Chapter 9

I held Kenzi's hand as we walked inside Santana's. I was trying to show some restraint when she walked out of that bathroom with this fucking dress on, but I couldn't. Kenzi oozed a natural sex appeal that put the dancing chick Josie to shame. From her natural hair to her natural walk, all of it appealed to me. Her pussy was top-tier, and what really took me over the ledge was when she sucked my dick down her throat. There was no way I wouldn't blow a bag on her or stake my claim.

I wasn't worried about her not being receptive to me claiming her because I was confident there was no other nigga in the shadows. Her phone was dry as shit unless she was talking to Ghana or whom she called her fairy godmother, Ms. Betty. She and Wes had become good friends, too, and of course, Jax's bitch ass had already made her family. Sage and Sadè adored her, so there was no way she was going anywhere. My family loved hard because of my father. He was the meaning of the word if I had to describe it.

"Hey, pooh! Look at you. Shutting shit down!" Weslei said, coming from the back and walking over to us. Kenzi laughed and hugged her.

"Hey, Lei Lei."

"Oh, and you blinged her out? Brother, I am scared of you."

"Stop it." Kenzi blushed.

"Babe, look at this. Your brother has gone stupid for my girl," Weslei noted, waving Jax over when he emerged from the back.

"He's been stupid for her since the first time he laid eyes on her."

"Are y'all gon' show us to our seats, or should we go somewhere else?"

"Calm down, mean ass. Zizi, you look beautiful," Jax complimented, kissing her cheek.

"Thank you, Jaxsie!"

"This pet name shit is killing me," I voiced, shaking my damn head.

"Come on, let me show y'all to y'all table."

We followed Jaxson to a corner booth in the back of the restaurant, with Kenzi sliding in first, and I slid in behind her. I looked around the restaurant and smiled. My brother used the money my father left him and did what he always wanted to do. There were photos of our father and us with him when we were kids placed strategically around the building. The ambiance and food were why this place stayed crowded, and you had to make reservations just to get a table. It was the same with Honor Thy Food . The nigga's hands were blessed, but he couldn't do it all, so he hired the best chefs to help him execute the recipes and menu to a T.

"I love coming here. It's so beautiful."

"Yeah, bro did his big one for sure."

One of the servers walked over, placing a bottle of wine in an ice bucket on our table. He then set two small tablets on the table as well.

"Greetings. I'm Justin, and I'll be your server for tonight. A bottle of Pinot Noir for your palates, and whenever you all are ready to order?—"

"We got it from here, Jus."

"Duh, silly me. I'll be back when your food is ready. Enjoy." He bowed and walked away.

"Don't be doing Justin like that. I like him."

"You tend to like every damn body."

"Shut up," Kenzi responded, laughing. "Let me order for us... I think I know what you like."

"What I like ain't on the menu," I told her, sliding my arm behind her and grabbing a handful of her soft ass.

"Stop." She giggled. "Mannish ass."

"Let's make a bet. If you get my favorite dish from here right, I'll do whatever you want me to do. If you get it wrong, then you'll have to accept anything I do to and for you."

"Hmm... all right. I'll accept your challenge."

"Bet."

Kenzi ordered our food as I poured us a glass of wine. I didn't drink wine, but it came as a complimentary bottle since the damn plates were going for almost a hundred dollars a pop.

"So, tell me about your father," she requested, putting the tablet down and picking up her wine glass.

"He was the epitome of his name. He was truly an honor to be around. He taught Jax and me a lot and showed us a love that was unmatched. He's the reason we love bikes so much. When he died, he left us a trust along with my bike shop, and this building for Jax to do whatever he wanted with it. And you see what that is."

"That's beautiful. My dad died when I was ten. He was a good father for those ten years I'd known him. He always gave me whatever I wanted. I was very much spoiled by him." She laughed. "When he died, my mother got back with Ghana's dad, and a year later, they just took off. With no contact or warning, they just left us. For a while, Ghana was out of control, and I had no idea how to help him. He was never mean to me, but he would destroy the house each time he thought about what my mother had done. Her actions were fucked up, but Ms. Betty and Mr. Trent were able to step in and help us when they could."

"And y'all haven't seen her since?"

"Nope, and don't want to see her ass either."

"Same with my unstable creature of a mother. She was an evil bitch and treated me like scum. Jax was and still is her favorite. Her hate for me got so bad that I almost killed her."

