Chapter 17

Izzy

As soon as the professor dismisses us, I’m rushing to the door, desperate to return to my apartment and get back in bed. I think I smiled like the Joker throughout my entire test. Thankfully, it was multiple choice, or I may have rambled on in short answer form on how incredible Rogue’s mouth is.

Unfortunately, that smile is wiped right from my face the moment I get to my car.

I thought he was done harassing me. I am so not in the mood for this right now.

“Move, Alex.”

“Not until you talk to me, Izabelle.”

I should’ve had Rogue come with me. One look at that big hulking man and Alex would run away like a scared wuss.

“I don’t know how many times we have to go through this.

There’s nothing to talk about. I’m serious.

I’m done. I’ve moved on and I’m happy.” Like really happy.

So happy I’m afraid to jinx it. It’s only been a few days, which sounds crazy, but I just have this feeling about Rogue.

He’s honestly the first man I’ve ever had this gut instinct about.

I never even felt this way for Alex, and I thought I was going to marry that man.

Thankfully, he saved me from making the biggest mistake of my life.

I’m actually grateful he deceived me, because it led me to the man I can really see myself with.

“No. You’re upset, and you’re doing this to get back at me.

But he’s just a rebound. What we have is real.

Here.” He shoves a sealed manilla envelope towards me.

“I had my attorney draft up my divorce papers, and I wanted to show you so you could see that I’m telling you the truth.

As soon as she gets back from her trip, I’m going to have her served.

And then I’m going to devote my entire life to making it up to you.

I love you so much, Izabelle. The one thing I never lied to you about is how much you mean to me.

I never knew what love felt like until I met you. I mean that, my special girl.”

I’m trying not to roll my eyes.

The man I’m meant to be with would never betray me the way he did.

He wouldn’t lie to me for an entire year about being married.

The man I’m meant to be with will be considerate and have a good heart.

He’ll put others first. He’ll be honest and loyal, and I’m seriously hoping he’ll be a tall, sexy Hulk who has the most amazing mouth and the cutest smile.

I already have some serious feelings for Rogue.

He’s not just a rebound. He’s growing to be something I hope for.

“I’m sorry, Alex, but I don’t feel the same about you.

It’s not just the fact that you’re married, but I’ve realized there was so much missing from our relationship.

” The main thing being honesty. “And the guy I’m seeing now isn’t just a rebound.

He’s really special. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I want to get home to him. He’s waiting in my bed for me.”

I shove past him to get to my car door, and finally get it open.

“I’m not going to give up on us, Izabelle. I’ve never been more certain of anything in my life. You’re my soul mate. You’ll see that soon enough.”

I climb into my car and slam the door. Alex may truly have a couple screws loose. I need to talk to Rogue because it may be time to get a restraining order. I’m done with his harassment.
