Shadow Chapter 5 #2

“Then, about ten years ago, he started what is now his more lucrative business. They took their dogfighting idea and asked, why not start a human fight club? They don’t have to pay for permits, have a sanctioning body, or even have medical staff or rules.

If the fighter decided to kill his opponent, then so be it.

Due to the dogfights, they had the connections to attract the kind of people who want to watch and participate in this shit.

The kind who won’t go to the cops, no matter what, because it’ll incriminate them.

My family moves around, so no one catches on to where a fight is or when it's happening, in case a concerned citizen accidentally catches wind and calls the cops.

“If you’re not in their degenerate circle, then you’re out of luck.

No one has betrayed them, so the cops haven’t been a problem.

I don’t even know if they’ve ever landed on the law’s radar.

As evil as they are, Dad isn’t stupid. It’s thanks to him that they’ve never been caught.

If it were left to Uncle Jock, they’d be in prison.

Jace and Rome aren’t up to Dad’s level, but they’re not stupid.

“Wives, daughters, girlfriends, and mothers are all there to take care of the men and, if possible, to be used for more money. We have no value outside of that. I lied and told them I was going to college to become a nurse. They see a benefit to that job, not only from a financial standpoint, but also because I can patch up their dogs and fighters. Dad doesn’t just host the various fights.

My brothers have dogs that fight, and Dad has a fighter or two who compete.

“So, do you see now that you’re not getting an angel, someone pure and innocent, if you get together with me?

I’m the daughter of the devil. I’m tainted by association at the least. I understand if this changes things on your end.

You want someone you can be proud of. Hell, I’m a stripper, Braxton.

The fact you seem to be willing to overlook that astonishes me. ”

I grabbed her hands and held them firmly. I made sure she was looking at me.

“I want you to know that there is nothing wrong with what you do. You strip to take care of yourself, and now I know for other valid reasons. Most of the dancers the club employs do so for various reasons. My club and I don’t look down on them for that.

Secondly, this idea that you’re tarnished, unworthy, and dirty because of what your family does is utter fucking bullshit.

They aren’t you. You’re doing what you can to survive and find a way to escape.

That’s pure courage. You could be like Whitney and willing to submit for the rest of your life. ”

“But I did submit. I still am to a point. I pay them to let me have the freedom I have,” Aubrielle said, reminding me.

“You had to in the beginning. You were a kid with no one to help you. As you got older, you did it to survive until you found a way to get away. You’re even more of an angel than I thought.

You’re not less. Hell, what you just told me puts you even more out of my league.

You shouldn’t even want to consider tying yourself to a biker like me. ”

The last word was hardly out of my mouth before Aubrielle pulled her hands free of mine and lunged toward me.

Her freed hands hooked behind my neck, bringing me closer to her.

Our mouths met in a fiery kiss. Hot flashes of pure flames shot throughout my body and hit my cock.

It instantly started to stiffen. Aubrielle’s tongue and teeth got in on the fun. I eagerly returned the same.

I pressed her back, following her body with mine, until she was flat on her back and I was crouched over her.

Her legs fell apart when she tipped back, providing a cradle for my body.

I grunted when my expanding erection landed against her thinly covered pussy.

I slid myself up and down her cleft. A muffled whimper escaped her.

I knew I should back off before we ended up naked with me buried inside of her.

I wanted to make sure we’d covered everything we needed to discuss and that all questions and doubts were resolved.

That she was sure she wanted to commit to this with me.

Because once she let me have her, it was for good.

It was that thought that forced me to break the lip lock.

Aubrielle moaned and tried to force my mouth to hers, but I shook my head.

My crotch was still resting against hers.

She had her arms around my neck. The flush on her face made me want to make it brighter, but I held myself in check.

“We’re not done talking. I’ve just said that none of those things about your family matter to me.

However, we will have to discuss your family later for a different reason.

The question isn’t whether I still want you.