Kenzi gasped. "Oh my God. She was that bad?"

"The worst."

"I'm sorry to hear that. At least your father made up for the lack of love she showed you. We literally had nobody once my dad died, and I had to stay on top of Ghana to take his meds. It was bad for us because after I graduated high school, I was supposed to go to UCLA, but I couldn't because I feared what leaving him would do. I messed around during my twenties, but I knew what I wanted to do and wanted to be, so after I felt like Ghana was on his shit, I went back to college. I want to help people that are like him, you know?"

"I feel you. Grue's a good nigga. He just had a rough start in life."

"I'll never understand these nicknames you all have. Why do you call him Grue?"

"Look at the pot calling the kettle black." She laughed and mushed me. "We call him Gruesome because of the way he handles these niggas in the streets. It's gruesome."

"I don't even know why I asked," Kenzi said, rolling her eyes. "I also don't know why those women are staring so hard at us."

I followed her line of sight and instantly felt my blood boil. There, directly across from us on the other side of the room, was none other than April and my bitch of a mother. This had to be some kind of sick joke. How the fuck they knew each other was beyond me, and I was going to kick Jax's ass for allowing her to dine here while I was in the same building.

"I apologize in advance for ruining our date."

"Wha— Mekai!"

I ignored Kenzi calling my name as I hurriedly made my way across the room. April's eyes ballooned when she saw me approaching as my fuck ass mama looked as if she was excited to see me.

"Get the fuck up right now, and get out of this restaurant before I slice both you bitches' throats."

"Well, hello to you too, Son." Shayna's sarcastic reply made me want to ring her neck.

"I'm not your fucking son!" I bit out as spit flew from my mouth. "How the fuck do you know her?" I asked, turning to April.

"I-I-I..."

"Do you suddenly got a fucking stuttering problem?"

"She's my nurse, Mekai," Shayna answered.

"Was I talking to your rat ass?"

"Yo, yo, Kai. Chill, man!" Jax interjected, stepping in between us. I pushed him away from me as he walked back up on me. "My nigga, you're not about to ruin my fucking business with this bullshit."

"Why the fuck would you let her in here knowing that I was here?"

"I didn't know that she was here."

"How the fuck you didn't know when you have to make a reservation to get in this bitch?"

"It was me," Wes admitted, walking up. "I took the reservations this week. I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking."

"Obviously, you fucking wasn't."

"Aye, nigga, cool out on my fucking wife before it be a problem in this bitch. Go cool off, nigga."

"I'll leave, Jaxson," the evil witch said, attempting to stand as April went to her side for assistance.

"You don't have to leave, Ma."

"Fuck you mean she don't have to leave?" I exploded, looking at him appalled.

"Mekai, baby, let's just go. We can just order takeout," I heard Kenzi say, but I was seeing too much red. I wanted to take my gun and shoot both of these bitches for trying to play in my face.

Soft hands touching my cheeks cleared my vision enough to see the frightened look in Kenzi's eyes.

"It's going to be okay. Let's just go... please?" I took a deep breath, released it, and took Kenzi's hand. I looked over at my brother.

"Pick a side, nigga. As long as you fuck with her, you won't see me." I walked away.

"That's bull— Kai!" he yelled, but I kept walking until we reached my truck.

I opened the door for Kenzi and helped her inside, then went around to the driver's side, climbing in. I sat there for a moment, trying to stop the burning desire to send my mother's crippled ass to glory. I pounded my fist on the steering wheel. It was the only thing I could do to release the built-up rage I felt inside. My chest rose and fell, and before I knew it, unexpected tears were falling from my eyes.

Kenzi climbed over the seat and straddled my lap, placing her palms on my cheeks and clearing my tears with her thumbs.

"I fucking hate her. I loved her so much, and all she ever did was treat me like shit. She never showed me an ounce of love, and I had to live with that shit for years."

"I'm so sorry you had to experience that. We can't choose our parents, but we can choose how we handle our emotions. I don't know why she was so mean to you, but you have to heal from this. It's not healthy. It's ruining your relationship with your brother... don't let it. Cry it out, and breathe for me," Kenzi advised.

