Dear Diary

I’m worried. Killian has been sick the whole week, but he insists on coming into school despite it.

He has grown even more clingy to me than usual.

He always has to hold my hand, he follows me to the door of the girl’s bathroom, during recess, we lay on the grass, and he hugs me.

These things usually wouldn’t bother me.

I mean we’re practically extended body parts of each other but

He said it was because he didn’t want to miss me, but …

I think there’s something else happening.

Today, he had a very bad fever. He seemed so pale, so tired.

I’ve told him to go to the doctor or at least the school nurse, but he keeps saying it’s nothing like that.

He had deep shadows under his red swollen eyes. I know he’d been crying.

He couldn’t even walk right.

But when we were out in the field, he fell asleep on my lap, didn’t even eat and then he woke up crying.

Seeing him like this... it hurt my heart do much I ended up crying too.

I hugged him and told him I got him, that everything would be okay, but …

I don’t understand. Why won’t he tell me what’s really going on. Why won’t he tell me the truth?

Love,

Magdalena Michaelson
