Chapter 20 Briar

Briar

The night of the reunion swings around, and life couldn’t be more perfect with Daisy.

Just perhaps things can look up for us, and we can put our past behind us. For one, I plan to woo her the moment we arrive at the venue.

Ash and I walk up the steps to her cabin, and just before we knock at the door, we meet each other’s eyes.

“Are you ready?” I ask my shy twin brother.

He sucks in a breath. We’re both suited up in a pair of tuxedos for the occasion.

Only the best for Daisy.

“Yes… You?”

I nod, placing a hand on my arm. I’m wearing a nicotine patch. Daisy is just the kind of girl who makes you want to quit smoking.

Ash knocks. It’s Noelle who answers. She’s wearing a purple dress, placing her hand on her hip as she narrows her eyes at us.

I hear she helped Daisy out today with her dress.

Ash fumbles when he sees her. “Oh… hello, cuz…”

He’s scared of her. He always was.

She rolls her eyes, dragging us inside. “Just get in here. She’s almost ready.”

We step inside. Shepard and Frost are already here, seated on the couch. If only they knew what we all got up to inside this cabin the other night.

Shepard smirks when he sees me, and perhaps he knows at least. “Looking sharp, Thorn. Nervous?”

I scoff. “No.”

“Liar,” Frost sneers, glancing up at me and Ash. “Admit it. You’re shitting bricks.”

I deadpan the asshole, but he only laughs harder, chucking back his drink. He hasn’t changed since we were kids. Always with the teasing and the taunting.

Maybe it’s best Rowan isn’t here, after all. He and Frost would be at each other’s throats like we’re twelve again. Well, more like they’re fourteen and we’re twelve.

Shepard and Frost are wearing tuxedos like us, helping themselves to complimentary champagne from the bar. Robin is nowhere in sight. He is probably still setting things up at the venue. A limousine will pick us up from the cabin as it is quite the walk.

It’s a shame Rowan couldn’t be here with us in the end, though. The offer was there, but he chickened out.

Well, more fool him.

Because I can’t wait to dance with Daisy tonight…

“She’s coming!” Noelle calls from the top of the stairs, rushing down as she waits beside us.

Ash and I stand at attention.

Soon, an angel descends the stairs, her silken red gown flowing all around her ankles as it makes the most sensuous sound.

My brother and I are utterly speechless. Truly.

I have never seen a more beautiful Omega. Her hair falls to her waist in waves, and she looks like a mermaid.

“You look… beautiful, Bumblebee,” Ash whispers, mesmerized.

She smiles, gazing down at her hands nervously. “Thank you.”

I give a lopsided grin. “Yeah, what he said, Daisy-chain. Come. The night awaits us.”

Ash and I tie flowers around her wrist just as the limo shows up. Now both packs get into the vehicle.

When we arrive at the venue, I sense the nervousness radiating from Daisy. She is scared. Her May-blossom has a sharpness to it, but I reach across, placing a hand on her shoulder.

After all, we are about to meet all our old classmates. But she has this. She looks phenomenal.

“Are you ready?” I ask her.

She trembles, closing her eyes. Then she looks up at me with those earnest green eyes, then nods.

Pride fills my heart. I have never been prouder of her.

She links arms with me and Ash as we walk down the path toward the building. They have placed fairy lights in the trees to light up the way.

The moment we step into the venue, all eyes fall on us. I find some familiar faces, mostly Kyle and his old bros. Natalie is further away, catching up with her old gang.

The silence that descends over the room is deafening. But as soon as a growl sounds from my chest, warning anyone who dares so much as glance at my Omega, they freeze.

That’s right. I am letting the whole school know that Daisy is finally my Omega, just as I should have done ten years ago.

Let’s get this show on the road.
