Chapter 22

CHAPTER 22

The four women loaded up and got on the road. They kept their eyes out to make sure that no one paid extra attention to them as they sped down the dirt road to get to the main entrance and exit to the reservation.

Pratt realized that there had to be a different way for Iyei to get Citali on and off the reservation. She made a mental note to have Hank ask Warcloud and Jace about that when she heard a car speeding up behind them.

Looking into her side mirror, she noticed there was a car speeding towards them at a fast rate of speed. She wasn’t able to see who was behind the wheel due to the dust coming off of the road from their motorcycles.

She waved her hand to York who was riding beside her and pointed towards the back, letting her know they had company. They split to move up beside Raso and Diesel and let them know they had company.

Once they had informed the other two of their company they moved back behind them, waiting for the company to make their move. What it would be, they didn’t know.

Pratt and York were both waiting to hear the sound of the vehicle gun it so they could shift their bikes to the side, knowing that those in front of them would do the same once they did. But the person stayed speeding behind them.

They had roughly twenty minutes until they would get to the road, they would turn off to put them on the main highway. Whatever this person was going to do would probably be between now and then, so they stayed on high alert.

Five minutes later, when they were in the middle of nowhere, the person made their move, opening fire from the windows of the vehicle. The women veered off the road, Pratt’s bike going down due to her rear tire having been shot out by the person in the vehicle.

Once the other three women were safely off the road, they rushed to Pratt, their weapons drawn, returning fire to the vehicle which was now stopped. They noticed two men get out of the vehicle and crouch down as they aimed at them.

Diesel and York returned fire, giving Raso a chance to run to Pratt and help her out from under the motorcycle which went down, pinning her leg underneath it. Once they could see that she was safely away from the motorcycle and okay, they started moving backwards toward Raso and Pratt who had also started returning fire.

Both men went down once all four women started returning fire. Once they had approached the vehicle, they could see that there were multiple shot wounds on both men.

“Looks like Gabe took offense to what we said and decided to take us out.” Raso said as she turned to her sister-in-law. “You good?”

“Yeah. The bike is fucked. Hope Hank knows a good mechanic that can fix it. Hope I didn’t fuck it up too bad when I went down.”

“Shit, check your phones. Looks like we have multiple missed calls from the guys.” Diesel mentioned to the others as she pulled out her phone.

“Well, shit. Here comes the calvary now. Rut Roh, twenty bucks says the guys got a call about what was about to go down.” Pratt looked back over at her motorcycle as the SUV came to a quick halt by the suspect’s vehicle.

“Ever heard of answering your fucking phone?” Viper yelled at the women as he got out of the back of the SUV.

“Yeah, we were kind of busy, stud. We’re good now.” Diesel rolled her eyes at her husband.

“Are ye okay, lass?” Highlander ran over to his wife, looking her over.

“Yep. The bike is probably trashed. Hank, know a good mechanic for Harley’s?”

“Fuck the bike, Laura. Are ye okay?” Highlander growled out, annoyed that she was downplaying what just happened.

“Joe, I am fine. I promise you. I only have a couple of cuts and bruises. Nothing that won’t heal in a couple of days.” Pratt put her hand on Highlander’s cheek, trying to calm him down.

“Anyone else hurt?” Hank asked, looking the women over.

“No. We’re good. Pissed, but good. We clocked these two about two miles back. Figured he’d hit us, trying to run us off the road, but they decided to open fire instead. Got Red’s back tire. They couldn’t aim for shit, so we figure they are the low man on the totem pole. What had you guys in panic mode?” Diesel asked as she wrapped her arms around Viper, trying to calm him down.

“Warcloud called. Said Jace overheard Gabe give Iyei the order to deal with you four before you left the reservation. They are headed this way themselves.” Hank answered for the men as he walked over to Pratt’s motorcycle.

“York, get a pic of those two so we can send it to Oz and get an identification in case Gabe and them try to snowball Warcloud.” Pratt suggested to her teammate.

“On it!”

“Did you guys get in touch with Sgt. Brocard?” Pratt asked, looking over at Hank.

“Yeah. Everything has been set up. Did she give you any idea of the intel??” Hank asked, looking at them in shock at the news.

“No. Just said it was big enough to warrant Kap, Kermit and Texas to be sent with them.”

“Ugh, you need a shower, mister,” Raso quipped, looking over at her husband, waving a hand in front of her face.

“Thanks,” Marcus replied with a wink at his wife.

“Highlander, take the SUV on back to the house, get your wife home. I’ll make arrangements to have her motorcycle picked up and dealt with by one of my guys. I’ll have Warcloud bring me home.” Hank threw his keys at Highlander as he looked back to see the lights of two Tribal Police cars speeding their way.

“I’ll stay here with Hank. Rest of you head on out.” Diesel advised the others as she crossed her arms over her chest to watch the police cars head their way.

“I’ll stay here and catch a ride with my wife. I’ll catch you guys back at the house.”
