Chapter 12 #2

I checked my rear-view mirror and that mini-SUV sped up. As close as they were, I couldn't see the driver because the truck was completely tinted. It was evident that my soon-to-be wife had to witness me in full action.

"Travel, baby. I don't want you to be alarmed, but somebody is following us."

"Wait, really? What should I do? I'm scared."

"Just sit back and relax as much as you can. Things are about to get a little rou—"

My sentence was cut off when that mini-SUV rammed into the back of my truck.

"Shit!" Travel screamed and put her head down in her lap.

"Hold on, love." I jumped over to the next lane and pulled out my piece. I'd barely had my window down when gunfire took place behind us.

"Ahh!" Travel screamed.

My heart pounded as bullets penetrated my truck. It wasn't bulletproof like my car, which I used to transport goods, but after today, it would be.

I lowered my window and shot back while steering my truck. Their truck wasn't bulletproof either. They swerved but quickly gained control.

Shit. I stomped on the gas, moving through the lanes. It pained my heart that my baby was so scared, even in this damn situation. I had to end this shit quickly because I didn't want her to miscarry from the stress and fear.

I jumped into a new lane, with them niggas gaining on me. There was not enough space to bust a U-turn, so I slowed down so they could catch up with me.

Travel panicked. "Why are you slowing down? Don't slow down!" she panicked in a fearful tone.

"It's alright, beautiful. I got a plan."

She nodded and gripped her seatbelt for dear life. The moment their fender reached my door, I busted at their dumb asses. My bullets pierced their tires and riddled the passenger door. The truck swerved, flipped over, and went down a nearby ditch.

I threw my truck in the same direction and parked. "Stay here," I commanded Travel.

I rapidly raced down the hill to the upside-down truck. A tire rotated slowly while smoke sailed from the hood of the car. With the windows busted out, I had a close-up view of what the shooters looked like.

Two passengers were dead, but the driver was still alive. I'd never seen those niggas in my life. I reached through the window and aimed my gun at the nigga's head.

"Who sent you?" I quizzed.

He spat blood from his mouth. His eyes were filled with so much fear.

"The neighborhood crackheads saw you sneak inside Gia's house and assumed you murdered Mook.

After we watched you come and go from yo' crib, you were the best candidate, seeing as you're with his baby mama now.

We tried to avenge our homie," he responded, groaning in pain.

I nodded my understanding. "Tried is the right word." I shot him in the head and shot his friends a few more times just to make sure no one would miraculously come back to life.

They were brave to try to avenge they dead homie, but all is fair in war. I trekked back to my truck and swiftly sped away.

"I'm sorry for all this bullshit. How are you feeling?"

"I'm better now that our lives aren't on the line. What happened back there, Trek? Be honest with me."

I exhaled and kept my eyes on the road. "Those were Mook's friends. They wanted to avenge him."

Travel was silent for the remainder of the drive. I could practically feel the wheels turning in her head. It was only a matter of time before she asked me about that call on Christmas Day that he was missing.

I drove a little longer until we finally made it home, where the boys were. Travel allowed me to guide her to our room, undress her, and tuck her into our bed. "You rest. I'll go and order our food."

"Wait, Trek." She reached out and grabbed my wrist.

"Yes, my love."

She stared into my eyes. "Did you ki-kill him?" Travel stuttered. Her eyes went back and forth between mine.

Travel had asked, so I had to be honest with her.

"Yeah, I did. If I hurt you, I'm sorry, baby. That was never my intention. I just wanted you to be safe and to feel safe. If that makes me a bad guy, then so be it, but I'll never stop protecting my family," I responded, gazing back into her eyes.

"Thank you for your honesty. It's a slight shock to hear the truth out loud, but I appreciate you and will forever support the healthy ways you choose to love, protect, and show up for our family. I love you always, Trek. Don't ever doubt that."

"Your words always make me whole. I'm grateful I have you in my life, and you understand me.

The real me. I'm a hitta, I work in an illegal industry, but I'm also a great friend, father, and soon-to-be husband.

I love you fully and unconditionally. We have a wedding and baby loading in 2026, and we're off to a great start. "

"Yes, the hell we are. I'm riding with my best friend for life," she voiced.

"For life. Cheese bites."

"And apple slices," she affirmed.

I pulled off my clothes and joined Travel under the covers. My mouth went right to her ripe titties, before I found myself between her thick thighs, savoring her juicy fruit.
