Chapter Twenty-Three

I spent my second night with Logan and was pulled from slumber by his lips on my neck.

Both of us had been starved for intimacy and now that we’d tasted it again, we were becoming addicted fast.

We took our time waking each other slowly in the shifting colors from the rising sun that fell across the bed.

I eventually made myself leave his arms. I had to work in my uncle’s room or I would have a legit mess on my hands when the furniture delivery showed up that afternoon.

Logan got a promise of spending the evening with him out of me before I left.

I called out of work, taking the day to focus on the second round of painting the walls and started on the trim. I managed to complete what I needed to before the delivery crew showed up a little before 5 o’clock. After they set up the beautiful, heavy furniture, I hurried to the door and sent Logan a text that I was on my way down to the parking lot .

We went to dinner and a movie in Daytona. When we returned to the building, I sat on his sofa and called the girls before going to his room where he was waiting for me in bed.

Saturday when we woke, I told Logan I had to work on the condo again that day. I dressed and left after kissing him one last time, biting my lip happily at seeing his disappointed face.

Three hours later, I yawned as I closed the door to my uncle’s bedroom which I’d just put the finishing touches on.

I was heading into the kitchen for another cup of coffee when there was a knock on the door. I opened it to find Logan holding a box.

I started to smile before remembering where we were and pointed to the left. “Are Ina and Fred still out there?” I whispered.

“Hello, Madison.” Logan raised his voice a little higher than necessary. “I brought that light you asked me to help you replace. Is now a good time?” He jiggled the box, showing me it was empty as he grinned down proudly at his prop.

“Sure, come on in. Thanks again for the offer to help.” I closed the door as I shook my head with amusement. “I’ll give you points for creativity, but that probably won’t work again.”

Logan twirled the box in his hands. “I’ve formulated a diabolical plan for when I want to see you in your natural habitat.”

“Oh yeah? What’s that, Lex Luthor? ”

He sat the box on the kitchen counter, then walked toward me and rubbed his hands together before holding them up. “These talented babies.”

I gave him a sassy smile. “Yes, they are exceptionally talented, but I don’t need to be distracted by them when I’m trying to work, sir.”

Logan tried to give me a stern look but failed as his eyes sparked. “Focus, woman. You’re forgetting I’m a bona fide handyman. That gets me past certain doors without raising questions. So let me help you. Twice the hands, half the work, more time to enjoy your company.”

I was excited by the offer and wanted to accept it right away, but I knew he had a lot of other commitments. I didn’t want Logan to overextend himself on my account.

“That would be lovely,” I told him, “but only when you have the time. You have a lot on your plate already.”

He put his arms around me. “I’m free all day and at your disposal.” Then Logan grinned like a kid set loose in a candy store. “I saw that look in your eyes. Admit you like the idea of spending more time with me.”

I tried to look serious this time as I glanced away and nodded at the step stool I’d moved to the living room to start painting next.

“I like the idea of you being able to reach the high places so I don’t have to worry about falling off that stupid stool. There are brushes over there with the paint cans, in fact, ready for some talented hands to show them who’s boss. Since that is ME, I get to take a coffee break while you get to work.” I stepped around him and slapped his flawless backside playfully. “Chop, chop.”

He chuckled as I went into the kitchen.

I took a sip from my mugandthen caught his eye across the room. “Let me know when your talented hands are ready for a break,” I told him with a playful wink.

Logan paused, then he set a paintbrush back down on the stool and started sauntering toward me, giving me a look that made my knees weak.

My heart rate sped up and I grew clumsy with my cup, setting it down awkwardly, spilling coffee as he came around the counter.

He picked me up and sat me on the edge, stepping between my thighs as his hands molded to my curves and he ran his lips along my jawline, making me shiver.

“Now is perfect, Crash,” he murmured before claiming my mouth with his.

Logan and I spent the whole weekend together, painting as we got to know each other more.

Sunday, we worked in the condo the first half of the day, then we went and played mini golf and laughed every time I hit my ball off course. He completely kicked my butt.

That evening, I made him dinner at his place. I’d learned cheesecake was his favorite dessert so I made my secret homemade recipe and beamed when he went back for another slice.

I was falling asleep on his chest later that night when he whispered against my hair, “No judgment if you wake up and catch me eating cheesecake in the morning.”

I laughed and ran my hand over his tight stomach. “I think you can afford to indulge. You should finish the rest anyway; that stuff goes straight to my hips.”

“For the record, I was a lot softer back when I was a lawyer,” Logan told me. “Solitude makes it easy to become a gym rat.” He moved his hand down and squeezed my left hip. “You want to eat cake together every day, that’s fine by me.”

“Yeah, yeah… you say that now.” My tone was lighthearted but that wasn’t how I felt as I started chewing my lip self-consciously.

Logan ran his hand up to my back again. “Last summer, you had a dress covered in different colored flowers. Remember it?”

I knew exactly what dress he was talking about. I’d been so sad when I pulled it out this year and realized I wouldn’t be able to wear it anymore, it was too big on me now.

“Yes, I love that sundress.” Not sure where he was going, I added, “I probably wore it too much.”

Logan ran his fingers through my hair. “You weren’t the only fan. It was hard to keep my eyes off you when I saw you wearing it. The easiest time to not get caught staring was when you were walking away from me. Trust me, your hips were sublime in that dress. ”

I opened my mouth, ready to make a negative joke about myself but stopped, remembering I’d agreed to work on taking his words at face value. Logan had no reason to pretend he’d liked me in that dress. The fact that he’d noticed it enough to remember it and bring it up completely supported him being genuine.

I rubbed my cheek against his chest happily. “You sure know how to make a girl feel good. In several ways…”

Logan danced his fingers up my naked back and I let out a breathy sigh of pleasure.

“You keep making sounds like that and I’ll want you for breakfast instead of cake.”

“Wake me up if you decide to have a midnight snack instead…”

“Mmmm, who would have thought it? Madison Cage is a little temptress. Pleasing my senses not only with her sweet body, but edible, sugary treats as well.”

I nuzzled my nose into his skin. “I think you’ve done a rather thorough job of establishing that I myself, am edible.”

Logan’s hand stilled on my back, then he rolled me on my side and brought his mouth to mine. We’d already been intimate, so I was surprised when he started touching me with clear intentions as his lips moved to my neck.

“Really?” I gasped as my skin came to life. “Aren’t you tired?”

His hands kept moving, heading beneath the sheets. “It’s close enough to midnight and you offered yourself up on a silver platter with that last quip.” Logan ran his mouth along my shoulder, then started grazing lower. “Wouldn’t you like to enjoy seconds with me?”

I threaded my fingers through his hair, more than happy to take him up on the offer.
