Chapter 12

Trek

New Year's Day

It was New Year's Day, and my girl and I were put up.

I'd made major out-of-town plans for us, but Travel had been so under the weather that we couldn't go anywhere.

She had a cold, and she was nauseous, vomiting occasionally.

I had to cancel all our plans, but that was cool with me because I had something else up my sleeve.

The boys were with my parents for a few days because they requested them, which was perfect because I needed to take care of my girl.

We rested in the center of my mosh pit couch.

It took four oversized couches, which made a huge square of couches in the center of the living room.

It was perfect to have, especially with our growing family.

I looked on as Travel blew her nose, then added some hand sanitizer to her hands. She wore her burrito-themed pajamas that my mom got her for Christmas, and it was the funniest shit ever to me.

When Travel turned to face me, I noticed how red and ashy her nose looked, so I leaned over, grabbed the skin protectant, and gently wiped some on and around her nose. Her skin would look and feel better soon. I wiped my finger off with a clean single tissue.

"Thank you, baby," Travel cooed, snuggling closer to me.

"You're welcome." I pulled her blanket up to her waist, then sat back and watched her.

She smirked. "Why are you staring at me? I hope you're not mad at me because we had to cancel our New Year plans."

"Not at all. You come before everything," I answered.

"Alright then, what's on your mind? I can tell when something is on your mind."

I chuckled and looked at our Christmas tree. The lights were out, but the tree and TV lit up the living room. I looked back at Travel.

Now was as perfect a time as any. "A lot has changed for us and fast in these short months. How do you envision your life in these next six months to a year?"

Travel cleared her throat. "First, I pray we're all still together. I look forward to graduating and beginning my career as a school guidance counselor. What about you?" she questioned.

"I plan to help you navigate parenthood, adulthood, and your new career field. We're teammates and partners forever."

Travel smiled and sniffled. "That sounds wonderful. Anything else you want to share, love?"

I exhaled. "Yeah, there is." I dug in my pocket and produced an emerald-green ring box.

Travel released a shriek and covered her mouth.

"I put a lot of thought into proposing to you, but your health will always come first. So, any space where you're at will still make a beautiful proposal." I gently caressed her messy baby hairs back.

"Even when you're sick with messy hair and wrapped like a burrito in your burrito-themed pajamas, you are still the most beautiful woman in the world to me, Travel.

In your space and arms is where I feel the freest and safest. I've fallen so hard for you that I'll never recover if you ever leave me.

You've been the love of my life since I was a boy.

Now that I'm a man, that love has amplified.

Will you make me the happiest man on earth, Ms. Grays, and become Mrs. Mounts? "

She sniffled and wiped her eyes. I helped her sit up because her cold was really kicking her ass. Travel folded her legs under her, but the grin on her face was still in place.

"The fact that you want to spend the rest of your life with me lets me know this ain't a dream. I'm really sharing my life with my dream guy and forever at that. I love you, Trek Mounts. I happily accept my new title as Mrs. Mounts."

"That's my girl. Thank you, baby." I removed the custom-made princess-cut diamond from the box and slipped it onto her finger.

Travel laughed and sobbed. "I'm about to be a wife!" she squealed.

"Yes, you are. Come here, girl."

She leaped into my arms, and I held her tightly before our lips crashed into each other. I knew my baby was sick, but I needed to feel my soon-to-be wife's lips. Travel's tongue intertwined with mine, both of us taking from each other what we desperately wanted.

I needed more of her, though. I swiftly hefted Travel onto my lap. Our connection was never severed as I hurriedly unbuttoned her burrito pajama top.

When I reached the last button, Travel shimmied out of her shirt. Her titties were free for the taking. My mouth instantly broke free and latched onto my two favorite ripe pieces of fruit. Travel was a C cup and in the words of Goldilocks, she was "just right".

My tongue swept over her erect nipples. Travel flinched from the pressure I added. I stopped and looked at her. She urged me to keep going. I went back at it, and her body tensed again. Something wasn't right. I looked at her, and just like the first time, she urged me to keep going.

Without questioning her, I tugged and sucked on her nipples like she had breast milk to feed me. My eyes shot open at the thought of breast milk. I released her titty and looked at Travel.

