Chapter Thirty-One
OCEAN
“Whose blood is that?” Coby asked the moment the three of us were shut inside her bedroom. Hunter was looking around the room, which looked like a palace, and I could tell she was impressed but didn’t want to show it.
“Someone who got in my way,” I answered.
My father’s men had tried to ambush me on the way from Glamis to Glainne, but it hadn’t gone so well for his men. Abel and I narrowly escaped, and my rage over the delay in getting to Coby and Hunter had me eager to go back out there and paint the streets red.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, mo aingeal.” I moved to sit on one of those ridiculous pink and gold chaises, and Coby and Hunter followed once I waved them over to join.
They were both acting jittery and nervous as they sat beside each other on the opposite chaise.
I’m sure my dark mood wasn’t helping. By coming for them, my father had severed the last of the tattered bond between us, and now I was going to kill his ass. “Tell me what happened.”
“What happened isn’t as important as what didn’t happen,” Coby snapped. “Why didn’t you tell us the woman your father wanted you to marry was Niamh?”
I winced and for good reason. The way they were both looking at me matched the feeling of a million fucking bugs crawling all over me. “It wasn’t relevant because there was no force on earth and no punishment my father could enact to make me go through with that shit.”
“Does Niamh know?” Coby asked. When I nodded, she didn’t look surprised, but I wasn’t hung up on it, and neither was Coby. “That’s why you were going to force me to marry you. You were trying to save Niamh.”
“Don’t romanticize what I did, mo aingeal. I was giving Niamh a choice by taking away yours.
“Yes, but…Ocean, I saw the way she looked when I told her we were getting married. She looked so scared and vulnerable, but there was hope, too. You gave that to her. And now I know why she kept thanking me every time we saw each other.” Coby wrinkled her nose like my cousin’s unexplained gratitude had been nothing more than a nuisance.
“And you?” I challenged, wanting her to never forget that I might not have been insane like my father, but I was still no hero.
“Me?” Coby shook her head when she caught on to what I was asking. “I was never afraid to marry you. You never gave me any reason to. I could have done without the kidnapping, but it is what it is.”
My gaze traveled over to Hunter, who had been unnervingly silent. Her ass had fallen asleep with her head on her fist—as if today had been just another day—I chuckled and held my finger up to my lips when Coby started to call her name.
Standing, I lifted Hunter from the chaise, and she barely stirred as I carried her over to the bed and laid her on it. I then got to work removing her boots and weapons.
Behind me, Coby gasped. “Oh no.” When I peeked over my shoulder, she asked. “Where’s Coco?”
“He’s in my room.” I’m glad I had the forethought to grab the little rat before I left Glamis. I had no doubt that Hunter would have risked her life going to rescue him.
I was having similar thoughts about my mom, who was currently trapped there with him. There was nothing I could do about it now, so I pushed it from my mind. If anyone could successfully navigate my father’s rage unscathed, it was her.
Once Hunter was stripped down to just her clothes, I took Coby into the bathroom with me.
I lifted her onto the sink and pulled off her ruined heels.
As I suspected, her tiny feet were red and swollen from running through the city on foot, so I pulled her right foot in my hand and gently massaged it.
“Anything else happen today?” Coby didn’t answer right away. She was already leaning back with her eyes closed and moaning as I kneaded the sore muscles in her feet. “Coby.” Her eyes slowly opened when I released her foot. “Anything you want to tell me?”
After thinking about it for a while, she nodded. “Something else happened, something with Hunter and me, but I’m not ready to tell you. Is-is that okay?”
“Of course.” Grabbing her left foot, I repeated my ministration, and Coby’s eyes fluttered.
After thoroughly working the muscles in her foot, I helped her stand and then undressed us both before we got in the shower. I kept my arm around her small waist since she looked too exhausted to stay on her feet.
I wouldn’t ever stop reminding myself that I’d almost lost them both today.
I wouldn’t let myself forget so that it never happened again.
They had been right to run. My father would have used them to bring me to heel, and then he would have slaughtered them anyway as a warning to the rest of the family.
The shower water was beating down on us, and Coby was squirming in my arms minutes later as I cleaned her perfect pussy. Her soft moans were driving me up the wall and steering my mind into the gutter, but I was still aware of the bathroom door opening just a crack.
Hunter was awake.
I could feel her eyes on us, so I waited, enjoying the anticipation of her joining us.
She didn’t come in.
