Chapter 11
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Michel
“Panagiotis, Eros, Adonis, Apollo and I should be the ones at the door first. If they shoot, we can survive that,” Zeus says.
“I agree. But I should shift, I would suggest one of you too, but I doubt you’ll fit in the hallway or the room.”
Zeus laughs. “One downfall of being a polar bear.”
“When this is over and everyone’s safe, I really want to see your polar bears,” I say to them.
“We can arrange that.” Zeus smiles. “Now let’s go get Genevieve and Seraphina.”
“Am I really supposed to wait here?” I grumble at them.
“I mean, we can use the company.” Sebastiano squints at me as he’s tapping into our security system.
I watch them work and I realize I need to learn some things from them. Sebastiano and Francesco are getting the monitors up with the footage from the elevators and the hallway. I see the others getting ear pieces in.
“Intercoms. This is how we make sure we’re all safe,” Enea says to me.
“Okay, we all know what we’re doing, right?” Giacomo asks.
Everyone nods.
“Let’s go. Let us know when you see us on camera,” Enea says to Sebastiano.
“I got you, Papà.”
They leave and I pray that they’re all okay. Especially my mon rêve.
Genevieve
“Get on the fucking bed,” Julian snarls at me as he shoves me. He ties my hands and feet to the posts.
“I-Is Abigail dead?” I ask him.
“She will be. I wanted you to watch, it’s fun to see how much people will beg for their lives,” Randall laughs.
Holy shit, he’s batshit crazy. I look at Julian and he’s smiling too. How the hell did I ever think I was in love with him? I can see Seraphina slowly moving away from them. I try to keep their focus on me, because by the look on her face? She’s planning something.
“Why would you take Abigail? And please untie me, you said you’d never hurt me and this is hurting me.”
“That bitch saw us. People who see us can’t be allowed to live.” Randall shrugs.
“When did she see you? I don’t think she even knows who you are.”
“Of course she knows who we are. Everyone knows who we are.”
What the fuck is he talking about? And why is Julian just standing there? I stare at him as he looks at me and sighs.
“I wish it hadn’t come to this, Gen. I love you so much and I had finally gotten Randall to agree that we would keep you.
I mean I’d have to share you with him, but that was okay.
Because he promised not to kill you. But then you had to come home early.
Why did you do that? If you had just stayed with me, none of this would be happening right now. ”
“Why would I have stayed? You betrayed me.”
“I told you it was an accident. You should’ve just stayed and talked to me instead of walking out.”
I’m trying to to laugh, but is he really that delusional? That cheating on me was an accident? I’m trying to figure out what to say to that, but I just can’t.
“Where the fuck did that other chick go?” Randall asks as he’s looking around the room.
From my angle on the bed, I can’t see where Seraphina went. But all of a sudden, Randall screams.
“SOMETHING BIT ME!” he says as he’s yelling and jumping around. “It’s a snake! Shoot it!”
The gunshots are so loud, my ears are ringing.
And I’m praying that none of their bullets have hit Seraphina.
Because I’m pretty sure what bit him is her snake.
I can’t help smiling as I watch them. This means Randall’s going to die, I remember Apollo saying that Seraphina’s venom can kill a regular person in thirty minutes if they don’t get help.
And I’m sure as fuck not going to give him any help.
The next thing I see is a snake flying through the air and latching onto Julian's arm. He’s now screaming and trying to yank her off of him. But she’s got her fangs in him pretty deep. I look over at Randall and he’s trying to aim at Seraphina.
“Don’t shoot, you asshole! You’re going to hit me,” Julian yells at his brother.
“I won’t hit you, you pussy. Stop moving and I’ll get that fucking schnake.”
He’s starting to slur his words, I’m not sure if either of them is noticing that.
I can see now why Apollo is afraid to be nibbled on.
All of a sudden, the door bursts open and the first thing I see is a white tiger leaping into the room and pinning Julian down.
The terror on his face is making me smile.
Seraphina goes over to Apollo and wraps herself around him.
“Hi, my love. Did you have fun?” He smiles at her as she flicks her tongue at him.
Enea comes over to me and unties me from the bed.
“Are you okay?” he asks me.
“I’m okay. Everything happened so fast. Are Randall and Julian going to die? Is Abigail okay?” I blurt out.
Enea chuckles as he helps me sit up.
“We’ve called an ambulance for Abigail. She’s breathing, but I’m not a doctor, so I can’t tell you if she’s going to be okay. As for Randall and Julian? It depends on what they were injected with when Seraphina bit them.”
“I thought her venom was lethal?”
“You’ll have to talk to her about that.”
We see Seraphina come out of the bathroom, she goes straight for Apollo and I watch him embrace her. I wish Michel was here. I can’t wait to be in his arms.
“Those to scumbags will need to be looked at. I was going to take care of them, but I thought you’d want to do it,” she says to Enea.
“Do they need an anti-venom?” he asks her.
“No, I mixed what I did. They won’t die, but they will get really, really sick.”
We look over to the brothers and they’re both throwing up on the floor. And I’m pretty sure they’ve both shit themselves.
“That’s gross,” Adonis says as he looks like he’s going to be sick too.
“Let’s get them out of here. We rented a storage locker. We’ll keep them there and then take them back to Lake Renegade.”
“Wait, we need something to put them in because I’m not touching them. They’ve shit and puked all over themselves,” Eros says as he’s holding his breath.
“I texted Michel and asked him to bring us a laundry cart.”
“What about their jobs?” I ask.
“Salvatore is taking care of that for us,” Giacomo answers.
I’m figuring out that there’s even more to the Lake Renegade family than what they’ve let me in on.
I slowly get up off the bed, my ankles and arms are sore from being tied up.
All of a sudden I’m in Michel’s arms and I start sobbing.
I was fine until he touched me and now all the emotions I was holding back come flooding out.
“I’m so glad you’re okay. Did he hurt you?”
“No. He tied me up, but he didn’t touch me,” I say as I look up and kiss him.
Michel holds me tighter as we watch the brothers get loaded into the laundry cart and taken out.
“That smell is something I won’t forget for a while,” Eros says as he makes puking noises.
“Right? And this is why your snake will never nibble me,” Apollo says to Seraphina as she pouts at him.
