Chapter 6 Grandpa’s House
We didn't go back to the Wen Family.
We went to Wen Yu's Grandpa's place.
Grandpa's house was huge, like the Wen Family.
Grandpa looked at me like he wanted to say something, then rubbed my head.
"Good kid."
I overheard servants gossip.
Wen Yu's parents were childhood sweethearts from rich families. Married, they had a sweet life at first.
The year Wen Yu was born, Wen Family business tanked. Wen Yu's mom used her dowry to save it.
Then the drama: Wen Family boomed, Wen Yu's dad cheated.
Wen Family grew huge. The mistress and bastard wanted status.
Everyone knew they gassed Wen Yu's mom to death, but no proof.
Heart attack. Checks done.
Dinner was just me and Grandpa. Wen Yu skipped it.
He ate little, but I ate a lot.
I needed to grow big and strong to protect Wen Yu.
He got bullied too easy.
Crowds waited outside Wen Yu's door: doctors, butler, servants.
Wen Yu wouldn't take meds or eat. No one dared enter.
But I did.
I was Wen Yu's Stray Dog.
My duty was to protect him.
