Chapter 6
Chapter Six
Scythe
Rage burns through my veins, and I take a breath to get it in control.
Finally, having my mouth on Josephine, the last thing I want is to be interrupted.
My cock is rock hard, pressing into the zipper of my jeans.
Normally, I can restrain myself more, but having her here, tasting those tits and that mouth, I’m more than ready to sink into her.
And I would have if not for my fucking twin brother coming in the room.
“What do you mean he needs us in church?” I demand, keeping Styxx from seeing Josephine right now. Normally, I don’t give a damn if he sees the woman I’m toying with. But when it comes to sweet, oh so fucking sweet, Josephine, I don’t want anyone seeing even an inch of her that they shouldn’t.
“Just what I said. So, you might want to come on and get it over with. The sooner it’s done, the sooner you can get back to what you were doing here.” He chuckles, giving me that shit-eating grin of his.
“Fuck you,” I remark and let out a heavy breath. “Give me a minute, and I’ll be right out.”
“You got it.” Styxx steps from the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
Pivoting on my heel, I focus on Josephine as she sits on the edge of my bed, that bottom lip was drawn between her teeth. Damnit, I don’t want to leave her. Not when she’s looking at me with those lust-filled eyes.
“I’ve got to get to church,” I tell her as I move into her space, leaning over her until she has no choice but to fall back on the bed as I hover over her.
“So, I heard,” she breathes, and that husky, seductive voice goes straight to my dick. “I should probably get out of here and let you get to it.”
I don’t fucking think so. I’m nowhere near done with her.
“Do me a favor and stay in here for me.”
“What? Why?” Josephine’s eyes widen, and she licks her lip.
Grinning, I lower my mouth to hers and whisper against our brushing lips, “Because we’re not done, and I want you here when I get back from church.”
“But—”
“Tell me you’ll stay in here until I get back,” I interrupt her.
Josephine gives me an indecisive look but nods. “Okay.”
“Good, Freckles, now just relax, and when I get back in here, we’ll finish what we started.” I press a kiss to those alluring lips of hers, running my tongue along the seam of them. “Do me one other favor, baby.” I smirk, leaning up enough to see her eyes. “Be naked for me.”
I ignore the gasp, and those beautiful eyes of hers widen farther. Shoving away from her, I adjust my cock into a somewhat less erect position and make my way out of the room, closing and locking the door behind me. There’s no way I want someone walking in on her.
The anger from being interrupted just a bit ago nearly boils over when I step into church and find Jamie standing off to the side of the room while my brothers take their seats.
“What’s he doing in here?” I demand, curling my lip in fury at the sight of him smirking at me.
“Seems he’s got something he’d like to talk to us about, and we need to hear him out,” Reaper remarks, nodding to my chair. “You’re gonna need to take a seat while he tells us about the information he has.”
Cocking a brow, I slowly lower myself into my seat while staring directly at Jamie. “And what is this information that we want to know?”
“It has to do with the Scarlet Needles and that fucked up shit that happened with Everleigh’s family,” Jamie announces, losing that smirk of his.
“How the hell do you know about that?” Daemon snarls, fists forming.
“Because my team is also looking into them.” Jamie looks around the room, then stops to look between Styxx and me. “Finnegan asked me to come talk with you all.”
Hold the fuck on. “You work with Finnegan?”
“Our cousin, Finnegan?” Styxx grinds out.
“One and the same,” Jamie confirms and starts talking about the Scarlet Needles and Case. At the mention of Case, Daemon tenses, and we all feel it rolling off him. He wants that fucker dead more than anyone else.
The information Jamie gives us I find interesting.
Some of it, I already found, but the rest is eerie, and I hadn’t gotten to it yet.
Shit, the stuff they’ve found has my teeth clenching and my nerves on edge.
I now know why I couldn’t find a damn thing on Jamie.
The very fact he works for Finnegan makes him know more than a boogeyman.
I’m surprised he even allowed us the information about who he works for.
The men on Finnegan’s team and those who work with him are no more than ghosts to the rest of the world.
Fuck.
By the time he’s finished, the air is strife, and we’re all pissed.
Jamie looks at me and pulls a flash drive out of his pocket.
“Finnegan told me to give this to you,” he says, stepping to the table and sliding it across to me.
I grab it and hold it up, quirking a brow in question.
“It’s the latest program you’ll want. It’s designed to make you invisible when entering all back doors.
You’ll be able to find all the information I’ve given you today and more. ”
Styxx mutters a curse under his breath about Finnegan and how he’s a bastard, but I ignore him.
“Why didn’t Finnegan bring this to me himself?” I ask, curious as to my cousin’s motives.
Jamie looks to Styxx and then back to me.
“You know the answer to that question. Knowing Finnegan the way I do, I figured it was best I come in his place. Especially when I looked to see what my sister’s been up to.
She’s not been telling me everything, and when I found out she was dating that tool, I volunteered. ”
“What do you mean she’s not been telling you everything?” Angel straightens and eyes Jamie, calculating. It’s interesting watching him and Reaper. The way they seem watchful, looking for anything to happen at a moment’s notice.
