Chapter 29 Daisy

Daisy

The guys have tied a blindfold around my eyes, one covered in daisies, no doubt, as they lead me into the unknown.

It seems I fully trust them now with my life, but at least the blindfold matches my dress.

My dress today is a daisy pattern, and I guess I am finally embracing the name.

“Almost there, Bumblebee,” Ash purrs above me, leading me the way. I pick up on the sweet scent of mowed grass, and it’s heavenly.

I can even hear the lawnmower droning in the distance.

“Should I be worried?” I laugh.

Briar snorts. “Only if you watch too many horror movies.”

Oh, well, that doesn’t make me feel better.

Thankfully, the sound of the Alpha’s reassuring chuckle placates me. “Just kidding, Daisy-chain. Almost there now.”

Now I hear the sound of a key slotting into a door and then creaky door hinges. And then our footsteps on the polished wooden floors.

Their scents hit me like a wave: petrichor, clove, and freshly cut wood. It’s intoxicating, and I just want to bury myself in that aroma.

We climb a set of stairs, where their scents grow stronger. They must sleep up here, and what I would give to roll around in their bedsheets.

We come to the end of a hall, far, far away from their bedrooms. I can tell by the scent. This end of the hall hasn’t been claimed.

“Ready, Daisy?” Ash says.

I smile, nodding my head. Finally, he yanks off the blindfold, and I stare at the inside of a bedroom.

My heart pounds, and I look at both Alphas. They smile surreptitiously. Ash burns as red as a tomato.

“What is this?”

Ash turns redder, reaching around to scratch the back of his neck. “It’s your bedroom, Daisy. For when you stay over, of course.”

My mouth opens on a silent gasp as I place a hand on my chest. “This is for me?”

Briar shows his teeth with a grin. “All yours, Daisy-chain.”

I’m not sure what to say. My hand covers my mouth as I’m too overcome. Tears sting in my eyes.

This is all for me…

“Of course. No pressure. We can take this slow. But this will be your room when you stay over. Maybe it can even be your permanent room,” Briar continues.

The tears finally pour, and I move my hand from my mouth, smiling broadly. “It’s beautiful. I love it.”

Briar chuckles. “Oh, you haven’t seen anything yet. Wait until you cross the threshold.”

I follow them into the room. It hasn’t been decorated yet, but there’s a plain bed and a large ensuite with a walk-in closet right next to it.

At least I think it is a closet.

Briar wiggles his brows. Then he steps toward the closet, opening it. A low bed awaits me on the other side.

“It’s a nest…” I whisper.

Ash is beside himself as he shrugs. “You got us. It’s a little bare right now, but we can always decorate. Any way you want.”

I can’t believe this… it is all just too much. I step into the nest, kneeling down to place my hands on the mattress. It’s soft.

This definitely has to be a dream. There is no way this is real.

But when I lay back on the nest, gazing up at the light fixture, I laugh. “This is amazing! The bed is huge.”

It really is. All of us could fit on this bed… One Omega, three Alphas...

My heart hurts next when I think of Rowan. A memory of him on top of me as he fucks me hard runs through my mind, and I bite my lip.

He caved in the end to my heat. However, that was days ago. Yet he has still been distant.

I just don’t know where I stand with that Alpha. Will he only be my Alpha when I am in heat? And other times, he will just ignore me?

It’s enough to give me whiplash.

Ash gets a text. Briar, too. When they both check their phones, wearing twin frowns on their faces, I pause. “What’s wrong?”

Ash growls, putting his phone away. “Nothing, Bumblebee... You enjoy your new nest.”

Yet Briar doesn’t glance away from his phone. He merely glares at the text message.

But I have to know. Besides, I had a feeling. “Ash… tell me… is it about Rowan?”

The Alpha doesn’t have to elaborate. When he shuts his eyes, I already know…

It is about Rowan.

Briar’s face is torn as he looks at me longingly, as if he’s logging away an image of me on my nest for later. “It’s best you see this, Daisy.”

Alarmed, I get up, gazing down at the phone. Just four words. Black and bold.

I can’t do this.

My eyes burn yet again, and I glance away before the emotions grip me in a chokehold. Just when I thought we had turned a new leaf.

Perhaps he will just be my Alpha when I am in heat after all.

No…

It’s either all or nothing. And that goes for his brothers, too, and their beautiful house… and… my nest.

“I… I have to leave…”

“Daisy…” Ash whispers, giving me those big puppy-dog eyes.

But I am already calling a cab as I march out of the nest. “I have to go home. But this can’t work… not without Rowan. It would hurt too much. I’m… sorry.”

I guess it was all too good to be true.

They follow me down the stairs as I march towards the front door. My cab should be arriving soon.

“Daisy, please…” Ash continues.

Briar puts a hand on his brother’s shoulder. “It’s fine. Let her go, Ash. Perhaps we can talk some sense into him.”

I gaze back at the two. Ash pleads with his eyes now, but Briar hangs his head, finding it hard to look at me.

When my cab arrives, I open the door, lingering for a few moments. But when I look around at the house, I make up my mind.

I can’t. I would always feel like an outsider. Like, I don’t belong here. Not as long as Rowan refuses me.

“Goodbye…” I whisper before exiting the door.

Ash is the one who can’t look at me now as he covers his face. Briar smiles at me sadly, his eyes shining.

“You take care, Daisy.”

I guess that’s a goodbye.

Finally, I shut the door, getting into the cab. It’s one of the hardest car journeys of my life as I hold back tears in front of the driver. I didn’t want him to feel sorry for me.

Still, it’s for the best.

All or nothing. All three brothers are none at all.

That’s just how it has to be. Because I will never be truly happy so long as Rowan refuses me.
