Liv's POV
It was surprising, how loud it was a while ago. All I had to do was just mention poison, and the Alpha and I had gotten everyone's attention.
Well, everybody's hearing was quite sensitive since we were supernatural beings.
Max slowly released his grip on me, as he stared at me, confused by what I had said. Callum and Ryder released their hold on Frank and we're looking at me too.
Slowly, space was being left where I stood.
The only people who stood close enough in my circle were Frank and the triplets, but even they were in shock.
The Alpha Arthur slowly stood up and his razor-sharp stare felt like it pierced through me.
He looked at his glass and then back to me.
Rebecca looked like she wanted to devour me at that moment.
If she could control Earth, she would have opened the ground and made me fall through the cracks.
"You there, what did you say?" He pointed at me and my breath stiffened.
I was suddenly feeling cold.
All eyes were on me.
Frank. Max.
Ryder. Callum.
They all waited for me to talk, they wanted to know what was going on.
"This is your only chance," my wolf echoed from within me.
I clenched my fist as I steeled my resolve and took in large quantities of air to my lungs.
"I—" I hesitated as I looked at Rebecca.
She bowed her head low so her eyes would glare at me.
The signature "I will kill you if you talk" look
"I—what I said is the truth. The drink has been poisoned, my lord," I said again.
My voice shook and my entire being trembled.
"Then how did you know it was poisoned?" The Alpha asked again.
"Liv," Ryder whispered to me.
"What is going on?" He asked.
Max lowered his voice.
"Liv—"
"The Luna poisoned the drink," I said defiantly.
Gasps rang through the hall.
I know I had said the most outrageous thing in the kingdom.
What made it worse was that I was an Omega.
Well, there was no going back, I had to carry on.
I clenched my fist, they felt clammy.
"I was kidnapped by the Luna, a while ago and I got hurt," I raised my hair to show my wound.
Everyone looked at it with interest and there was murmuring developing among the crowd.
"I escaped from where I was held, which was today. I was kidnapped under the pretense that someone wanted to see me, someone who knew and cared about me. So I was knocked out and I got injured. When I woke up, I made my swift escape and went to hide in the woods, just behind the royal gardens," I looked at Rebecca and she trembled with rage.
I could swear that she was turning pale pink.
"False allegations made against me would make you lose your head, do you know that?" Rebecca spoke.
She sounded calm, but I could sense the bloodlust behind her words.
The alpha was looking at me with a lot of interest now.
He put the glass down and folded his hands.
I continued.
"When I was hiding from my pursuers, I overheard the Luna conversing with Erisa to poison your drink. I was in hiding, so they didn't see me. I ran straight from there back here," I said. "I felt I had to tell you, because it was a lot against your life," my heart was beating fast.
There were looks of disgust in the people but it was directed at Rebecca. It was directed at me. They didn't believe my words.
I turned to the triplets and they looked pale. "It is true, I saw it with my own eyes," I said to them.
Frank was confused, and he looked at the alpha.
Alpha Arthur raised the glass and looked at me. He turned to his Luna and then he cocked his head at me.
"If you are so brave to call the Luna out, why don't you prove it, and drink from the glass?" He raised it at me.
There was nodding among the people and they all pointed their hands at me, jeering and shaking their heads in disgust.
I swallowed and thought about it. No one believed me, maybe if I was able to prove it by drinking it, I would survive. Better save the alpha's life than mine right? Either way, if I couldn't prove that there was poison in the glass, I would die tonight.
I moved my legs forward, my breath shuddered as I thought about death. My lungs felt like steel, they were too heavy for me to breathe properly.
Someone grasped my hands gently and. turned back.
"Where are you going?" Max held my hand. He wasn't clamping down as usual. "You are not going to drink it, not on my watch," he said solemnly.
Callum suddenly stepped forward, blocking my path and he growled. Ryder stood beside Max and all their eyes were directed at the Alpha.
I could sense hostility in the three of them.
