Chapter 26
Chapter Twenty-Six
Drea
“Okay, what is going on?” Cara looked back and forth between me and Blair with a concerned expression on her face.
We were sitting at Brewed Awakening, having our weekly book signing meeting. Since it was getting closer, we met more often.
This morning, I’d left Blair’s before Cara was supposed to pick her up, but not without a struggle. I was not ready to say goodbye, and I had to show her exactly what she was going to be missing.
“What are you talking about?” I asked Cara.
We were trying not to give anything away, but I guess we weren’t trying very hard, because she was looking back and forth between the two of us, trying desperately to pick up on something she shouldn’t have been, and it was making me force myself not to fidget.
It was a struggle to sit there with Blair and not think about what we had been doing hours before this meeting with Cara.
I wanted to slide my foot up and down her bare leg.
I was starting to regret our decision not to sit next to each other, but there would’ve been no way I could’ve kept my hands to myself if she was centimeters away from me.
She gestured between the two of us. “I mean this. You two, right here. You’re being nice to each other and no one is yelling. What is happening?”
I laughed. “You wanted us to be professional and get along, so that’s what we’re doing.”
“Well, stop it. I don’t like it. It’s freaking me out.”
Blair laughed, and my chest warmed at the sound. I would never tire of hearing any sound she made. “Relax, Cara. We’re putting our personal differences aside to get this project done, just like you asked us to.”
She looked skeptically between us before sighing in defeat.
If she saw through our lie, she didn’t show it.
“I’m glad you two can finally get along.
Honestly, I never thought it would happen.
It’s just weird. Anyway, I’d love to stay and chat but I have another client meeting to get to.
I’ll call you guys later?" She stood up and hugged us both goodbye. “Blair, do you need a ride home? It’s on my way.”
Blair snuck a quick glance at me, to which I smiled, and she shook her head. “No, babe, I’m good. I’ll get a car.”
“Nonsense. Since you guys are such good friends now, Drea, why don’t you take her home?”
I snapped my head up. “What? Cara, I don’t think that’s a good idea. We aren’t exactly friends.” I looked at Blair, who gave me a look that told me I would pay for that comment later.
“Yeah. I’ll get a car. It’s not a big deal,” Blair replied.
“Oh, come on, it’ll be good for you two to spend more time together, and at least I’ll know you made it home safely.” Little did she know, it had been very good spending more time with Blair.
Blair sighed like it pained her to agree. “Fine, Drea can take me. Happy?”
“Not really, but I’ll do it anyway,” I replied sarcastically.
“Ahh, there’s the two women I know and love. Okay, bye, ladies.”
Blair turned to me and scowled when Cara was out of earshot. “Don’t sound too heartbroken about taking me home. I can find another way, you know.”
I stood up and walked around the table to where she sat.
She followed me the whole way but looked straight ahead when I bent down and lowered my mouth to her ear and whispered, “Baby, I’m taking you home so I can slowly take that dress off and worship every part of your delicious body.
” She shivered when I nibbled her ear a little.
She cleared her throat and stood up. “Yes. Let’s go… now.”
Blair had barely closed the door to her house before I was on her, keeping to my word and taking her dress off one strap at a time. She moaned when I kissed her neck while my hands worked at her bra. Her tits were like magnets and my hands found them every time.
“God, you’re so beautiful,” I whispered as I kissed her against the door.
I groaned in protest when she broke the kiss.
“As much as I am enjoying this,” she said in short breaths, “I think maybe we should slow down, just a little, you know. I mean, we have the whole night ahead of us. Why don’t we go for a swim, maybe cool down for a bit and talk?
” She seemed to have lost her confidence and quietly added, “Unless this is just sex for you?”
I froze, one hand on her hip, one hand on her neck. I wasn’t prepared for that conversation, especially right before I had other plans for my mouth.
I took a small step back. “Is that what you want? Just sex?” I asked. I didn’t know what to say.
“That’s never been my thing, but if that’s what you want this to be, just sex, then we can talk about it. I just want to know what we’re doing.”
“I can tell you what we were about to do.” I grinned, but she rolled her eyes.
“I’m serious. We need to be on the same page, or this can’t happen anymore.”
Damn she was good. She knew threatening to take sex away would sober me up.
