Epilogue
Ana?s
Eyes up, lights out, and just keep watching echoes around the garage as the race starts and I have never felt the buzz like I am now.
Seventy-eight laps and we only have two to go.
We’re all watching the Monaco race from the garages, and my heart is in my throat.
Royce fucking Lexington is leading the race, and with two laps to go, it seems that the podium is as good as his.
Nora clings onto me, Rue is watching all wide eyed as her man races the best he ever has.
Never did I think I would see him cross the line a winner, but he is about to prove me wrong, eradicating any doubt I once had.
“He is going to do it,” Nora whispers and I shush her.
“Don’t jinx it, a lot can still happen.” My eyes are glued to the screen, headphones tucked over our ears as we listen in.
“After pushing race after race, I think we can all agree that no other driver deserves this podium more than Royce Lexington and now here, in Monaco, is he going to claim his first ever win. Listen to that crowd, listen to the cheers, I don’t know about you, Marcel, but I am buzzing to have witnessed him blossom into the driver he is today.
Following in his father’s footsteps, he is the one to watch and here we have it, Royce Lexington wins the Monaco Grand Prix! ”
The garage runs out, climbing the fence as they cheer and fist pump the air at their driver crossing the line, and the roars echo.
“Well done, Royce. What a race, what a drive. I think it’s safe to say we will all be celebrating tonight, son.” Creed’s tight voice cracks over the radio, and I ditch my headphones the same time as Rue. She runs to Royce, but me, I run to him.
The man who stole my heart, wrapping it up safe until I was ready to fall in love again.
I adored him with every fibre of my soul. He fixed every broken piece of me, and I fixed him right back.
Jumping into his arms, he squeezes me tight, kissing me as if it was our last kiss. I nod at him, a wide smile on my face before he places my feet on the floor as he runs to his son.
I got everything I had ever wished for.
Someone who loved me with all they had.
Someone who gave me every piece of them.
My hand rests on my stomach, my head dropping and my chest blooms.
He gave me everything, and I have never been more grateful than I am now.
He gave me my happily ever after.
He gave me infinity.
