Chapter 7 Tears in the Dark
No lights in the room. Moonlight was pale.
Wen Yu rasped.
"Get out."
I rolled.
Clutching his meds, I rolled to his feet.
Looked up at him.
Wen Yu was crying.
I knelt, licked his tears. They were salty.
His pupils shrank. Voice hoarse.
"Get out."
His hand pressed my neck, pushing me.
I held out my palm with white pills.
"Eat these and I'll go."
I lied. Even if he ate, I wouldn't.
I pulled his head to my chest, comforting clumsily.
"Puppy will never abandon Wen Yu."
"With Puppy..."
Wen Yu was a delicate flower needing guard.
My neck was in his grip. His eyes looked wild, like he was about to break.
I dropped all defenses, didn't struggle, just watched him quietly.
Air faded bit by bit. His cool fingertips warmed against me.
The instant his hand loosened, I coughed hard.
Face turned red.
Wen Yu hugged me. He shook.
His tears flowed into my neck hollow.
Wen Yu's tears soaked into me, straight to my heart.
What connected us was his tears.
