Chapter 92

Harlow

Caterina helped me out of the limo, and we posed for a few pictures before walking into the building.

Serenity leaped into my arms as Caterina flanked my other side.

People whispered Caterina’s name like they were afraid of her and her power.

It was empowering knowing I was on the arm of one of the most powerful women in the city.

No one knew the real Caterina Moretti. Everyone assumed she was this badass mafia boss, which was true, but I saw the teddy bear.

The golden Doberman since she acted just like our boys did when it came to me and our little girl.

Caterina had a heart of pure gold and a soul to match.

She was kind, compassionate, and would do anything to make sure the people she cared about were taken care of and safe.

She wanted everyone to believe she was the unapproachable crime boss, but she wasn’t.

Now with our lives finally going as planned, maybe people would see the softer side of my wife.

There was a sea of black ties and elegant dresses.

Glass sparkled like a thousand stars and laughter swirled around us.

Even in this vast sea, I caught a glimpse of Mallory, her wife, and their children.

Aaliyah spotted me and immediately made a beeline for me, followed by her brothers.

I picked Aaliyah up and fixed the pink puffy sleeves of her dress.

“You look very beautiful in your dress, and your brothers look very dashing in their suits.”

“Mommy said I am her pretty princess.” Aaliyah beamed, twirling in her pink ballgown.

“The prettiest princess. Your mommy was right.” Mallory and Izara stepped towards us, and Mallory pulled me into a side hug. “She’s mine, Mommy.”

Mallory laughed, brushing her daughter’s hair away from her face. “Harlow, I think you stole my child from me.”

“We’ll take good care of her.” I laughed. “So when is the auction?”

“It’ll be around ten,” she said.

I brushed Aaliyah’s hair from her face. “Do you want to play with Serenity?” The two girls cheered.

I let them run off and join the other foster kids.

Caterina brought me a glass of champagne as Mallory and I chatted.

My life was finally on the direction it was always meant to go.

I was with the woman I loved, had my daughter, and I had my entire family.

I was still healing from what Vincenzo did, past and present, but he wouldn’t control me for the rest of my life. My life would be mine again.

Caterina took my hand and pulled me to the dance floor. I quickly finished my champagne, placing it on a tray before wrapping my hands around her neck. She pulled me closer to her, our bodies swaying to the soft instrumentals. The world vanished around us as I focused on her.

My wife.

My heart.

My soulmate.

Caterina was everything and more. Who knew my life would change so much because of misinformation. A mission of revenge turned into a life of love and healing. I never thought I would enjoy being kidnapped again, but she gave me the best thing I could ever wish for.

My freedom.

She showed me what it meant to be free. To live my life and to enjoy the things I once forgot about.

She was giving me the chance to do something with my life and not just be her wife.

Being her wife was the greatest blessing, but now I had the chance to be more than Mrs. Harlow Moretti. I could just be Harlow.

“What are you thinking about?”

“You.”

Caterina’s brow perked up. “All good things? Yes?”

I laughed as she dipped me. “Does kidnapping count as a good thing?” I joked. “I was thinking about how our lives could be different if you never learned about me or if I was never his favorite.”

“There is no reason to live in the past. I have you now, and he is dead. Everything he did and all the girls he hurt will finally have their justice.”

“I know. Because of you.”

“Because of us. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to do this. You inspired a lot of people with your strength, Harlow. You made me a better person and a better leader.”

My fingers tangled into her hair. “And you gave me everything I thought I would never have. I can’t wait to conquer life with you, Mrs. Moretti.”

“And I can’t wait to love you for the rest of my life, Mrs. Moretti.”
