107. An Aftermath

An Aftermath

Nyx had already wrapped the sky in her cloak

by the time we returned to Asteria’s parents’ palace.

The silence in those halls as we walked them

was as haunting as a siren’s song.

Every step we took echoed

as though a thousand voices sang.

Pallas held my hand and I realized

I was trembling.

Was this fear? Was this anger?

When we reached the doors of Coeus’s chambers,

we heard the voices of Coeus and Leto within.

Quickly pushing the doors open,

we went into the unknown.