She wore a confused expression. "What's wrong, babe? Do I smell? I took a good shower."

"No. You smell great as usual. Something came to mind, and I have a serious question to ask you."

"Now? Can it wait? I'm ready to bust it wide for you, baby," she expressed in a pouty tone.

"I'm sorry, boo, this can't wait. Travel, you've been sick since a couple of days after Christmas.

You're so sensitive to me sucking your nipples, you're nauseous, and lightheaded.

When was the last time you had your cycle?

You haven't sent me to the store to get any pads or your favorite cycle snacks. "

I held Travel around her waist as the confusion written over her face made a permanent residence. She seemed to be calculating something in her head as she nibbled on the flesh of her inner cheek. Minutes went by, and her eyes widened.

From that action alone, I knew my suspicions were confirmed. "Travel, is there a possibility you're carrying my baby? We ain't used protection since we became intimate."

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she nodded slowly. A feeling of elation soared through me like a nigga at Magic City on a Friday night. The love of my life carried my baby. However, before I rejoiced, I needed to know how she felt about that.

"Baby, why are you crying?" I queried in a soft voice.

"I'm scared. I don't want you to feel like I trapped you."

I gently wiped her tears away. "Trap me, baby."

Travel's light sobs stopped, and her brows furrowed together. "What do you mean?"

"I know for a fact that those were never your intentions because had they been, we would've been together a long time ago. I wanna be trapped by you and you alone, my love. That ring on your finger is proof. The result is my baby that you're carrying. So, I say it again, trap me, baby."

She giggled and peppered my face with kisses. "I got you trapped forever, my love."

I grinned and held her semi-naked frame closely to my body. "We're in this for life. My baby is having my baby, and I won't let shit ruin that."

Travel kissed my neck, making me hard again. I placed her softly on her back and went back to savoring those titties. She took my deep strokes while all I could do was think about how Travel was all mine, all mine.

"Do you guys hear that sound? That's the strong heartbeat of your baby. Mama, you're just shy of eight weeks and doing great so far. Do you all have any questions for me?" Dr. Collins quizzed?

She was a tall, middle-aged, black woman who knew her shit. From her extensive knowledge and the gentle way she handled Travel, I knew we were in expert hands. Dr. Collins turned off the machine and gently helped Travel sit up on the bed.

"Thank you, Dr. Collins. You've covered just about everything, so we're good for now," Travel replied.

"Alright. Nurse Bays will be at the front desk with your forms, which include my number and your prenatal vitamins prescription. It was lovely to meet you both, and I look forward to our new journey together," Dr. Collins professed.

"Sounds good. Thank you again, Dr. Collins. Enjoy the rest of your day," I expressed, and helped Travel from the bed.

"You guys as well."

She left the room, and I turned to Travel. We stood in the middle of the room and held each other. I loved being here with her. I couldn't thank God enough.

"As happy as I am right now, I need to know if you want to go through with this pregnancy or not?"

Travel peered up from my chest with a look of confusion written on her face. "Why would you ask me a thing like that? Do you not want our baby?"

"Of course I do, beautiful, but I'm also not some caveman. As much as I want our baby, your body is yours, and I want you to have the freedom to say if you want to or don't want to go through another pregnancy."

Travel smiled and pecked my lips. "You have always been so thoughtful, and it's one of your many character traits that I love.

But, in this case, I want our baby. I want everything that comes with you, and that's the good and bad.

I know how to speak up if I don't want to participate in something.

Furthermore, I appreciate you always having my best interest at heart. "

I smirked and pecked her lips. "Thank you for being the best partner in the world. I heard you loud and clear. Are you ready to get out of here and grab some lunch?"

"Hell, yes. This baby got me famished."

"Come on, big girl."

Travel laughed at me as we exited the room. We received her forms. After a short walk to my truck, we headed to her favorite restaurant.

The drive was going cool until I noticed a mini-SUV following us. I switched lanes to be sure. Minutes passed, and once another sedan jumped behind me, the mini SUV followed suit.

We were being followed. The last time that happened, I did a job. Now, I was worried that work followed me home, which was always my biggest fear.