Turning his attention to Angel and then around the table once more, Jamie sighs.
“My sister emails me and keeps me up to date with her life and things that are happening around her. She told me about how her friends had gotten involved with the club but nothing more. I could kick her ass for not telling me about that bitch Juniper or the other shit that’s happened, but she’s smart and knows how to handle herself. ”
“Meaning what?” Now I’m more than curious.
“Meaning, Dad and I made sure that Jo can handle any situation to rise. She knows how to weld a knife, same as shoot any gun put in her hand. So don’t piss her off, or she just might shoot you.
” Jamie’s eyes glimmer with amusement and he straightens.
“Something about my sister no one knows is she’s not one for attention and doesn’t like drama.
Hates it. Doesn’t like being told what to do and is ballsy as anyone I know.
She might seem like she’s just a normal woman who enjoys herself, content in what she does for a living and every now and then getting to ride her four-wheeler, but she’s not normal. She’s unique.”
Reaper concludes church a few moments later after allowing me the chance to let Jamie’s words sink in. I stand and look at the Reaper. “I’ll get on this and see what else I can about this group.”
Nodding, Reaper meets my gaze. “I want this shit figured out soon. I don’t want anything else happening because of them,” he says and lets out a heavy breath. “We’ve got a meet with Dusan coming up, and we don’t need anything fuckin’ it up.”
“Nothing will fuck it up, I swear it.” I mean it. I’ll make sure of it myself if need be.
Leaving church, I make my way back to my room, ignoring the women calling for my attention. They always do this, and lately, it’s become annoying.
The moment I step into my room, I clench my teeth because I already know before I see the bed, Josephine is gone.
I glance around the room out of habit, more than ready to punch something .
. . or someone. I spot a slip of paper folded on the nightstand, and my gaze narrows on it.
Pissed, I cross the room, pick the note up, and read the two simple words.
‘I’m sorry.’ That’s it. All she had to say.
She left after I told her I wanted her here.
Clenching the damn paper in my hand, I stalk back to the main room, straight out the door, and to my bike. I’m not about to play this game with her.
“She’s fuckin’ gone,” I snarl, entering the clubhouse an hour later. My eyes locked on Jamie, still sitting with several of my brothers.
Jamie locks eyes with me and cocks a brow. “You hit me, and I’m telling you, I will fuck you up.”
“I’d like to see you fuckin’ try. Now where the fuck is she?” My chest vibrates, the fury of not finding her at her house pissing me off. When I get my hands on that woman, she will feel my hand on that perk ass of hers for disobeying me and then taking off.
“What do you mean where is she?” Ivy asks, brows furrowing.
Jamie leans back in his chair and shakes his head. “She didn’t tell anyone about it,” he mutters, seeming to talk to himself and sighs, shaking his head.
“Didn’t tell anyone what?” Sutton demands before I can.
“That she’s competing this weekend,” Jamie announces and shares with all of us what Josephine is up to. “She’s heading down there tonight to get a spot and get rested up for tomorrow.”
“I’m going to kick her ass,” Ivy snaps, huffs, and narrows her gaze. “I can’t believe she didn’t tell us.”
“We’ve been kind of busy lately,” Everleigh suggests, placing her hand on her small, rounded stomach.
“Yeah, but we would have supported her,” Isabelle remarks.
“That’s just it. She didn’t want anyone there,” Jamie explains. “She seems to think if anyone’s there, she’ll fuck up.”
“You sound as if you’ve seen her compete before,” I comment, watching the other man.
“Of course, I have. I try to go to all of them. She just doesn’t know it. I video it for our parents and send it to them.” He shrugs. “She’s damn good. Always winning.”
“I wish we could go.” Sutton pouts.
“I know. I love the twins, and I don’t want to leave them.” Ivy sighs.
“Where’s the competition at?” I ask.
“Four hours south,” he says, naming the mud park as he stands. “I better get going.”
I grunt and ignore him while I make plans of my own as Beast speaks up.
“I have a suggestion that might make everyone happy.”
“What?” I cock a brow. “I’m going,” I announce like everyone didn’t already know this.
“I’m talking to the ol’ ladies.” Beast grunts and makes his suggestion about asking a couple of the girls that work for the club, who we all know are trustworthy, to come with.
They could watch the kids while the ol’ ladies are out, and then afterward, the girls can go out to have some fun of their own.
“You can even have the prospects with them as well for security.”
Ivy and the others look at each other then she turns her attention to Reaper. “What do you think?”
“Go pack, Precious,” Reaper tells her.
We all know what Josephine means to Ivy, Sutton, Isabelle, and Everleigh. Even Stella. The five of them are tight and want to be there for their friend, and I don’t blame them. If it were one of my brothers, I’d do the same.
With it being Josephine, I’ll be there tomorrow to support her but also to teach her a lesson in leaving my bed when I tell her not to.