I wrapped my arms around her waist and put my head on her chest, allowing years of unaddressed feelings to pour from my eyes. My grandmother used to tell me to get it out of my system all the time, but I used to tell her nothing was wrong with me... that I didn't care about my mom's ass anymore. It was the furthest thing from the truth. Even after almost killing her, I still had love in my heart for her somewhere. It didn't stop me from wanting to rid the world of her presence, though.

I felt stupid for sitting here crying on Kenzi's chest. I knew she had to think I was some soft-ass nigga, but that was far from the case. I was born alpha. However, that woman was the only person who could make me vulnerable and weak.

Kenzi's soothing hands rubbing the back of my head calmed me. I lifted my head, seeing that beautiful smile grace her lips. I swear this girl was so fucking beautiful. These past couple of months had me doing things I would never have done otherwise. Kenzi's vibe was everything, and the more I was around her, the more I was falling for her.

I pinched her chin and smiled back, pulling her face to mine and trying to swallow her tongue. I slipped her dress from her shoulders and attacked her nipples, lifting her dress in the process. Her breaths became heavy while her hands were busy undoing my slacks.

"Help me," she said, trying to let my seat back.

Reclining the seat, I lifted her hips and guided myself inside of her. We both let out a satisfied moan. Her hips rotated, making my head fall back into the headrest. If this girl only knew how I would fuck up the world behind her. Again, it wasn't about the sex. I was obsessed with her overall make-up. Everything about her drove me wild. Wild enough to allow her to fuck me in a crowded parking lot. I didn't give a fuck, though. Whenever she wanted this dick, I would happily serve it to her on a platter.

"I'm about to cum, baby," she moaned, rocking her hips faster.

"Get yo' shit off, baby."

"Mmm, you going to cum with me, baby?"

"I'm right behind you."

"Oh fuck!" Kenzi's body shivered over me as I grabbed her hips and pumped inside of her from the bottom, releasing deep into her walls.

"Fucking freak ass," I commented, slapping her ass and grabbing handfuls. Kenzi giggled just as someone tapped on the window.

Like the trained shooter I was, my gun instantly came up about to blow whoever thought they could walk up on my shit. When I looked and saw April, I clicked the safety off.

"Babe, please," Kenzi begged, fixing her dress.

"Get that bitch away from our window before I put a bullet between her eyes."

"Okay. Let me handle it. Turn the truck on." I turned the key so Kenzi could roll the window down.

"This really isn't a good time. Can we help you with something?"

"I don't need you to help me with anything," April sassed.

"Mona, she got five seconds," I warned.

"Ma'am, I strongly advise you to take a walk. I'm sitting on him so that he won't get out of this car. Walk away, please."

"Ruger!" I lifted my gun as Kenzi rolled up the window. "I just want to talk to you." April knocked on the window like a fucking dickhead. I tapped Kenzi to get back in her seat, but she didn't move.

"No, Mekai."

"I ain't gon' do shit to her. We're about to leave before I do." Kenzi hesitantly removed herself from me as I fixed my clothes while glaring at April through the dark tint. I started the truck, lifted my seat, then rolled the window down.

"Mekai," Kenzi warned again, but I held my hand up, signaling to her that I was good.

"April, I'm going to take your head and twist that bitch all the way around until I hear every bone snap in your neck if you don't get the fuck away from my whip. The way you're acting like a bird behind a nigga who never gave you shit but dick is crazy to me. However, I have been known to make bitches crazy with the dick I deliver."

Kenzi punched me in my arm.

"I'm sorry, baby, but I'm only speaking the truth."

"I thought you were just a little mad at me and we could get over it, but you're really doing this?"

"Wrap that shit up, Mekai. There's too much dialogue for me."

I smirked at Kenzi's obvious jealousy. That shit made my chest expand as I looked back at April.

"Bitch, he ain't gon' do shit but break your fucking heart! His broken ass don't know the first thing about loving someone. I bet he only goes to your house, fuck you, then ghost you for weeks. You ain't special, bitch!"

"That's a lie because he loves the fuck out of me. I sleep in his bed every night and ride that dick whenever I want to. You weren't shit special. Baby, pull off on that delusional broad before I get out of this truck."

April's face dropped as I smiled.

"You heard my baby. Bye." I rolled the window up then put the truck in reverse, pulling out of the parking lot. I picked up my blunt from the ashtray and lit it while inhaling as much as I could.

