Chapter 12 The Mistake

At the end of the month, two college roommates came to Beijing for business.

We hadn’t seen each other since graduation—everyone scattered across the country. Rare chance to meet.

I booked the best hot-spring hotel, ordered their signature sake.

None of us could hold liquor well. Two bottles in, we were already dizzy.

Why was it so hot?

At first we thought it was the springs, but the manager rushed in, apologizing profusely.

Wrong sake delivered—the kind meant to “enhance the mood.”

“Just… take care of it yourselves and the effects will pass. Tonight is on the house.”

We stared at each other, then awkwardly returned to our rooms.

The drug hit hard. My mind turned to mush.

I stumbled to my door.

It opened from inside.

Ji Chengzhou’s handsome face appeared.

“How much did you drink?” He caught me as I nearly fell and closed the door.

“Why are you here?”

“I visited Mom and Dad. The driver said you were here with friends, so I brought you clothes.”

A small bag sat on the stool—clothes inside.

I nodded vaguely and pushed past him toward the bathroom.

I was burning up. The sake had turned to fire inside me.

He followed me in. “What’s wrong?”

“Wrong sake. They spiked it with something.”

“I’ll help.”

He pulled me close without waiting for an answer.

We tried for ages. Skin nearly broken. Nothing worked.

I swore.

He glanced down, then suddenly knelt.

I startled. “What are you doing?”

“Helping.”

His head lowered.

“No—”

I couldn’t push him away fast enough. Pleasure hit harder. My hands ended up gripping his hair instead.

Afterward, reason returned.

I realized what had just happened.

Panic surged.

I shoved him away hard.

Caught off guard, Ji Chengzhou fell backward, forehead hitting the counter. Blood trickled down.

His mouth was still stained. His face—shock, but mostly hurt.

“I… I’m sorry. I didn’t… I didn’t mean to.”

I stammered apologies and bolted.

Before I left, I glanced back.

He stayed on the floor, head down, expression hidden.
