Chapter Twenty-Four

Ryker

Today's appointment is going to be awkward as hell for me. I’m not going to be able to stop analyzing Dr. Thornton. I just hope she doesn’t notice my demeanor changing. Damon is dead set on her being Sarah and I’m surprised we haven’t taken her yet. When Damon sees something he wants, he gets it.

“Mr. Sinclair,” a nurse calls out. I hate being called by my last name; it reminds me of my father. I stand and follow her back. “Dr. Thornton is running a bit late, but she will be in any moment. Make yourself comfortable,” she offers.

I sit on the couch and wait for the nurse to leave. This is the best time to get to know more about Dr. Thornton. I walk behind her desk and look at her diplomas hung up on the wall. It's crazy to compare her and Damon and know they came from the same background.

“See anything interesting?” she asks from the doorway. I didn’t even hear the door open.

I twirl around and am taken away by how radiant she is today. I don’t know if it's because I know she is Sarah or something else. She holds herself differently than last week. “Sorry, I was just waiting for you and figured I would get to know you better,” I shrug .

“Isn’t it my job to get to know you,” she raises her

eyebrow and smiles. She is glowing and it’s taking everything in me not to grab her by the throat and kiss her lips. To twirl her around and to bend her over her desk. “Ryker?” she says. I must have gotten lost in my daydream.

“Sorry, I have a lot on my mind today.” I walk back

over to the couch and sit down. She takes the chair across from me and crosses her legs. I sit on my hands to hit my fidgeting. The image of leaning forward and running my hand on her smooth legs under her skirt filters through my mind.

“Do you want to talk about it?” she asks. I want to talk about a lot of things with her. I want to know more about her, but I also don’t want to push it and tip her off. Sawyer gave Damon the green light to get her after my appointment, but I’m not sure it’s a good idea. There has to be a reason she changed her name and started a completely different life.

“Do you ever wish you could be someone else? Like

disappear and start over as someone else?” I ask hesitantly. She looks me straight in the eyes and I melt into the couch. Her gaze is like looking into the ocean and feeling like you're surrounded by water with nothing to save you from drowning.

“No, I quite like my life. Why do you want to be

someone else, Ryker?” she pauses “Who would you be if there were no consequences?” she asks. I take a moment to think about her question. I don’t think I would want to be anyone else besides who I am now. I was hiding my true self until I met the guys and now I can be free and let myself out. The only thing I would change or do if there were no consequences would be to give my father a taste of his own medicine .

“I like who I am now. It took a while to get here, but I finally feel at home in my skin,” I admit.

“Have you come to terms with Riley?” she asks. I can't gauge her emotions and it puts me on edge. She’s good at staying stagnant. There's something mysterious and I think that is what is keeping me from being on board with kidnapping her. I know the guys are right and that she wouldn’t come with us if we came out and asked, but kidnapping may raise more suspicion than we need.

“Not completely, but I’ll get there,” I smile quickly and sit there waiting for her to ask another question. I try not to show how nervous I am, but I don’t think I’m as good as she is at hiding my emotions.

“Is everything alright? You seem on edge,” she scoots forward and her breasts push together in her blouse. There is no way this woman can be this perfect.

“I just have a lot of pressure from my father, that’s all.” I cross my legs so she can't see my semi pushing against my jeans. I don’t know why I’m so much more attracted to her this session than I was last week. I only know a little bit about her but I want to know more, so much more.

“Parents can be tricky,” she looks down at her notepad.

“Are your parents like that?” I ask. She looks up

through her lashes and it’s the most menacing look I’ve ever seen from a woman.

“I don’t have parents. They died when I was young,” she sits back in her seat. “But enough about me. This time is for you to be able to talk about anything you’d like.”

“What if I don’t want to talk? ”

She shrugs. “Like I said last week, I still get paid

regardless. So talking is up to you Ryker.” The way she says my name makes my cock hard. It's getting harder to control my curiosity about her. I want to know her body, what makes her tick and all the sweet spots to put my mouth to. “I’d suggest you stop undressing me with your eyes if you want to sit in silence,” she adds.

I cough, acting as if I’m clearing my throat. “I’m sorry,” I say sincerely.

“So you admit that you were?” she smirks. I don’t know what to say so I sit in silence. The guys are outside waiting for my session to be done. I was hoping to find out more to give to them when I left. There's a knock on the door and Dr. Thornton gets up to open it to tell whoever it is that she is busy.

A familiar face stands on the other side and I notice the annoyance on her face. “Hey, can we talk about Friday? I’m really sorry about,” she cuts Epson off and opens the door more so he can see me. “Oh you're busy, I’ll come back later.” She nods and closes the door in his face.

“Sorry about that,” she blinks and her expression changes again.

“Whatever happened Friday must have been bad

judging by his face,” I say. She sits back in the chair and smiles at me.

“Are you training to become a therapist?” she asks.

“No I just can read peoples body language is all,” I shrug.

“Is that so? What do you read about me?” She asks curiously. I tilt my head to the side and try to choose my words wisely.

“You’re a very strong and independent person. Even though you’re a therapist, you don’t like when people show emotion. Judging by your lack of emotions. Maybe you're an introvert and prefer your time alone than surrounded by people who are most likely lying to your face about who they are anyway,” I stop to look at her face and see the first flicker of emotion.

“Interesting observation Mr. Sin,” I cut her off.

“Ryker, please don’t call me Mr. Sinclair, it reminds me of my father,” I explain.

“So you assume all of that just by meeting with me two times?” she asks. I can't tell her that I've found out other details from Sawyer.

“I guess so,” I shrug. She smirks and then the timer goes off letting us know our time is up. Hours goes by fast when you're in this room.

“Would you look at that, our time is up already.” She

places her papers on her desk and walks me to the door. As she opens it, Epson is standing across the hall waiting. “Here let me walk you out,” she offers. I was hoping she would follow me outside. We can’t take her in daylight, but the more time I get with her before we take her the better. I don’t see her taking too kindly to being kidnapped.

“That guy is very persistent,” I say as we walk through the waiting area.

“Dr. Epson? He's more like a pest that you can’t get rid of,” she jokes. If only she knew that she won’t have to deal with him soon. I'll kill him tonight if I have to.

“He likes you, I can tell.”

“Another one of your body language readings?” she laughs. I stop in my tracks and look at her. Truly look at her and my heart picks up its pace. I think I just fell in love. The sun moves behind a cloud and the sky darkens. I can spot the car from the corner of my eye. “Well I better get back inside before he follows me out here,” she places her hand on my shoulder. “Thanks for letting me use you as a distraction,” she smiles and walks back into the building.

I descend the stairs in front of the building and walk to the car. All the guys turn toward me and wait for me to tell them what happened during my session.

“So?” Damon asks.

“I think I’ve found my dream girl,” I joke.

“Jesus Christ,” Matteo says next to me. Sawyer laughs and Damon rolls his eyes.

“I didn’t find out anything new, but that Epson guy really is a piece of work.”

“Did he do something to her?” Damon asks.

“Besides being a pain in her ass, I don’t know. She

seems to not like him much,” I explain.

“Then we know the first thing to do when we get her,” Sawyer says.

“Fuck yeah,” Matteo cheers.