Hunter wanted a show, and it just so happened I was in the mood give her one. Coby said something had happened between them today, but it had only been a matter of time.
Did I feel threatened? Not at fucking all.
Was I jealous? Most definitely.
But whatever they felt for each other, they both still belonged to me.
My lips moved across Coby’s shoulders as I drove my hips forward. My goddamn dick was harder than a brick. “You want it?”
Coby responded by pushing her ass back against me. “Yeah,” she moaned.
I pecked the soft skin of Coby’s shoulder. “Good. I want you to get on your knees, sweet girl.”
I turned us so that my back took the brunt of the steaming shower water, and then I gently pushed Coby to the ground.
I was facing the door now, but I didn’t allow my gaze to shift that way.
I focused on Coby as I grabbed her nape with one hand and my dick with the other.
In this moment, I had eyes only for Coby, staring into her beautiful, trusting brown ones as I began to pump.
Up, down. Up, down. I squeezed the head on my upstroke, and pre-cum leaked from the tip.
It landed on the deep bow-shaped curve of her upper lip, and I watched her pink tongue dart out.
I could feel my balls tightening when she curiously licked the drop from her lip.
Her eyes became hungry, and then she lurched forward, mouth parted and ready to swallow me whole. My hand tightened around her nape to keep her still.
“You don’t want me to suck you?”
“Yeah, baby,” I answered with a grunt. I was pumping harder and faster now. “You’re going to suck me.”
Coby squirmed impatiently, and I could still feel Hunter watching, wanting, but she refused to join us.
A part of me was thrilled for the hunt. But my patience was wearing thin.
I grunted again when my balls drew up, so I thumbed Coby’s lips open. The moment she eagerly opened wide, I shoved my dick inside with a groan and only managed to fuck her mouth twice before spilling down her throat.
Coby didn’t miss a beat, deep-throating my dick while I locked gazes with Hunter through the crack in the door. Did she like what she saw? Was she touching herself? My toes curled against the shower floor when it felt like I wouldn’t stop coming.
After what felt like forever, I reluctantly pulled my dick from Coby’s mouth before helping her stand. I felt Hunter leave as I shoved Coby against the glass wall and kissed her.
Once we left the shower and finished our nightly hygiene, I carried Coby to bed and tucked her in.
“What are you going to do?” she whispered in the dark once I lay down next to her. She was curled up against my side with her hand on my chest while I stared at the ceiling with my arm under my head.
“I’m going to kill my father.”
“No. I mean… about Hunter. I know you know.”
That they ran from me? Yeah. Kellan told me what happened when he tried to help them.
“Don’t be mad at her. None of this is easy for Hunter.
She has a hard time letting people in. We didn’t even like each other the first time we met,” she whispered with a yawn.
“She thought I was sheltered and naive, and I thought she was bitter and a bitch.” The news surprised me, but I said nothing as Coby got what she needed to say off her chest. “Hunter faced down the head of the mob today, and she wasn’t afraid.
Her heart is a different story. She’s terrified of trusting it, so be patient with her.
Just a little while longer. Hunter’s worth it. ”
“I will,” I promised. “And I know. I’m not angry with either of you. I promise.”
“Good,” she said with another yawn. “I’d hate for us to jump you, too.” I laughed while Coby giggled. I had no doubt they would. “So I guess this means the wedding is off?”
My head snapped toward her as I frowned so hard it was a wonder my face didn’t break. “Why would you say that?”
Coby worriedly chewed on her lip. “Your father knows.”
Leaning over, I kissed the top of her head. “Mo aingeal, my father isn’t stopping shit. He’s only delaying it for a while. My pops will be lucky if he makes it another week after what he did today.”
“Your mom might be mad.”
“My mother hates him more than I do.” I rolled Coby onto her back and climbed on top of her before she could say another word. “No more worrying about other people’s thoughts. You’re my queen, Coby. Anyone who doesn’t bow down will get put down. Understand?”
Even through the dark, I could see her blushing. “I don’t want you killing anyone for me.”
“Too bad.” I tickled her sides, which made her squeal, and then I rolled away before pulling her into my arms. “Now go to sleep for me, sweetheart.”
“Okay.” Coby snuggled deeper into me. “Night.”
I waited until I was sure she was sleeping deeply before kissing her cheek and leaving the room. I went to my room, dressed in jeans and a hoodie, and strapped a few weapons to me.
