Chapter 15

CHAPTER 15

The next two days were busy as hell for the four women as they studied both diaries, looked at the photos and tried to match the date entries with the photos. All they could do was thank Hank for being the liaison between them and Warcloud.

Unbeknownst to Warcloud, and the others, while Diesel, Viper and Jacko had met the others before going to Catori’s, Marcus had stayed behind in the wooded area to keep searching for clues. Marcus has always been considered the best tracker that the US Marines had, which is why his team has always been the most successful on their missions.

“The principal from Redford High School finally returned my call. He and the detective that Redford PD assigned to the missing girl’s cases will be waiting for us at one o’clock.” Hank informed the four women as he walked into the room they were using as their conference room.

“What time is it now?” Raso asked, looking up at Hank when he walked into the room.

“It’s ten am. It’ll take us about an hour and a half to get there. Why?” Hank asked, looking at Raso curiously.

“I want to get there before then if possible. Scout around. I want to make sure no one makes an appearance and tries to get them to change their stories before the appointed time.” Raso said, looking at her teammates for confirmation.

“She has a good point. We do need to look around the school some. I want to see if there’s any way that whoever took the girls didn’t have an advantage to watch them at the school from certain location. It’s not uncommon for kidnappers to watch their victims for several days before officially taking them,” Pratt confirmed with Raso.

“What did ye lasses find in the diaries and photos?” Highlander asked as he came into the room and sat next to his wife on the couch she was sitting on.

“I think between both girls, from what we’ve read and confirmed in the photos, there were some levels of physical abuse from Iyei that Catori may not have known. Based off the diary entries, they usually happened if she went to the store while she thought he was passed out or whatever.” Pratt answered her husband, pulling out one of the polaroid photos.

“I would think Catori, as an abused woman herself, would have noticed that.” Hank thought out loud.

“It’s a catch twenty-two. The bruises, that we can see from the photos, were in areas that are easily covered by clothes. The diary entries also confirm that the girls would lie to her about why they were moving a certain way. He never hit them in the face, which is honestly surprising to me. This actually gives us a better idea of how Iyei operates,” York looked over at another photo that had been on the table.

“Did you reach out to Oz and see if he was able to do some digging for us?” Pratt asked her husband as she leaned into him.

“Aye, I did. He just got back to me a few moments ago. He has some information for ye lasses and wanted to know how ye wanted it given.”

“Give him a quick text and see if he can give it to us over the phone and then email it to us as well so we have a physical copy of it,” Pratt nodded at Highlander as she laid the dairy down.

Three seconds later, Highlander’s phone was ringing, and hellos were being said around the room. Hank and Oz said their hello’s and a quick how have you been.

The women knew by the way Oz was sounding, the news wasn’t good for what was about to be relayed to them. Once Hank, Highlander and Oz got their quick bromance conversation done, the show was on the road.

“Iyei Alberty’s family is as dirty as when they come. His father’s side of the family moved to Montana from California when daddy was a kid. Iyei’s mother is Blackfoot, not the father. He’s Mexican and part of the cartel. The grandfather changed their last name from Cabrera to Alberty.” Oz started the presentation over the speakerphone.

“Wait, Cabrera? Aren’t they tied to the Perez Cartel?” Diesel asked looking around the room.

“Yeah, they are a small group that did some wet work for the cartel back in the day. The great grandfather moved his family to the U.S. and would travel back and forth through the years. The grandfather and father were also trained in the same thing. The father met Iyei’s mother during his down time and wound up marrying her.” Oz confirmed, papers rustling in the background.

“You know, through all this, we’ve heard about the father and Iyei’s brother. But we’ve never heard about his mother or if there were any other family members.” Raso pointed out to her teammates.

“I can say this. The mother is dead. She was killed, along with a daughter and another son when her car exploded when Iyei was around three at the time. He grew up with his older brother, Citali and another brother, Anam. Looks like there’s a younger daughter named Eva.” Oz continued, his contempt heard through the phone.

“There’s nothing mentioned in either girl’s books with either name. Wait, there’s a notation that says “C” and one that says “A” in Aiyannei’s book. I just assumed the “A” stood for her. Now that I’m hearing Iyei’s got brother’s none of the others have talked about, I’m wondering if there’s more than Catori knows about.” Pratt leaned forward to go through the book she was reading again.

“I have it here too. Only I see “C” more than I do “A”.” Raso looked over at Pratt with a quirked eyebrow.

“Hank, have you been able to get us a meeting with the grandfather? I want to know what he knows about those two.” Pratt asked, looking over at Hank.

“Yeah. You guys are able to meet with him for fifteen minutes tomorrow morning at ten ‘o clock in the morning.” Hank smirked at the women.
