Chapter 16

I always listen to my gut; it’s never steered me wrong. So, when dumbass one disappeared, I followed knowing he was probably up to something I needed to know about. Low and behold my gut was right again when I overheard his conversation with Elijah, there’s not a doubt in my mind that he’s trying to think of ways to keep me from assisting.

“I don’t know what you mean,”

Blaze huffs out, turning around to face me, avoiding eye contact with me at all costs. “Don’t play stupid, Blaze. I heard the whole conversation. So, you can either clue me in or I can call Elijah myself,” I snark. Blaze’s eyes pull down in frustration. “Look, I have a lot fucking riding on this.”

His eyes snap to mine and in the next second, he’s standing in front of me, his hazel eyes boring into my deep brown ones.

“Why don’t you tell me what exactly it is that demands you be involved in this and while you’re at it, why don’t you tell me how you know Elijah so well?”

His voice comes out deep, an edge of jealousy and possessiveness lacing his tone.

The way he’s acting sends a thrill through me, one I’ve never felt with anyone else.

“To answer your first question…It’s absolutely none of your goddamn business,”

I snarl. “Secondly.” I lean in, a teasing smile on my lips. “I know Elijah real good,” I whisper, making sure to deepen my voice at the end.

Elijah and I have never been romantic, but Blaze doesn’t need to know that. There’s something about the crazy look he seems to get in his eye whenever it concerns me, and I love to play with fire.

“Let me make this very fucking clear Cea,”

Blaze growls, his hand coming around my throat, pushing me back against the door. His face so close to mine, I can smell his minty breath blowing into my face.

I lick my lip before I catch myself and inhale deep when he starts to speak again. His hand squeezes slightly tighter, sending electricity to my core.

“You are fucking mine. The sooner you get that into your beautiful fucking head, the quicker your life will become easier,”

he says, his words dripping with venom, the kind of venom I want to drown in.

“You’re crazy. I’m not yours and my life has definitely never been easy,”

I say breathlessly.

“Well consider yourself fucking owned. If I have to, I’ll fucking tattoo my name on your fucking body so the whole world knows exactly who you belong too Mama. As far as your life never being easy…well better get ready baby, because I’m about to make all your dreams come true.”

Blaze gazes at my lips and I close my eyes as if it's the most natural thing in the world, waiting for him to press his mouth against mine. The pressure on my neck is gone and open my eyes to see I’m standing in the room alone. Speechless and wet. What the hell is this man doing to me?

Fuck Cea, get your shit together.

Blaze storms into the dining room, headed straight for the whiskey, skipping the glass and drinking straight from the bottle as I place the plates on the table, along with the steak and sides.

“Trouble in paradise?” I tease.

Blaze glowers at me, so I return his glower, staring him down.

Stomping toward me, bottle of whiskey still gripped in his hand, he grabs me by the back of the head, slamming his lips on mine. The kiss is full of need and I give in, allowing his tongue entrance, mingling it with mine.

He finally breaks away, leaning his forehead against mine. His breathing coming in heavy.

“You two are going to be the death of me,”

he says in a low whisper, exhaustion lacing his words.

I bring my hand up to cup his cheek, rubbing my thumb back and forth over his bottom lip. “You’ve survived worse.”

A sad smile forms, his eyes meeting mine. “Yeah…yeah I have.”

“Sorry boys, am I interrupting?”

Cea says, coming into the room, instantly annoying me. Yes you’re interrupting. My entire life actually! She stands across from us, arms once again folded across her chest, her facial expression telling us she would kill us with just one look if she could.

“Yeah…why don’t you see your way out so we can eat in peace,” I growl.

“I would gladly, but me and shithead got work to do,”

she snaps.

My eyes snap to Blaze, guilt and a sheepish grin on full display.

“What work?”

I questioned, my heart aching. “More importantly, why the hell do you have to work with her?” Her!

“We have a mutual client we’re doing some work for…he needs both of our skill set, apparently,”

he says. He takes one more swig from the bottle, then places it on the dining room table.

“What kind of skills, other than pouring a drink, could she fucking offer?” I scoff.

Cea immediately gets in my face, “Listen here pretty boy, you may have forced your way into my pants the other night, but don’t you damn well stand there and act like you know me. You don’t have a fucking clue,”

she says aggressively, her eyes full of fire. My cock twitches, but I immediately make myself focus on the current topic.

“Oh baby,”

I say, getting so close to her, our noses touch. “You can say a lot of things, but let's not pretend you didn’t enjoy every second of what I supposedly ‘forced’ you into the other night. That pretty cunt was crying for me, begging for more by the end of the night.” I slowly trace my finger down her cheek, causing her to curl her lips in a sneer. “In fact, I bet if I was to slip my hand down your pants right now and sink my thick fingers into your tight pussy, I’d pull them out dripping.” Flicking my tongue out, I lick her lips, before I pull back.

I scour her body, her thighs clenched together, doing everything they can to dissipate the ache I know I just put there. I smirk at her, happy to be ruining her life. and A sharp sting hits me in the side of my face, my head snapping to the side. I hear the muttered words ‘asshole’ slightly and the heels of Cea’s boots clicking against the hardwood floor as she exits.

“You two have really got to figure your shit out sooner, rather than later,”

Blaze laughs, following after her.

Not if I can get her to leave.