I didn’t like the serious turn the night had taken, but she was right, and I would be damned if this didn’t happen anymore.
“Okay, honesty time. I don’t know what is happening between us.
Clearly there is a physical connection here that I can’t deny.
We went from hating each other to this rather quickly, and it’s all been a lot.
Don’t get me wrong, it's been good… so damn good, but it's also been a lot to process. I’m not good at putting a label on things and commitment and I are estranged acquaintances.”
She looked as if I had just run over a dog, so I quickly added, “But I can’t sit here and pretend I don’t feel something strong for you, Blair.
What that is, I don’t know, but what I do know is I enjoy every second with you, no matter what we are doing.
If you want this to be just sex, I’m okay with that.
If you want to have sex and cuddle afterward, that’s cool, too.
I’ll take any part of you that you’re willing to give me.
I can’t promise any sort of commitment right now, but I can promise to be honest with you and to try. ”
She smiled and brought our bodies closer together. “That’s all I ask, Drea. I’m not asking for a ring or for you to change your lifestyle for me. I just want to know if I matter in some way to you.”
But I wanted to change. For her, I wanted to try, and the thought scared me more than I cared to admit.
I felt so strongly for her, and it scared me how comfortable I was.
If she didn’t like something, I’d fix it.
“Darling, you matter more to me than I can understand.” I smiled and kissed her softly.
“So, how about that swim? I’ve got this bikini I’ve been dying to try out.” She smirked.
“Or… I can finish undressing you, and we can forget the bathing suit altogether.”
“Mmm, I think I like that idea even better.”
Ten minutes later we were naked and making out in her pool. I should’ve won a damn medal for the patience I showed. Her naked body straddling my naked body while we were floating in the heated pool and I didn’t fuck her? Damn heroine over here!
She groaned in protest when I broke the kiss. “Why did you stop? I was enjoying myself.”
“I know, sweetheart. I can feel just how much you were enjoying it.”
Eventually I gave in and started massaging her clit under the water. It wasn’t enough pressure for her to have an orgasm or anything, just a little teasing. But I forced myself to stop for only a moment. “Because we need to talk about us.”
“I thought we already did?” She tried to navigate my hand to its original spot, but I grabbed it and intertwined our fingers together, kissing each of her knuckles. I was obsessed with touching any part of her I could.
We had been making out in her pool for a good twenty minutes by that point and had only just come up for air. She was still straddling me, and I didn’t know how much longer I was going to last out there, so I wanted to get this conversation over with while my mouth wasn’t otherwise in use.
“We need to talk about Cara.”
She frowned and got off me. “If you don’t want to have sex, just say so, Drea.”
I pulled her back to me and rolled my eyes, gripping her hips and sitting her on me once more. She wrapped her legs back around me and I was rewarded with a sweet wet kiss.
“First of all, I will never not want to have sex with you, Blair Sterling. But I’m serious, what are we going to tell her? That we’re dating? That we are just sleeping together? That I take you from beh—”
She shut me up with a splash of water to my face. “Definitely not telling her that last part, thank you. I don’t know how she’s going to take it. We’ve been pretending for so long that we hate each other. I don’t know how it’ll go, going from one extreme to the next.”
I shrugged. “I don’t think we’ve been pretending to hate each other.
We did hate each other at one point, but we haven’t exactly been honest with her either.
Mixing business with pleasure might cause some issues with her.
As you know, her career is very important to her and she is very big on professionalism. ”
She snorted. “That’s an understatement. And yes, I agree. So maybe we just don’t tell her, at least until after the signing when we technically aren’t working together anymore.”
The idea of hiding her from anyone made me sick to my stomach, but she had a point. It would just make things messy if we said anything right now.
“You’re right. So maybe it’s best if we don’t tell anyone? Mackenzie and Fallon are friendly with her. Kaia already knows from the last time you were in my office, but I will have another conversation with her to make it very clear it stays between us.”
She started kissing me, and when her hand traveled down to my wet clit, my legs wanted to give out. “So, I’m like your dirty little secret? Kinky.”
I laughed at her use of the word kinky and shamelessly pushed myself into her touch. “As long as you’re mine, you can be whatever you want to be.”
I carried her out of the pool and walked toward her house, closing the door behind us.
I didn’t want the neighbors to see what I was going to do to her next.
