Sinful Obsession - Bonus 2
VIOLET
I thought I could handle anything.
But seeing her .
It fucked with me.
She saw things, saw me at my absolute lowest. Out of respect for Blair, I didn’t kill her on sight.
And I guess, because in a different way, she’d been abused to. They’d made her watch until she snapped and then I never saw her again.
Not long after, Lucia stormed into my world and I got my second chance.
Family.
Friendship.
The love of my life.
People who see me.
I sighed and pulled the blanket higher, curling into myself to keep from crying.
You aren’t there anymore, Violet.
You aren’t there…
You aren’t…
You…
I stifled my sobs, not wanting to wake Finnegan. But he’d heard them anyway and before I knew it, his entire body enveloped mine.
“This was long overdue,” he whispered, making me cry harder. “Let it out, moonlight.”
Had I never cried about this before?
I couldn’t remember.
It was always about revenge, then I got it ten times over, and now…
“I’m here. I got you.”
Now, I guess it was about healing and finally letting go. There were no more demons for me to find and slay, none of my own at least.
I turned against Finn and buried my face in his chest. Inhaling him until my heart settled and the tears stopped falling.
“You feel better, baby?”
Much better , I thought.
But instead of saying that, I lifted my head and kissed him. He leaned back and searched my eyes.
“What was that for?”
“Since when have I needed a reason to kiss my man?”
He shook his head and smiled, tugging my head back to his chest.
“Never, moonlight” he replied softly. “Let’s go back to sleep.”
It was the middle of the day. We’d had a lot of long nights since our wedding day, but Finnegan refused to leave New York until Sean was good.
He loved his brother deeply. And now that a lot of the loose ends had been clipped and Sunday service had come and gone, we were heading back into Philly later tonight with Cian, Gianna and Rían.
Anessa decided to stay with her sisters and I wasn’t surprised. She’d only wanted to go to Philly to get away from Landell.
“Okay,” I muttered, getting comfortable against him. “I could sleep more.”
Our attempt was short lived when my secure phone began to ring. Finnegan refused to release me and I decided to let him have his way until mine stopped and his started.
Grumbling, he rolled over and reached for it.
“Fuck do you want?” he asked, pulling the phone away from his ear after hearing the voice on the other line. “Aye. You really pushing it, Everwood.”
I chuckled.
The man was relentless is what he was.
It was clear Demetrius Cannon, who Lucia learned they called Echo from where he’s from, was playing chess.
He really wanted whatever The Collective had so called taken from him. But I wasn’t doing any jobs without every detail laid out to me and I meant that shit.
I sat up and held my hand out, then patted my leg for Finn to lay on it after he handed it over.
I waited until he obliged before addressing the man on the phone.
“Agitating my husband will only make me want to kill you,” I mused, stroking Finn’s arm. “Do you want my help or do you want to die?”
He chuckled.
“I like you Violet,” he replied nonchalantly. “Agitating your husband is not my intention. I want to work with you.”
I hummed but didn’t say anything; he knew exactly what I needed to hear to agree.
“What I’m about to tell you, can’t be repeated to anybody, except your husband since I know he’s listening,” he said after a long bout of silence. “Not until I get what I want.”
Then, without waiting for me to respond, he launched into the details. By the end, even Finn was sitting up with his face twisted.
“The fuck,” my husband said, taking the phone. “I’ll put her on the road myself when it’s time.”
I was shocked but it made me smile.
They exchanged more words and then Finn dropped the phone and looked at me.
“Put me on the road yourself, huh?”
He nodded.
“You know I’d do anything for you, right?”
I nodded and crawled into his lap, straddling him and securing my legs around his waist.
“Of course, I know that.”
He kissed my forehead, nose and lips before saying, “Good. Because I wish a muthafucka would.”
And I knew he meant it.
Guess I was heading to Everwood soon.
