Chapter 10 Sneaky Payback
During break, Wen Yu tutored me. His voice was so gentle.
Every time he started explaining, I fell asleep.
Then I'd hear a soft sigh.
His cool hand landed on my cheek.
It felt good. I hugged it close and dreamed beautifully.
I liked learning fight moves from the bodyguards downstairs.
That kept me awake and excited.
When school started again, I stopped clashing with Wen Qi head-on.

Wen Qi packed up and yelled at me.

I went out. He flinched again.
He yelled at me.
"Xun Ye, Wen Yu keeps you like a dog. Don't get cocky."
"Wen Yu doesn't like you anyway. Plenty of others he likes."
In class, Wen Yu did problems. His face looked like a painting.
Girls' gifts piled on his desk corner.
He noticed my stare, turned, and smiled at me.
His smoky eyes smiled back at me.
For the first time, Wen Qi's words didn't sound so bad.
Being Wen Yu's dog was my honor.
Everyone liked Wen Yu. It was natural.
Whether he liked me back, I knew.
I advised him seriously.
"If your brain's bad, get it fixed. While you're young."
After school, I dumped all the gift boxes from Wen Yu's desk into the trash.
