Epilogue
Jenna came too, and she brought the twins.
Joel was busy. Funny that. They all seem to really like Mac, which is a relief.
Jenna and Kendra never stopped talking to each other.
You’d think they’d never met before! I think Jenna’s finally relaxing and letting people in.
She looked so pretty this afternoon. It made me happy to see her laughing and joking, and the twins were thrilled to be back in Kelsea Sands with all their family.
They nagged and nagged to go to Watersmeet and meet the animals, so we’ve said they can stay in a couple of weeks, once I’ve got settled in.
Everyone’s volunteered to help me with the move from Hull, and Uncle Christopher said he can recommend a good estate agent to handle the sale of my house, though maybe I’ll think about letting it out instead for now.
Everyone was very interested in the brochure for the shepherd’s huts. Stella’s already planning a website and social media accounts. We haven’t even got planning permission yet, but she’s so excited that no one had the heart to remind of her that.
Dad wanted to know what duck eggs taste like and Mac said he can have all the duck eggs he wants for free, which pleased Dad no end.
Mam said Dad thought of nothing but his stomach and she sometimes wondered what she’d ever seen in him, and Auntie Elaine said they were both an embarrassment and she couldn’t think of a couple better suited to each other.
Rosie didn’t say anything because she was too busy crying.
Her mascara ran and everything. I asked her what was wrong, and she said she was so bloody happy for me she didn’t have the words, so I gave her a big hug and reminded her that she still owed me a night at the pictures and those nachos and dips, and she said surely I’d be too busy settling into Watersmeet to even think about going into town.
That’s Rosie for you.
I looked around the table and my heart was just about fit to burst. I have the most wonderful family in the world.
I guess this is the end of Project Alison. Final entry and all that. What an incredible three months it’s been. I feel kind of sad to close the journal for the last time. But Mac’s looking at me now, and he’s got that expression in his eyes, and it’s late anyway and I really do have to go to bed.
And anyway, I have another project to focus on now. Project Watersmeet. And I have a feeling it’s going to be absolutely amazing.
This is Alison Parker signing off.
Over and out.
