Week 9

The great crested grebes carry their young on their backs, both parents playing their part.

The young are striped and look like miniature fairground zebras gliding across the water.

Other birds are more independent, and the young avocets are able to feed themselves as soon as they are hatched.

For now, migration is over, and the birds are staying.

Until the weather and winds change, and then they will be off once more.
