Chapter 11 No Escape
That night.
I played games with Older Brother for a bit.
Ready to head to bed.
Jiang Huai, eating pineapple on the side, coughed twice.
Our eyes met.
I understood the hint.
I didn't want to accept it.
So I dragged Older Brother into another round.
We played until deep into the night.
Older Brother gave up.
"Can't anymore. I'm out. If you want to keep playing, let Jiang Huai take over."
I was exhausted too.
But every minute I could delay counted.
I was genuinely scared to be alone with Jiang Huai.
I stood and grabbed his hand. "One more round, Older Brother. Please."
He shook me off. "No! I'm sleeping."
Jiang Huai spoke up. "You go sleep. I'll play with him."
He stressed the word play.
Older Brother nodded. "Play with Jiang Huai. When you're done, sleep with him. I'm locking my door."
With Older Brother gone.
I lost all hope.
Jiang Huai's voice came from behind.
"A You, come on. Time to play."
