Chapter 10 Confronting Shen Yining
"I miss you."
Lu Xiao lets out a light laugh, as if hearing a joke.
"Isn't our act finished?"
Shen Yining freezes, then bursts into anger.
"Lu Xiao, what do you mean? Is everything between us just acting? The filming ends and we're done?"
Lu Xiao purses his lips, neither confirming nor denying.
"What else could it be? Could it actually be real?"
"Shen Yining, I'm not that stupid. How could I date a woman from the circle?"
"How you climbed up may be unknown outside, but inside the circle, it is never a secret."
Shen Yining looks stunned as Lu Xiao turns against her so suddenly.
Right in front of so many people.
Her face flushes red. She cannot back down. As she bites her lip and glances around, she spots me at the back of the crowd going over accounts with the crew.
"You?"
Shen Yining strides straight toward me.
She hums with sudden realization and stands right in front of me.
The accountant asks in confusion.
"Miss Su, do you know each other?"
Shen Yining speaks first.
"What Miss Su? Just a helper. Don't think I don't know. You're Lu Xiao's ex-girlfriend. I saw your little moves as soon as you joined the crew."
"You're such a follower, trailing here to this crew again? Handing out lunch boxes this time? Or handling the lights?"
"No wonder Lu Xiao flipped on me. It is you, you bitch, stirring things up."
"Take a look at yourself. No status and no looks. What right do you have to hog Lu Xiao?"
Nearby crew members exchange shocked glances.
The Director rushes over, panting heavily.
"Where did this idiot come from? How dare you speak to our Investor Representative like that?"
"Where are the security people? Letting any cat or dog in. Don't you want your wages anymore?"
"Lu Xiao, trouble from you again. I must have the worst luck, casting a guy like you who fails at everything but causes problems first."
Shen Yining's mouth suddenly stops, as if paused.
She stares at the Director in shock, her eyes frozen for seconds, unable to react.
The Director recognizes her and pulls out his phone.
"It's you. I know your company. Daring to offend my Investor Representative, I will call your boss now."
Shen Yining panics.
She trembles and apologizes.
"Director, I was wrong. Please don't tell my company. I... I sneaked out today. If they know, they won't forgive me."
The Director sees her crying pitifully.
Shen Yining pulls his arm with her small hands, shaking it while begging coquettishly.
His expression sinks. He coughs lightly.
"Apologizing to me is useless. You need to make our Investor Representative happy first."
Shen Yining turns to look at me with a troubled face. She continues shaking the Director unwillingly.
"She, she is really the Investor Representative? I remember..."
"Stop. I don't care about before. I only care about now. Miss Su is my Investor Representative, the client I must serve well."
"Shen Yining, you have been in the industry for a while. In our line, identities flip all the time. If you don't even realize this, how can you keep going?"