"Is that the Arby's chick?" I damn near choked on the smoke in my lungs.

"Yooo, you fucking wild, man."

"Well, you said her vagina looked like roast beef. Then, I saw the commercial the other day and thought about what you told me."

"Fuck... yeah, that was her."

"You must have liked it then because you were going down on her."

"I ain't ever ate that bitch's pussy... ever."

"Wasn't her shit loose?"

"Nah. I won't lie on her pussy. It was good, but that's it. Nothing else about April was interesting enough for me to commit to her."

"What about me?" Kenzi asked, smiling at me.

"You already know what it is, Mona. What's understood doesn't have to be explained."

"Maybe I need a little validation."

"Every morning and every night for two months straight, my head has been between your thighs. I ain't ever ate so much pussy in my life. I have to have that shit because it feeds my soul. And when I fuck you..." I whistled. "I lose control of myself to the point where I would kill every nigga who thinks they could step to you on that type of time."

"Do you love me, Ruger?"

"Without a question." It had to be love because I was already envisioning what I would do to a nigga if he ever tried her.

"Awww, I love you too, bookie," she cooed, pinching my cheek. I took her hand and kissed the back of it.

"Promise not to hurt me, Kenzi."

"I promise, babe. I can't even imagine hurting you after witnessing you crash out about seeing your mom. I don't ever want to see that side of you again. I just want to heal you, not harm you."

"Then you'll have my love and loyalty forever." She leaned over the counsel and kissed my lips. We pulled up to the house fifteen minutes later.

"I know you're hungry, so I'm going to feed you, fuck you, then hold you," I told her.

She blushed. "Sounds like a plan."

"Thank you for stopping me from killing people tonight. If you weren't there, I'd be in jail."

"You're welcome. Thank you for allowing me to calm you. I can't imagine seeing you behind bars. You need to fix shit with my besties, though."

I sucked my teeth. "Man."

"I'm serious, Mekai. They love you, and your nieces adore you. And although I understand why you were upset, they didn't deserve your anger."

"I'll think about it."

"Okay, while you think about it, this kitty will be on recluse."

"That's a motherfuckin' lie."

"Try me," Kenzi challenged, folding her arms.

"A'ight, man, damn."

"Good boy. Now, come on so you can feed me, fuck me, and hold me." Kenzi laughed just as my phone rang. I picked it up from the cupholder and saw Omar's name on the screen.

"Hold that thought, baby." I answered the call. "Omar... tell me something good."

"Finally found that missing dinosaur. I have it over on Conner and Gratiot."

"Best news I heard all fucking night, Omar. I'm on my way."

"See you soon."

I hung up and looked over at Kenzi.

"My uncle found Nino, so I gotta go handle this tonight."

"Oh... okay. You be careful, Mekai. Please come back to me and bring my brother and bestie back with you."

"Always, baby." I kissed Kenzi's lips, got out, and walked her to the door. I put in a call to one of my members to watch the house then got back in my truck and sped off, happy that I could kill something tonight besides pussy.

"You really wasn't gon' tell me you found him?" Jax asked as soon as I stepped out of the truck.

My MCR members were all in attendance, even though I didn't need them all to be. However, my rule was always one band, one sound, so seeing them here didn't surprise me.

"You here, ain't you?" I asked.

Yeah, I was still salty about what happened tonight. My and Jax's relationship remained solid because he never brought her around me or forced me to have a relationship with Shayna, but to hear him tell her she didn't have to leave had me vexed. I knew I shouldn't be mad at him. It wasn't his fault he received the good side of Shayna. It just hurt to see that their relationship was good while my relationship with her was dust. In my own selfish way, I wanted my brother to hate her with me.

"Whatever, nigga. Let's get this shit over with."

"You didn't have to come. Go be with your family... maybe invite ya moms over so y'all can celebrate Father's Day and shit."

Jax stared at me before he scoffed and chuckled.

"Grow up, Kai. I get why you're upset, but it's been over twenty years. You'll be thirty-eight this year, and you're still holding on to that hurt she caused you. I was there, Kai. I saw it all, and Dad and I always protected you. I offered to take you to therapy, but you refused. You're only angry because you won't let that shit go."

"Put yourself in my shoes, nigga. She never laid a fucking finger on you. She praised you every chance she got and used to tell you that you looked better than me because you had a better skin color. She would feed you and Pops but force me to make my own food."

