.
“That I’ll bust all yo’ windows and tell you I did that shit look. That nigga Kareem said his bitch knocked his side mirrors off his truck and put them in her trunk. Shorty drove around with those bitches for about a year.”
“Kareem that cops from us?” I asked.
He nodded. “All I’m saying is be careful what you do to the crazy ones. They’ll have yo’ ass out here jumping every time a bitch speaks. That’s that real love, but it’ll drive you fucking nuts.”
I nodded, taking his words in. He was right, but I didn’t really need the advice. Wasn’t no female about to drive me there, and I wasn’t about to do it either.
We waited around for Amil to call and tell us to meet him at the shop, but when he did call, he said Che was nowhere to be found.
The nigga had gotten ghost. He requested that we give him a few days and he’d find his ass, and we agreed.
I was tryna get home anyway. When Beck dropped me off out front, I pulled out my phone and dialed Regancy to see if she was up.
“Yeah?” she answered in a sleep-induced tone.
“I thought you was staying up for me, mama.”
“I was, but I fell asleep when my mama picked up Kale and Bernard. Where are you?”
“On my way up to my place. Come up,” I responded.
“Why can’t you jus—”
“C’mon na, and bring me some of whatever you cooked.” I hung up before she could respond.
I hopped on the elevator and rode it up to my floor. As I was walking to my door, I spotted Mel from afar and shook my head. “The fuck you doing here?”
“I just need to talk to you.”
“How did you get up here?” I asked, looking around while bypassing her to get into my place. Once I had the door open, I walked in.
“So you’re dating her?”
“My personal life ain’t none of ya concern. Matter fact, you shouldn’t even be here, Mel. If I didn—”
“If you didn’t call me, then I shouldn’t show up.
” She finished, latching her hand on her hip.
She looked emotional, maybe even hurt, but that wasn’t my problem.
We had been at that shit for two years, but I felt no type of way for her.
The sex was good, but that was about it.
Shorty and I had no ties. I just wished she got through her fucking skull.
As if time stood still, I watched Regancy walk into the open door and slip right past Mel.
That mug that was ingrained in my skull from last time was there.
“Is something going on here?” There was a certain edge to her voice and the way she still proceeded to put the plate on the island in the center of the kitchen.
Then I heard her slippers as she walked her ass back to the immediate vicinity where I was standing staring at Mel.
For the life of me, I couldn’t understand why that ditzy bitch was still standing here.
REGANCY
It was too soon for that, way too fucking soon for me to be nutting up over a nigga, but there I was, standing in the middle of his kitchen, visualizing myself bopping that nigga and bitch across the head with the umbrella by the door.
“I’ll just catch you lat—”