Do you still want me? Make sure of your answer.

If there’s even a sliver of doubt, tell me.

Because, Aubrielle, once you give yourself to me, that’s it.

You’re mine. The only thing I intend to part us is death.

There’ll be no breaking up, no divorce, or any of that shit.

We run into trouble, we work it out. The only thing that negates that for me is if you cheat on me or betray the club. ”

I left my words hanging there. She didn’t hesitate to answer.

“I’m sure, Braxton, if you are. I would never cheat on you. I can’t see a reason why I’d betray the club. You mentioned a divorce. Does that mean at some point you’ll want to get married?”

“It does. In the biker world, by claiming you as my old lady, you’re seen as my wife. However, for me, my club brothers, and fellow biker friends, we take it a step further and make it legal.

“As for the club, you need to know that we’re not one hundred percent angels.

If there’s cause to get our hands dirty for the safety of the club, our community, our families, or our friends, then we will.

You know what we did to those two men who tried to get on stage with you.

Sometimes, it could be things along that line.

A stern talking-to, or even a beating, to drive the seriousness home.

Other times, it can go much further. We don’t go around flexing our muscles and hurting people just because we’re bigger or because we feel like it.

There has to be an important reason. Protecting innocent people like you would qualify as such.

“That means we will need to tell the club about your family. Spawn will investigate. Shit like what they’re doing has to be stopped, babe.

It’s what we do. I’m surprised Spawn didn’t find this when he checked you out.

He conducts background checks on anyone hired by or close to the club.

Even though your family hasn’t been caught, so they’re not on the law’s radar, illegal dogfighting and a fight club have to be whispered about.

No one in Bristol has said anything. If they had, Spawn would bring it to everyone’s attention to see what we wanted to do about it.

We keep Bristol clean just as we protect our family and friends. ”

Aubrielle shook her head as she replied.

“They don’t live here in Bristol. I moved here, telling them that since it is a much bigger place and closer to my college, it made sense.

I was more likely to get a job here, and one that pays more.

I grew up outside of Big Stone Gap. It’s about sixty miles from here.

Close enough that they can still come and check on me.

They hold their fights throughout that area and farther north.

They purposefully avoid Bristol and other larger towns.

They hold the fights in old barns, abandoned buildings, garages, or in a field with a temporary fence or ring.

“I was told of the background check when Mayhem offered me the job. I was scared something might come up. I prayed it didn’t.

Or if it did, the club would understand that it was them, not me.

You need to know, I never wanted to be a stripper.

I came to audition because I needed to make more money.

My dad was hinting that he might demand that I return home to live.

I knew that if that happened, I’d never leave.

He complained I wasn’t bringing in as much money as he hoped.

If I didn’t spend it on an apartment and school, there’d be more for the family, which means him and my brothers, not me.

“I came to the tryout out of desperation and to prove something. I never thought I’d get the job.

Whitney told me she planned to audition and move here to live as I did.

She’s stripped in dives before, so she had experience.

Whitney egged me on to do it. She loves to pick on me and lord things over me.

I decided to do it just to shut her up for once.

By getting the job, I was able to send more money.

And since it’s kept increasing as my tips have, they’re happy to leave me here. ”

“What is your cousin doing? She was pretty pissed that she didn’t get the job,” I remarked.

“Oh, she was and still is. Thankfully, I don’t have to see her often.

Any time I do, she glares and makes cutting comments about how I stole her job, and she has no clue why anyone would want to watch me strip.

The last I heard, she’s stripping in one of those dives and doing stuff for the family, whatever that is. I don’t want to know.”

“Aubrielle, even when you had no experience, there was something naturally sensuous that drew people to want to watch you. The way you developed your costumes and routines has made you more sensual. You mesmerize people. I understand why you dance, but I’ll be honest. I can’t wait until you no longer do,” I confessed.

“I can’t wait either. I keep telling myself seven more months.” She smiled.