The crowd gasped at that gesture. I knew what they were saying. The Alpha's sons couldn't support an Omega. I knew it very well.
"Liv isn't going anywhere. If you want her, come and take her from me," Callum challenged the alpha and gasps erupted.
"I knew it, that girl has bewitched them, seize her!" Rebecca ordered.
Alpha Arthur glared at them and flashed his canine. "If she doesn't do it, she will be locked up forever. Nobody insults my Luna and goes Scott free," he threatened. He looked at the guards and they stepped forward.
In an instant, we were surrounded by guards who brandished their weapons at the son.
"Use force if necessary, they will heal, don't worry about it," the Alpha ordered.
The boys growled and slashed their claws around if anybody dared come too close to me. The guards advanced, and they stabbed Callum in the shoulder. He slashed at them, but they jumped back.
This wasn't right. I shook my head, I was making them suffer for what I had said. I had to prove it at all cost, maybe my healing powers would help reject the poison.
Max relaxed his hold on me for a second, and that was all I needed to break away from him. I ran forward past the guards and he tried to follow me but the guards suddenly jumped between me and him and blocked his path.
"I will drink it," I said to the alpha.
Alpha Arthur raised the glass at me. "Make way for her," he said to the people.
"Liv! No! Don't do this!" Callum roared. He tried running forward but the guards pointed sharp spears at him.
I looked at him and a tear rolled down my cheeks. I had no choice. Either way, there was no happy ending for me.
But I wouldn't let the boys suffer for me.
I climbed the stairs to the high table and the guards that stood there opened up, allowing me to pass.
I climbed up slowly and stood before the Alpha. He gave the glass to me and stared at me.
"Drink," he ordered.
I raised the glass to my mouth and put the cup at my lip.
"Liv, don't do it! Please Liv!" Max roared. I had never seen him so emotional before.
My breath had quickened. My senses were high, I could suddenly smell the glass content very well. I could smell the fruits in it, the alcohol content. I shivered at the thought of drinking it.
I looked at Rebecca and she gripped her armrest. She must have been acting so calm that they wouldn't know she was the one. She knew if she reacted too much, she would have been suspected.
Well, it was my time to shine.
I emptied the contents of the glass in my mouth immediately. It was better to just be done with it once. I couldn't lie that the wine was very good, I was secretly wishing for seconds but I stopped myself.
Nothing was happening.
I didn't feel strange at all, I didn't feel anything out of order. Just the same old me.
I stood like that for thirty seconds straight, while the Alpha stared at me patiently. Rebecca looked at me and also waited.
Nothing was happening.
The boys held their breaths. The guards were still pointing their spears at them to hold them at bay.
Nothing happened.
The king shook his head and looked away from me. Rebecca still looked very tense.
The Alpha roared. "Take her away! The drink wasn't poisoned!" He turned to the crowd. "I will make a perfect example of her tomorrow when I execute her myself for slandering against my Luna!"
The guards were coming towards me. The crowd were all talking and pointing their finger at me and shaking their head.
I was alive, but I was going to be executed tomorrow. My luck was very cruel.
The guards were coming in numbers towards me. The Alpha grabbed a glass and poured himself a glass from the same poisoned bottle.
He held it at his lips and was about to take a sip when my senses went haywire.
Blood spilled out of my nose and splashed to the ground. I wiped my nose and looked at my hand. Everywhere fell silent as they all stared at me in horror.
Bright red blood stained them and I looked at the Alpha. He looked at me in horror and dropped the glass to the floor.
My stomach fell out, I suddenly felt stings inside them. Something hot was threatening to erupt from my throat and I knelt over on the floor. I vomited blood and everyone gasped.
"Liv!"
That must have been Ryder, I turned towards them where I lay on the door. I wasn't seeing well again, my vision was hazy.
Callum was running towards me, he had escaped the guards.
I turned towards the ceiling, and everything slowly blurred out, to darkness.