"I was there, Kai. I saw the shit too."

"So, you should know that having the woman who birthed you treat you worse than a dog ain't an easy thing to just get over. The bitch never apologized. She never tried to make shit right with me... but now, it's too late. I don't want her fake ass love. Had she come forth when I was still a teenager, I would have probably forgiven her. Now, that crippled bitch can rot in hell for all I give a fuck."

"I'm off that shit. I can't make you do shit you don't want to do. I just don't want to be at odds with your stubborn ass."

"Then next time, remove that broad from my presence."

"You niggas want to stand out here on bullshit, or are y'all coming inside?" I heard Omar yell from across the way. We were at an old factory that sat far back away from the main road.

I looked around but didn't see Gruesome.

"Where's Grue?" I asked as we approached the door. I could hear Nino's screams coming from inside.

"Handling his business inside. Come on," Omar said, waving us inside.

We all walked in and took the stairs down to the main floor. In the center of the room, Grue was taking a sledgehammer to Nino's knees. His legs dangled as if they were detachable, while his face looked as if animals had feasted on it. In the corner, tied to a chair, Nani sat crying.

"Damn, Grue. I guess you couldn't wait for us, huh?" I asked.

"Nah, this pussy touched my sister and didn't honor the code of the streets. You don't fuck with women or children."

"I can dig it. Why the fuck is she here, though?"

"You told us to grab her up, OG," Loon, my little hitta, spoke up.

"I told y'all to take her to Blaine Street, not here. But fuck all that... What up, Nino Brown? Long time no see," I taunted.

"Fuck you!"

"It's always the tough ones." I chuckled. "My condolences to your grandfather. I heard he had an unfortunate accident."

"You niggas gon' pay for that shit. Let me the fuck loose, and I promise you I'll fuck you up, bitch!"

"Shut the fuck up!" Grue yelled, swinging the sledgehammer down on Nino's shoulder blade.

"Fuuuuckk!" Nino cried.

"You've been loose for two months and ain't did shit. Your time is up, bro. Where'd you find his ass, O?"

"He was hiding out with the Hellraizers."

"Oh, that's family! You thought they were going to protect you? I helped half them niggas put their kids through college."

"I knew I should have gutted that bitch when I had her. You think you run this city, but you don't run shit! Ya ass live in Bloomfield!"

"I live there, but I'm not from there, dumbass. I'm Detroit through and through... born and raised in this bitch, and what you don't understand is that I never had to cause war when I rule. I get more love in these streets because of what I provide for my community. You, on the other hand, like to torture motherfuckas to get what you want, but you see where that got you. Now, you're about to join your granddaddy in that upper room, nigga."

"Fuck you pussy ass MCR niggas! You bitches are weak as fuck! Ask that bitch if she liked the way my tongue felt on them pretty ass titties. Then again, the way she was moaning, I knew she loved that shit."

Nino's sinister laugh triggered me, and without a second thought, I pulled out my gun and lit his ass up. His body slumped over as my crew began the clean-up.

"You should have let me end his ass," Grue said, spitting on his dead body.

"You did your part, and I did mine."

"Glad this shit is over," Jax chimed in.

"No more outbursts, Grue. If you feel yourself about to crash out, take your fucking meds. You almost got my wife killed because you can't control your temper," I told him.

"Your wife? What you mean, your wife?" he asked, appalled.

"Speaking it into existence, bro-in-law."

Jax laughed as Omar walked over to us.

"So, what's about to happen with the girl?" Omar asked.

I walked over to Nani and dropped to my haunches to be at eye level with her.

"Listen, if you want to keep your life, you will keep what you saw here tonight to yourself. Don't contact Kenzi ever again, but you can thank God and her for sparing you tonight. Get your shit together because setting up your best friend is crazy work. Start choosing yourself first before you end up on Fox 2 News while that fine chick Harlem Daniels covers your story. Am I clear?"

Nani wildly nodded as I stood.

"Drop her ass off at her front door and give her a couple dollars. The least I can do is get her tracks tightened since she did show a little loyalty," I instructed Draco as he nodded. "Let's get the fuck out of here. I got a shorty to go feed, fuck, and hold."

"Aye, man, I don't want to hear that shit!" Grue yelled, and I laughed on my way out the door.
