Chapter 29 – Hunter Hunter Stevens Miller Mess Around #3

He laughed. “And very sneaky. No one saw it coming.”

“You offered to kill Mr. Halifax,” Axel said.

RJ shrugged. “Sometimes small pranks become big pranks. You have to just roll with it.”

“Oh my God,” I said. “That’s terrible.”

“All for the sake of a prank.” RJ lifted his hand for a high five.

“Whatever.” I high fived him. “I’m just glad Sophie’s not going to prison.”

The cops walked away.

Mr. Halifax leaned over and whispered something to Sophie and then walked away. He looked very, very mad. He pushed open the doors of the cafeteria and the doors clanged against the walls.

Sophie bit her lip as she watched him disappear. And then she saw us and hurried over. “I am so pissed. The guy that my horse guy knows is apparently a con-artist. It wasn’t even cocaine. That little asshole. Do you think I can sue him?”

“Sue a drug dealer?” I asked. “I don’t think that’s a thing. Besides, RJ was the one that swapped it for baby powder.”

RJ slapped my arm. “I could have kept the prank going, narc.”

Narc? What?

“RJ,” Sophie said. “That was...” She laughed. “That was hilarious.”

“I know, right?” He smiled.

Was it funny though? Sometimes I really didn’t understand their pranks.

“Did Mr. Halifax cover for you?” Axel asked. “Or was that the story you told him about the drugs?”

A smile spread over his face. “He covered for me. He’d already called the cops before the dance. And I guess he didn’t want the love of his life in federal prison. He’s so in love with me.”

“He looked kind of mad,” I said.

“I know. He’s so hot when he’s angry with me. The way his fingertips dug into my arm when he pulled me out of the cafeteria to yell at me earlier? God.” She fanned her face. “I almost came, I swear.”

“Sophie, that was really scary. You had us all really worried.”

“Except me,” RJ said. “Because of the prank.” He giggled.

I sighed.

“Sorry,” she said. “But I had to do something to get Mr. Halifax to notice me. And he finally touched me!”

“Did he?” Axel asked.

“Yeah, I just told you. He touched my arm.” She pointed to the spot.

“Oh. Sorry. I thought you meant he like...touched you touched you.”

“Gah, I wish. Next time, surely. So what did I miss when I was getting reprimanded by Mr. Halifax?”

“Get this,” RJ said. “Axel is a virgin and was super pissed that Scar gave Jacob head.”

Sophie gasped. “Plot twist.”

“Woah, really?” Liam said. “Axel, you’re a virgin?”

Axel shrugged. “Why does everyone say that like it’s a bad thing? I waited for your sister. It’s...”

“Romantic,” I said.

He smiled down at me.

“This is great,” Sophie said. “You’re both on the same level. Because Scar was really worried she’d do something weird during sex since she did all that weird stuff the first couple times she gave Jacob head.”

Ah!

Jacob shook his head at her.

“What did I say?” she asked.

“What is Sophie talking about?” Axel asked.

I sighed. “I...um...” I sighed again. Damn it! “I may have choked when he...you know.” I made a miming motion of blowing Jacob and then him exploding.

Axel grabbed my hand to stop me from doing that.

“And maybe I got it in my eyes once. Or whatever.”

Axel looked a little pissed, but he didn’t say anything.

“Gross,” Liam said. “Because it’s my sister. It’s actually really hot when a girl takes it right in the face, am I right?”

Jacob and RJ both nodded.

“That feels very disrespectful,” Axel said.

“Good,” Liam said. “Don’t do that to my sister. But you guys, Natalivanka is so hot. She always wants it all over her face. She thinks it like moisturizes her skin or something.”

Ew!

“Who’s Natalivanka?” Liam’s date asked.

“Just a girl from out of town I sometimes hook up with.”

“Oh. Okay,” she said, like that wasn’t a big deal.

I was pretty sure it was. Or were single college girls like...okay with that or something?

Luckily I didn’t need to know anything about the weird sex lives of single college girls. Because I was already engaged. I pressed my lips together. I mean almost engaged.

I was still wearing Axel’s leather jacket. I slid my hand into the pocket and felt the ring box. I’d really liked it when he’d called me his fiancée.

“As fun as this has been,” Axel said. “Do you maybe want to get out of here?”

“Yeah, you guys want to go for milkshakes or something?” RJ asked.

Everyone started to agree.

Axel leaned down to whisper into my ear. “I was really just talking to you.”

I laughed. Yeah, I’d gotten that. “But...milkshakes? It feels so on theme with the dance, you know? Doing the twist and then hanging out in a diner? This is kind of the perfect date night.” I smiled up at him. It also felt kind of 50s to be engaged at 17.

Axel put his arm around my shoulders. He leaned down to whisper in my ear. “This is actually kind of our first date, huh?”

“Yeah, I guess it is.” I smiled up at him. Although we’d gone on lots of cute little dates when we were kids. “Who knew I was the type of girl to go to third on a first date?”

He just shook his head and pulled me into his chest.

I wrapped my arms around him. I couldn’t picture a better first date than this.
