Chapter 10

CHAPTER TEN

Genevieve

Every day with Michel makes me happy. Céline says that we’re in the love-bubble stage and I don’t disagree.

I wish we could stay like this forever. Last week, my family had to go back home and I miss them already.

Last week, I also went back to school, it’s been a little nerve wracking.

Knowing what we know about Julian, we’re worried that he could try to ambush me at school. But so far, he’s stayed away.

Julian: Okay, I’m tired of this game you’re playing. It’s time for you to come home

I frown at my phone.

“You okay?” Seraphina asks.

I show her my phone.

“Ah fuck. We were all hoping he had really given up.”

She pulls out her phone and sends a text.

“I’m letting the others know he’s texting you.”

“Should I answer him?”

“No. We just need to keep an eye out, I have a bad feeling.”

Julian: STOP IGNORING ME, GENEVIEVE. YOU NEED TO ANSWER ME OR YOU’LL BE SORRY

“Fuck,” Adonis says as he gets on his phone.

“Abigail should’ve been back from her break already. She’s never late.”

“Are you sure?” Seraphina asks.

“Yes. She’s never late, she told me once that being on time was the one thing she always did.”

Seraphina: Michel, is it possible to get the next shift in now? Abigail’s not back and Adonis and I don’t feel good about this situation. Something’s wrong

Michel: Yeah, I’ll send down two replacement workers. Carl and Madison

Seraphina: Okay, after they get here, we’ll head up to Sebastiano’s room. They’ve found out some information too

Michel: Is Genevieve okay?

Seraphina: She’s okay. Scared, but okay. We’ll see you in a few

Ten minutes later, Carl and Madison show up to relieve me.

Abigail still hasn’t come back and now I’m really worried about why she hasn’t.

We make our way to the elevators. Before the doors can close, Julian hits Adonis on the back of the head and he drops to the ground.

Then Randall joins him, stepping inside the elevator and they both point a gun at me and Seraphina.

“Don’t be a hero,” he says to her.

Julian presses the button for the tenth floor.

“Why are you doing this?” I ask him, trying to keep the fear out of my voice.

“Because I told you when you got here, you’re mine. And if you’ve decided you’re not? Then you’ll die. I told you I would never give you up.”

I look at Seraphina, I’m worried about Adonis.

They kicked him out of the elevator after Julian hit him.

I really hope he’s okay. Seraphina doesn’t look scared, but she does look worried.

I wonder if she can shift and bite them?

If I remember correctly, her venom would kill them within thirty minutes.

We get off the elevator and they push us towards a room, their guns are still pointed at our heads. When we get into the room, I see a body laying on the floor.

“You made us do that,” Randall snarls at me as he points to the body.

It takes me a few seconds to realize it’s Abigail. And I can’t help the tears that are falling. Maybe she’s still alive. Please be alive.

Michel

Genevieve has gone back to school and Adonis complains every night about how boring her classes are.

It’s hilarious. I’ve finally convinced Genevieve to move in with me and my family.

And I keep telling her that she doesn’t have to keep working.

But she insists that she does, so now she works the evening and night shifts.

I’ve also switched my work hours so that I can be at the hotel when she’s working.

When I get the text from Seraphina, I grab Carl and Madison to fill in until the next shift comes in.

They’re part of my security team, but they’ve been trained to help with the front desk.

I hate this feeling of dread that’s come over me.

I head up to Sebastiano’s room. As I walk in, I scan the room, but I don’t see my Genevieve.

“They’re on their way up,” Francesco says to me.

I nod, but I’m still worried.

“Maybe I should head down and meet them?”

“No, stay here. If Julian’s around, I don’t want us separated. The rest of the family’s on their way here.”

“But if he’s around, I’m worried about Genevieve.” I frown.

Just as he’s about to answer, Enea and Giacomo come in. Adonis is following them, blood dripping from his head. And now I’m panicking.

“Who did this?” Zeus asks as he grabs the first aid kit.

“Julian and Randall. They came up behind me and hit me. I’m going to fucking eat them,” Adonis snarls.

“We need to get back down there and find them. I can check the security cameras. We have them in the elevators and hallways.”

“Adonis, Eros, Apollo, Zeus and I will go with you,” Giacomo says to me.

“When you find out, I’ll meet you wherever they went,” Enea says to him.

I lead them to the security room and we find the footage we need. We watch them get onto the elevator and then we see Julian hit Adonis. Then we watch them point their guns at my Genevieve and Seraphina. I’m going to kill him with my own two hands.

We watch them get off on the tenth floor and they go into room ten-fifteen. How the fuck did they get a room without us knowing?

“Let’s get back upstairs so we can formulate a plan. I don’t like going into situations like this without a plan,” Giacomo says to us.

We all agree and head back up. My body feels like it’s vibrating. Julian had a gun to my Genevieve’s head and he’s going to fucking pay for that. I don’t care what anyone says. As soon as we step back into the room, I look at everyone.

“I need to be in on this. I can’t wait here or stand on the side and watch. That fucker took my woman and he needs to pay.”

“I understand why you feel you need to be there. But you have to understand that we’re used to this. You’re not,” Enea says to me.

“Are you saying I’ll be in the way?” I frown.

“Not at all. I’m saying that we can anticipate what each other will do. And Genevieve will need you when this is over. If something were to happen to you, who will take care of her?”

Why does he have to make sense? Fuck.
